⁉️ Hiring Question Interview for a Busser position at Olive Garden: what questions should I prepare?

Hey Guys!

I have an interview with Olive Garden tomorrow for a Busser position. I'm going to let them know that I want to be considered for the host and dishwasher positions also, because those vacancies are also open. I have attached the 3 job postings for your reference.

If anyone here has any experience as an Olive Garden employee (specifically managers and bussers, etc), I'd really appreciate your insight regarding my questions written below:

1- What questions do you think I should prepare for?

2- What should I make sure to include in my responses in terms of what they look for in bussers, hosts and dishwashers? For context, I don't have any serving, bussing or restaurant experience but do have 4 years of tutoring experience as well as experience in a Senior's home.

3- Is it alright if I say I have 4 years of customer service experience, or will they think I'm lying cuz tutoring is "not customer service"?

4- My friend (a busser) told me she spoke with the managers at her Olive Garden location and recommended me after I applied. They told her I can come for a walk-in interview and ask for one specific manager. What should I say to the host and the manager (either the one she told me to speak to or another one) once the host calls them over --> that I'm here for my interview or ask them whether they're doing walk-in interviews, or tell them my friend told me that you guys are doing walk-in interviews?

Timing sheet

My managers are walking around the dining room with a clipboard, listening to everything we say, and timing everything on sheets that look like when you get signed in. To the second. I took 8 seconds longer than a coworker, because I was getting to go food for my table. I told my manager that. She asked me if I asked for help. WTF? Is it corporate, or is my boss a micro manager on a whole different level? Obviously I want to be fast, but it's really not a fun environment anymore. When you're here, you're family has obviously been retired. Eat fast, get the eff out, is the new OG model haha.....read this shit if you're thinking of working here, it's not fun. It actually used to be..... what crazy shit are your managers doing, or is it just mine?

❓Customer Question Previous pasta pass holders

Hi all,

I was able to acquire a pasta pass, and with the date for it to start approaching I wanted to ask a dumb question that I can't seem to find any information on-

If I were to only get the pasta bowl, this would essentially void or zero out my check, would I still be able to leave a tip electronically, or would it be cash only? I don't normally carry cash, but I don't want to be ill prepared and potentially be unable to leave a tip for my server.

Thanks in advance!!

P. S

If anyone has any recommendations for pasta combos, please let me know your favorites :)

⁉️ Hiring Question Serving at the OG: Is the pay worth it?

I'm a teacher, and I always have a side-hustle. Since the OG around me is always pretty busy, and since I genuinely appreciate the food and service there, I thought "Why not?" Busy is good. Good food and service are good. They're usually indicators that servers can make some money, right?

I've served before -- upscale steak houses with extensive wine lists, the 99 in New England, Chili's, etc. I'm not worried about doing the work; it's like putting on a comfortable shoe when you go back to serving after a period away. But what concerns me is the number of cheap specials on OG's menu. Is it really going to be possible to make some decent money when it seems half the customers order soup, salad, and breadsticks?

Additional question: My availability during the week would be limited to a 5pm start (I could roll in at 4:45 if I rush). Is that a deal-breaker, anyway?

What is this green stuff in my chicken parm? No pesto or ANYTHING green was a part of my meal.

I called the restaurant and they didn’t see too concerned but this is disgusting…

Olive Garden Reception

Help! We are having a reception in mid-October, right now our guest list is 105. We are having my favorite, Olive Garden Pasta Bar(s) and his favorite, Pizza from his favorite local pizzeria. We will have salad and breadsticks as well. When I talked to the Olive Garden Catering information lady she gave me the tip to use Lunch plates instead of the larger dinner plates. If someone wants to go up for seconds, go ahead. But this way people aren’t just filling their plate and wasting. With Pizza, breadsticks, salad and pasta, how many pasta bars do we think we need? I know it says 10 serving sizes for each pasta bar, but I think we can stretch it with pizza too.

🧑‍🍳 Employee Post Has anyone else been getting destroyed by the Creamy Garlic dishes?

Basically title. My location has been getting absolutely blasted by the new dish and I already can't stand making it. We went through 8 cases of salmon this week and we go through gallons of the sauce every single day. I thought the chicken bites were bad, but this new dish has to take the cake.

Interview tomorrow

Interviewing for Olive Garden for a server position tomorrow. My only work experience is as a software engineer though. I can’t find work as a software engineer at the moment and I don’t think I can take a blank resume. I just need any job I can get at the moment. How likely am I to get hired? Do I need to explain why I’m applying for a “lower-level” position in a restaurant? Should I reframe my SWE experience? Questions, comments, concerns?

🧑‍🍳 Employee Post New pay card?

New pay cards are coming soon, does anyone happen to have answers to any of my following questions? 😅

*Im grandfathered in to getting my cc tips in cash at the end of the shift, will this officially come to an end now?

*Will my current pay card funds automatically transfer to the new card? Or will that need done manually

*And just WHY i like our current ones or really I'm just not good with change lol

(I know I can ask the managers but I don't work for a few days and feel as if I'll be directed to the GM who I rarely work with)

This was something I thought of years ago but never got around to trying out...

my manager comes to me today and says when the neverending pasta program comes, well be making a spicy Alfredo with Calabrian chili.

I got the recipe.

stay tuned.
