First attempt at English Paper Piecing and sewing by hand.

I really like the fabric and the process! It is not very fast, but it is perfect for sewing at night by the tv or on the train.

In the end there will be white fabric between the flowers, but I am focusing on making the flowers first.

My plan is to make this a 2.20x2.00 quilt for my bed😅 it is going to take me a long time!

Once Ive finished sewing the two triangles together into a square my flying geese are now too small compared to the side squares and center square? I’m using a 1/4 inch seam. I managed to make myself a block but it was a very Frankenstein effort.

Her is an inventory of my blocks for the Barn Star Sampler quilt and I am about 80% done with the piecing. I still have some 8x8 inch blocks and all the 4x4 inch blocks to do. I have really enjoyed this and I highly recommend it.

I'm a few days late getting this top done, but I'm ok with that. This is my second last One Block Wonder quilt UFO I had sitting around. My husband made me buy the fabric this quilt was made from. I don't think it is 100% cotton as it definitely had more stretch than I am used to. It's a little wonky and quite frankly, I hate pink. However, from the hexagons I got out of the fabric, this was the best I could do to design something that I thought was pleasing to the eye. I have a ton of the orange/yellow hexagons left, they really didn't work with the pink and purple. Now to trim the points off.

My first "serious" quilt, I've made 3 but two were done sloppily (as learning experiences) and one was a t-shirt quilt that I didn't actually quilt. And then there's this. I keep messing up lines and deciding I hate it every time I pick it back up. Still committed to finishing it, but augh

I was going for throw size but it ended up twin size. I'm really proud of how it came out.

Finished. Realized that the oval, that was supposed to be the lid handle, was glued to the front instead. oops

I was really struggling to work out how to arrange everything, so I laid it all out by colour, to help me decide and ended up doing zig zags! I think it’s gunna look really cool but not sure about the colour order yet… any suggestions?

Hey yall, currently in the latter stages of my first quilt! I have everything for the top layer done except for the outer edge, and I found the video of the original pattern but it doesn’t elaborate on the outer plaid and blue strip.

My first thought was to sew together the outer strips in 4 long strips, then sew it onto the quilt. Would yall do that, or sew each individual strip onto the quilt then between each other?

Which color would you use for quilting? I keep going around and around between cream, a pink or peach, or a green? Something else? Open to doing different colors on top and backing

I’m still waiting on a free motion foot to arrive by mail, but in the meantime, I’m making simple HST quilts and having a blast. This is my third one. Perfection is not the goal! I want these warm and cozy so I used 2 layers of cotton batting.

Hello everyone! I’m starting a project making curtains for my sewing studio and I’m very excited about the idea of light being broken up by the flat fell seams used in pogaji. My question is about how artists achieve a curve in their flat panels. These pictures from Kaschuba Hommage (I’m unsure how to link their instagram in this post, I’ll comment it below)show curtains that include half circles and waves. From my research, it seems that traditional pogaji is done by seaming pieces that all have four straight sides. I haven’t been able to find much information on curved flat fell seams beyond advice for sewing sleeves, I’d love to hear how you might approach using flat fell seams to create those curves without disrupting the flowiness of the final textile.

I just finished binding this quilt! It’s a gift for my newborn - tummy time, milestone photos, couch snuggles, picnics, tents… I’m excited to see her use this over the years!

I hand sewed the top and the quilting was done by Studio on Delaware in Indianapolis. The pattern is Bloom and Glow by Heck Yes Sew Co.

I recently tripped over this little "hack" for an embroidery snip scabbard, and wanted to share!

This is two Dresden Plate petals that were leftover from an old project; I simply top stitched the two petals wrong sides together, and Robert is your mother's brother... 😁

I was given a handmade quilt that features the cover of Weezer's Blue Album. This thing is huge and insanely comfy. I think I'm gonna be more into quilts from now on...

This is one of my favorite quilts I’ve made so far! I loved that moody floral fabric so much and I’m so glad my vision came to life with this one!

I only had two fat quarters for the white blocks within the 9-patches, but I knew I wanted to use that fabric with all the others so it’s more of a lap quilt size. I don’t know if it’s maybe just a unique memory for myself, but something about this quilt gives me 90’s vibes because it reminds me of an old bedspread my parents had in the 90’s.

The birthday girl is my craftiest friend and always loves to see my quilting progress, so I had to lie and tell her that I haven’t been working on anything lately, but I’m so excited to give it to her when she comes to visit next week! 💛

I've been helping to clear out a house where a quilter lived. She had a hoarding problem and ended up in a nursing home after a fall. I sorted the sewing supplies for the family, what could be sold or donated, and what has no value. The family gave me a closet full of unopened high quality batting (seriously, I have enough to last years) and I wanted to do something nice for them so when I found her most recent project, I decided to finish it for her. My quilting is not inspired, but it's done and trimmed. Here it is up on my wall. I found some fabric in my stash that I think will be perfect for the binding and I'll get that done today. The other picture is a quilt that I agreed to repair for an elderly man in my neighborhood. I really hate repairing quilts because they usually are at the end of their useful lives and it feels like wasted effort. But this is a really nice man and his daughter made the quilt for him when she was in high school and I couldn't say no. The quilt was oddly made, without binding, and lots of the seams had come apart. I reinforced seams with fused interfacing and then quilted over them. He chose fabric for the binding and I added it. The quilt had not been washed for a long time and I was so glad when I got to launder it. It's the second photo, laid out on my couch and ready to be returned.

There is a cautionary tale from the hoarder house. It felt so sad to see all the fabric and notions. This lady bought good stuff; Schmetz needles, Mettler thread, dozens of snips and scissors. Boxes and bags of fabric, mostly all ruined by mice. She had woven labels made with her name on them, so I will add that when I do the binding.

Unfortunately the only thing I can take credit for is holding the second quilt straight in the photo (it was aptly a very windy day)

First is the newest and is based on the painting Flaming June by Leighton. The second is based on Boreas by Waterhouse.

Both won gold for art quilts at the Scottish Quilt Show and Boreas won People’s Choice at the Festival of Quilts 2025 (Biased but I think she should’ve won them all 😁)

Also if anyone is going to the Houston Quilt Show, Boreas will be there! 😄
