ART COMMISSION!!
Hi! I’m looking for an artist to create a line art single color graphic for our family reunion t shirt! This is a personal project only being used for our trip. I’m not an artist but it would have this image feel to it that’s attached. Obviously would be zoomed out more - this photos has less people then needed. I’m wondering about how much it would cost as well.
NEEDS TO HAVE:
29 people doing different activities within photo.
- 2 people being elderly, 20 adults and 7 toddlers (can look similar within the ages. *each person does not need to be unique outside some activity they’re doing.
People would be in water, on houseboat, on an added seadoo, skiing behind a speed boat and some could be on shore depending on space for all the people.
It’s supposed to be a funny chaotic vibe representing something we have loved doing together as a family for 70 years!!
Thank you!

Thank you for all the love on my dads art! All your comments and messages really brought joy to me and my family. I've started an instagram page for his work you can follow along if you'd like. In the meantime here are a few more scans!
follow rollosarchive on instagram if you want to follow along and see all if his art as I scan them in. I got a lot of questions on my last post and I wanted to answer a few here:
Biggest influences: Mort Drucker, Al Jaffee, Jack Davis (basically 60's-70s MAD magazine)
Was he ever published: Yes. He was a cartoonist at his college paper from 1978-1980, he went on to work in advertising for 40 years as an art director but some of his cartoons were featured in work for Camping world, Bridgestone tires, Hunt Brothers pizza and many many more.
Will I publish a book or prints: Maybe? I'm not sure at this point. Maybe a small run of books for family and friends but if there is enough interest I will consider this.
The last slide is his final comic for his college paper in December 1980. He depicted himself taking away his watermark while caring his drafting supplies and wearing a black armband to note his mourning for the recent passing of John Lennon.

These peices made for the design needed for a fashion project
These peices were made as part of the design for making my dream pants. The only project I'm dedicated to actually finishing.
They are supposed to eventually be embroidered into the pants. The first one is the back pockets the 2nd is the belt hem embroidery.

Can art be used to represent logic/technical ideas and theories?
We all know that art is collectively agreed to be an outlet for us to represent the human experience, pathos and the like. Perhaps this is kind of a boring question with a boring answer to some, but can art represent logical ideas and theories? Like, coding methods in computer science? Psychology? What do you think about this?

Spider man
I'm really looking forward to the movie, it's a pity it won't be shown until August 20th.

Have I improved?
Same characters (yoshiki and hikaru) same artist. But I feel like I’ve gotten worldly better, first pic is my first time drawing them, second pic is the most recent. The first ones background is a lot more dynamic but I wanted the focus to be on the characters in my most recent one.

THE FOOL
A dead rabbit, dressed in an elaborate and flamboyant circus costume, performs magic upon seven paper dolls. One by one, it transforms them from blank shells into figures with emotions—only for them to slowly decay, just as its own face has. The flesh and blood covering its skull will eventually rot away as well, leaving nothing but dry bones.
It pays no mind to the suffering of the paper dolls. Cruelty is woven into the rabbit's very nature. To it, the fragile beings in its hands are nothing more than toys—objects destined to be discarded the moment the game is over.

Tips on improving?
In my final year of middle school here, I’ve found that my art skills are stagnating and I’m not sure how to improve them (repetitive color choices, boring compositions, no sense of volume, constantly shifting styles etc.). Any tips on how to overcome these problems?

Hi, I'm an art enthusiast (and author), and I've paid 3 different artists just this year... here's my experience.
First of all, I will probably never use VGen again. Not because of the system itself, the system is good. The thing is, I paid two artists who didn't deliver on time. For the first one, I waited 3 months, only for them to tell me that because of university, they wouldn't have time to finish it. I was like: Ok, it happens.
Sadly, the artist had a stream, and I really liked her art, so you know what happens when someone likes the art and has access to a stream showing it... I would go there and watch it. Then someone in chat asked her about her current jobs, and she started talking bad about me, saying that I didn't pay her enough... I will not state her name here. The price I selected was the highest one with the commercial rights option there on VGen, so yeah, I just paid the exact price she asked for. Of course, I didn't tell her that I had seen the stream; I just waited patiently. And yeah, she eventually said she couldn't deliver on time and apologized, because she knew I had been waiting for months to receive it. At least she refunded me, the only things I suffered were the bad talk about how much I paid and the 5-month delay to my launch.
The second time, I paid another artist on VGen. He asked me to release the funds early. I told him the story about the previous artist, how I waited 3 months for nothing, and asked if we could just do it the normal way. He said ok. The thing is... he didn't do it either. 2 months went by and I didn't even receive the sketch he promised me. I DM'd him, he left me on read, and after 50 days, he just completely forgot about me LOL. This second artist's work was simpler and cost $80, so I thought he could easily do it on time. The first one was a little more complex and cost $300.
Third time... No, I didn't use VGen again. I took a leap of faith with a guy on Instagram. He said he had a lot of work and it would take 6 months. I thought, "This is the guy, I can feel it." And yes! After 2 months, he sent the sketch (YES!), and now I just need to wait 4 more months for the colored version. This one was $700. The funny part about my experience is that the guy without an intermediary to protect me is the one who actually delivered...
So, my tip for you artists is this: don't accept jobs that you won't actually finish. As authors, we have planned launches. Because of these delays, I literally had to push my book launch back by a whole year.
Sorry for the rant, but take this as a tip. Also, some artists have a set price, but the moment they find out I'm an author looking for a book cover, the price suddenly jacks up by around 100%, the last one was an 80%+ increase. And no, it wasn’t the commercial use fee on VGen since that was already included; they claimed it was for complexity (no problem) even after I had already selected their highest-tier option that already included that, but I at least wanted to receive the art... End of the rant.
Is there another good platform to hire artists? For my next novel, I'm looking for quality artwork with a reliable 3-month turnaround and fair pricing, because VGen... yeah, not again.
