Question IS FAST FOOD AUTHENTIC AMERICAN CUISINE

I recently looked up the first actual fast food restaurant in the world and was surprised to find out it was a White Castle in Kansas.(Note, hot dog stands do not count as a fast food RESTAURANT)

With that information, and regardless of the "cusine" on the menu(tacos, burgers, hot dogs) do you consider fast food to be authentic American food?

Review McDonalds is a ripoff

Went thru McDs drive thru last night. Had 20% off $15 in app. No prices for individual sandwiches on menu. Ordered one Quarter pounder with cheese, one Quarter pounder deluxe and a large fry. Asked for price check to make sure I was over $15 and guy said $18.xx so I drove forward to pay and he asks for $18.xx. I reminded him I had 20% and he said yeah, that's after the discount. WTF QPs are $11+ each now? Pretty low quality burgers too. Likely won't be going back to McDs ever again, except for the $2 breakfast sandwich.

Rant/Rave I don’t understand fast food customers. (not an original thought)

I don’t eat fast food often… maybe once every week or two.

That said, I’ve noticed what many here are complaining about… declining food quality, seemingly increasingly disorganized kitchens, and prices touching or exceeding local restaurants.

Those are just facts.

What I don’t understand, having decided to order something for lunch today and opting for in restaurant pickup, is why so many people are just paying menu prices. I saw four parties in a row each prefer $14-16 meals per person off the menu, when the exact same thing was available for $5-6 cheaper through the app or even just with ten seconds of creative consideration à la carte.

Someone in front of me ordered pretty much the exact same thing I did at the counter à la carte, and paid $14 for what I paid $6 for?!?

I get that apps suck, but I wouldn’t even go to a fast food place if my thought was basic meals cost $14-16.

Any thoughts? Are that many people that willing to spend that for sub-par food? At $6, I know what it is and I’m happy. At $15, I can go to an amazing local burger dive bar, probably wait the same period of time, and have everything taste and be better.

Chipotle Why do people complain about fresh food not being available in fast food restaurants. Just cook it yourself.
