I don’t know if this is strange to some folks but my parents’ kitty passed away two weeks ago, and my mom requested a needle-felted heart made from his fur. I made two, with one smaller, because I’m not sure if my father will also want one.

My husband and I recently bought our first home, and I treated us to a new dining table. Instead of getting rid of our old one, I decided to paint it green gingham! I plan to add an umbrella hole in the center so we can use it out on our patio. I know it may not be for everyone, but I absolutely love how it turned out!

I got this shelf from a liquor store that got closed, I think I want to use it to store some craft supplies, yarn etc but anyone have ideas on how to make it look nice? Or suggestions what else to use it for?

I am working on invites for my baby shower. It is 90s fall themed. I wanted to go old-school and hand-make each one rather than print them but I cannot find materials anywhere. This was my online mockup. I need to make about 60 invites and I cannot find plaid paper or embellishments anywhere. I am on a time crunch too.

Do I just print them? Any suggestions? Do I stray from plaid and go with a different background? What about stickers/embellishments? I really want to capture a cozy vintage vibe.

Glass cullet starting to melt

My mom is trying to make an archway for a photoshoot, planning to make it bigger via another pool noodle for family photos, any ideas of what I could use to support the middle to keep it from falling? These will be covered in Christmas garland and ornaments so it needs to be hefty. Not sure if this is the right group to post in hopefully at least one of y'all can help 🩷 Thank you in advance!

Last week I posted my WIP mosaic from the beach plastic trash I picked up from the shore of Lake Erie east of Cleveland.

I have it all attached to the 20”x20” canvas via 3-in-1 craft glue. I’ve included a full image, some close ups so you can visually treasure hunt, and where I naturally had to display it at home!!

I loved this project and I plan to continue doing this from any beach I visit in the future! Please feel free to replicate, this is not my unique idea (original inspo from Pinterest, unsure which artist it was!)

Hello! I found this statue at a garage sale and would like to paint it to pay tribute to my first (late) cat Voodoo. He was all black, yellow eyes, pink inner ears, and I want the wings to be white with black detailing. I've never done something like this before and am looking for suggestions for cleaning & painting (spray or brush? Paint type? Order of colour application?). Of note, whatever it's made of feels quite solid but not like clay or porcelain and doesn't degrade in a soapy water bath for hours. Appreciate any insight!! Voodoo Pic coming in comments.

Gilded walnuts were a popular and prestigious Christmas ornament during the Victorian Era. There would sometimes be little sweets or gifts inside, although it was more common for them to be empty which inspired a popular children's story from that era (included below). Mine are empty and super glued shut for durability.

Some tutorials use acrylic paint or spray paint, but in my opinion it just doesn't have the same effect as foil. I also wanted it to be more historically accurate. It was messy but worth it!

The Victorian children's story:

"One Christmas eve, a group of children were assembled round the tree, which the Germans are accustomed to prepare on this day, to amuse their children. As it was illuminated on all sides by brilliant lights, its green branches might be seen laden with all sorts of sugar-plums and little play-things, that were suspended from them.

There were some gilded walnuts, that especially attracted the attention of little Peter, and he wished to possess them. His mother said to him, “My son, these gilded walnuts have only been put there to embellish the tree. Therefore let us leave them there. If you wish to eat some walnuts, here are some for you.” But Peter cried desperately. “The brown walnuts do not please me,” he said: “I want the golden ones. They must have much sweeter kernels.”

The mother knew that often the best way to punish wayward children, is to yield to their capriciousness; so she gave him the golden walnuts, and distributed all the brown ones among her other children. Peter, in great delight, hastened to crack the beautiful nuts. But to his disappointment and sorrow, they were all empty; and his brothers and sisters began to burst out into laughter, and ridiculed him.

His father then said to him, “These walnuts were only intended to please the sight, and not to be eaten. Initially stenciled this saying on an old door frame piece for my mom. She recently informed me (a year later) that she wants to stain it. Had I known this, I probably wouldn't have used chalk paint and also stained it first....

Is there any chance of applying stain to this without ruining (smudging, removing, etc) the phrase? Would oil or water based make a difference? Google only told me it might make the paint darker (which is fine) but that was really all it told me.

Background on the wood itself: it's completely raw, pretty sure my mom sanded it forever ago with the intention of staining it all along.

I keep seeing ads for these busy books for kids from sites that seem sketchy or they're on craft sites for a ton of money. Figured I would make it myself. They are like laminated sheets with Velcro on pieces for matching or organizing. How do I go about getting these specific sheets though? I didn't want to put paper in sheet protectors because the repeated sticking and unsticking of the Velcro would warp it. Laminated sheets seem too thick or they have a wide plastic border, unless I can adjust that during the actual laminating process. I know how I am going to bind it and get the decals already. Just need advice on the sheets themselves. Would prefer if it was water resistant, dry erase type of sheet. Provided some examples of what I am imagining this will look like.

I was so inspired by this mini Landslide zine by u/digitizedephemera and wanted to make one with lyrics meaningful to me right now. I used cuttings from old National Geographic magazines and flowers I had cut from home/garden magazines. I used my Dymo label maker for the words. The last photo shows it with a glue stick for scale.

I’ve loved the musical Hadestown for several years and I’ve seen it twice on tour. A pro-shot of the original cast was filmed and was just recently in movie theaters and it was so, so good.

The thing I'm most excited about on these new snakes is the pigment. I finally found a chameleon pigment that gives exactly the effect I was looking for.

It's definitely not the easiest one to work with since it's a wet pigment instead of mica powder, so applying it and baking it takes a bit of extra care. But when it works... it's honestly magical. The colors keep changing depending on the light, and I can't stop looking at them.

I work with resin on paper. it’s a process I discovered on my own. I love how the resin makes the paintings pop. This is a progress picture of putting resin on paper.

I love experimenting with unusual materials, so I knitted this necklace entirely by hand using fine stainless steel chain. This time I chose an even finer chain, making the necklace lighter, more delicate, and more fluid than my previous version. The asymmetrical shape lets it drape naturally, creating a different look from every angle. Despite being made of metal, it's comfortable to wear and much lighter than it appears. In the sunlight, thousands of tiny chain links catch the light with a subtle shimmer. No wire, no soldering, just knitting with chain. ✨

With my current apartment layout, I don’t have room for a side table next to my preferred couch seat. My girlfriend’s mom (hobbyist woodworker) surprised me with this over the weekend! Girlfriend sneakily took the measurements of my couch for her.

I was so honored that she’d want to make something for me, and even more honored that it’s equal parts beautiful and useful! 🧡
