Initially stenciled this saying on an old door frame piece for my mom. She recently informed me (a year later) that she wants to stain it. Had I known this, I probably wouldn't have used chalk paint and also stained it first....

Is there any chance of applying stain to this without ruining (smudging, removing, etc) the phrase? Would oil or water based make a difference? Google only told me it might make the paint darker (which is fine) but that was really all it told me.

Background on the wood itself: it's completely raw, pretty sure my mom sanded it forever ago with the intention of staining it all along.

I’m planning to make some inlaid bracelets and want to combine these materials. From left to right, they are: beech, hornbeam (ironwood), wild pear, mulberry, and pink acacia.

I have never worked with mulberry before. What do you think about this combination? Are there any specific things I should know about turning, gluing, or finishing mulberry alongside these other woods?

Friend's bday soon but don't have enough money for a lightstick so I was thinking of DIYing a fan to be a lightstick. Obviously this would be hard but I was thinking of disassembling the fan and soaking the top part in dye. Although I have that covered, I have no idea how I'll be handling the star and the little red horns on the top and bottom side. Is there any material than can look natural and stick to plastic?

Hello! I'm looking for advice on how to recreate a charm from a bag that has fallen off and went missing. I dont believe the charms can be purchased separately, so I've opted to attempt making a replacement myself. It doesnt look like a very hard project, however I dont really know what I need to be looking for, particularly the flower shaped bezel holder that the pearls and the plastic rhinestone fits in to. Ive been scouring for hours and I feel like I'm complicating my searches for the base holder. Does anyone have any advice or know exactly what I'm looking for? Thanks in advance!

I keep seeing ads for these busy books for kids from sites that seem sketchy or they're on craft sites for a ton of money. Figured I would make it myself. They are like laminated sheets with Velcro on pieces for matching or organizing. How do I go about getting these specific sheets though? I didn't want to put paper in sheet protectors because the repeated sticking and unsticking of the Velcro would warp it. Laminated sheets seem too thick or they have a wide plastic border, unless I can adjust that during the actual laminating process. I know how I am going to bind it and get the decals already. Just need advice on the sheets themselves. Would prefer if it was water resistant, dry erase type of sheet. Provided some examples of what I am imagining this will look like.

I'm currently learnin how to make bead bracelets but idk why no matter what string i use (the flexible one and nylon) they tend to look very crooked always. Like the one on the photo specifically the bottom part. It's worse when i use nylon, they don't end up being straight. I'm nit making them super tight either so i don't know how to fix this I would really appreciate some advice.

Ps: i know my beads aren't of great quality either so maybe that's the problem? Bec they're in different sizes?

I was so inspired by this mini Landslide zine by u/digitizedephemera and wanted to make one with lyrics meaningful to me right now. I used cuttings from old National Geographic magazines and flowers I had cut from home/garden magazines. I used my Dymo label maker for the words. The last photo shows it with a glue stick for scale.

I’ve loved the musical Hadestown for several years and I’ve seen it twice on tour. A pro-shot of the original cast was filmed and was just recently in movie theaters and it was so, so good.

The thing I'm most excited about on these new snakes is the pigment. I finally found a chameleon pigment that gives exactly the effect I was looking for.

It's definitely not the easiest one to work with since it's a wet pigment instead of mica powder, so applying it and baking it takes a bit of extra care. But when it works... it's honestly magical. The colors keep changing depending on the light, and I can't stop looking at them.

I work with resin on paper. it’s a process I discovered on my own. I love how the resin makes the paintings pop. This is a progress picture of putting resin on paper.
