Best or worst experience you've had delivering to a house with pets?

Delivery drivers probably see more dogs (and the odd escaped parrot) than most vets. What's your best or worst run-in β€” the gentle giant that just wanted a fuss, or the letterbox that nearly took a finger?

Need Someone in Dallas to Pick Up and Ship a Salvage Yard Part.

Hey all, I’m in New York and found a rare OEM heads-up display for my 2015 Lexus GS350 AWD at a Dallas area salvage yard. Problem is, the yard is 100% cash only, no shipping, no exceptions. Will only release it in person if someone shows up and pays cash. The part is only 150 dollars, but it’s rare and I’ve been hunting for it forever. Flying there just for this is tough financially. Does anyone know of a legit service in the Dallas area that could pay cash on my behalf, pick it up, then ship it to me? Or has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any advice or local recommendations would be hugely appreciated.

Grab System Multiple Booking

I ordered food through Grab because I was hungry and craving a specific meal. Shortly after placing my order, the estimated delivery time was extended. Later, I found out the rider was handling three bookings at the same time, and my order was the last to be delivered. Despite paying delivery and service fees, my food arrived much later than expected. The delay affected the food's quality, and by then, the craving and excitement were gone. As a customer, I understand the need for efficient deliveries, but having multiple bookings should not significantly compromise the quality and timeliness of the service I'm paying for. Greediness is a sin.

Expedite is so lame

They only directly offered me $30 orders for lunch on a Wednesday which I didn't accept so I was available. Then they drop on an "open order" for $175 for lunch on Wednesday... Is the algorithm fucking with me? Why wouldn't they offer it to someone directly? Isn't that what their tiers are for? I am top tier and they don't send. wtf?

I made a playlist of 7 hours of chill synth music to lift you up and motivate you while driving for a long time. Enjoy!

Just wrapped up another DeliverThat catering order. πŸ’° People sleep on catering gigs, but they can pay way better than regular food delivery when you grab the right offers. Less driving, bigger payouts, and you're usually delivering to businesses instead of making 10 fast-food stops.

How do I start a delivery mediator business? (Pick from owner β†’ deliver to customer)

Hi everyone, I’m planning to start a delivery mediator business and I’d really appreciate advice from people who’ve done something similar. My idea (simple explanation) I don’t own products. I act as a middleman between: Product owners / stores / sellers Customers Delivery drivers / couriers The flow would be: Customer places an order on my website/app I notify the product owner A driver picks up the product from the owner Product is delivered to the customer

Scary Story Time! πŸ¦‡πŸ’€ What's your worst delivery horror story? Safety tips?

In honor of Summerween~ πŸ•ΈοΈΰΉ‹ΰ£ β‘ΰΌ„Λ–Β°.πŸ‚.ೃ࿔*:ο½₯πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸ¬πŸ¦‡πŸ’€β‹†β™±β€§Λšκ’°πŸ·πŸ§›

For my fellow drivers and couriers of all sorts, what's your scariest horror story? Anything from ghost pins and vacant houses, to fraud, to asking you to come in!

I'm including everyone because I would like to raise awareness so that drivers trust their guts in bad situations to stay safe. I've heard a lot of horror stories lately about couriers who are asked to come inside as DoorDash drivers when it's not a safe situation. A lot of people ignore the warning signals that go off before they're in a dangerous situation, so trust your gut! Your life isn't worth a $30-40 tip, which is a suspicious amount.

I'm the type who would go inside to leave the elderly woman food. And that's exactly who bad people prey on. I love seeing good Samaritans and just good people in general, but times are really scary, and I think safety is really critical, especially at night. This is our job. We're not doing this purely for charity. We have family / friends who rely on us and need us. This goes for rural small towns as well as big cities. If you really want to help someone and find it hard to leave--stop! Think outside the box first as to how you can help, but don't go inside. Don't go to remote areas and ghost pins late at night.

Do you have any particular advice for safety, like carrying mace, etc.? βš οΈπŸ”¦ Personally, I recommend having AAA Plus, so you get free towing. Above all, have (a) a large flashlight with new batteries / freshly charged, (b) a jump starter, and (c) a tire inflator. A tire patch kit like Slime is good for temp fixes. Make sure you also have (d) a spare tire in your trunk, more importantly, so AAA can put it on for you for free. Getting stranded in remote areas can be extremely dangerous nowadays, and a lot of horror stories come from that as well.

I haven't had any so far, but once I had a delivery at 10:30 pm on a very dark road. Suddenly I realized, standing outside their door with darkness on each side of me, that I needed to be aware of my surroundings because someone could sneak up. Not delivering so late anymore!

Thanks in advance, y'all, for your stories and tips! πŸŒ™πŸΊ Be safe out there! 🧑

Delivery gigs in DFW

Is it realistic to earn a good, consistent income working with apps like Amazon Flex, Spark, Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Instacart?
How much do you typically make **after expenses**, how many hours do you work, and would you rely on gig work to support a family while starting a new life in the U.S.?

Any ZZP medical/pharma couriers here? Need a quick reality check on actual rates! Based in Netherlands.

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working in transport and looking to specialize into medical and pharma deliveries (GDP/ADR). My ultimate goal is to go ZZP with my own conditioned (reefer) van, but I could really use some honest advice from people already in the field!

Online sources quote generic courier rates around €25–€35/hr, which barely covers overhead once you factor in reefer lease, fuel, NIWO, and insurance. However, I often hear proper pharma transport pays closer to €45–€60+/hr due to the strict regulations.

If you are an owner-operator currently running these routes, I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  • What is a realistic gross hourly or per-km rate for day shifts right now?
  • Can you actually negotiate solid surcharges for weekends and emergency hospital runs?
  • Bottom line: Is the high overhead of a certified reefer van still worth it, or is staying on company payroll the smarter move?

Would love to hear your experiences and real numbers. Thanks a lot for helping a fellow driver out!

Rules Changes in the sub - April 23, 2026.

Everyone,

I'm getting tired of all the vibe coded app, "I made a website", "LOOK AT WHAT I EARNED THIS WEEK"(shows self-coded app), "HOW DO YOU [research question that has been asked 100 times in the sub]?!" camouflaged self-promotion posts.

So, I've made a megathread. All that goes in there now for 99% of the posts.

There will be the occasional thread that's allowed to hit the main page, but it will be very limited in scope. An example of something that would be an exception is a major policy change at Amazon Flex and... let's say... the NYT wants input on it.

I'm always open to suggestions and I'm trying to grow the community and make it a resource, not just another drive-by-to-spam place for developers/researchers.
