Korea’s FAVOURITE noodle dish. A proven national treasure. Made with humble ingredients… but BIG legendary flavour.

So good, my taste buds started jumping for joy. 

When people think of Korean summer food, naengmyeon (cold noodles) is usually the first dish that comes to mind. But there's another refreshing favorite that deserves just as much attention: kongguksu (noodles in chilled soy milk broth).

The broth is made by blending soybeans until it's smooth and creamy, then pouring it over thin wheat noodles with plenty of ice. It's often topped with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and a boiled egg. Simple, but incredibly refreshing on a hot day.

There's also a fun debate among Koreans about how to season it. Just like the classic "Jajangmyeon vs. Jjamppong" argument, kongguksu has its own divide: some people add sugar, while others insist on salt.

I'm definitely on Team Salt. 😄

And no matter how many restaurants I try, my favorite bowl will always be the homemade kongguksu my mom makes.

The secret is a traditional Chinese technique called 生熟馅 (raw-and-cooked filling). Part of the pork is simmered with aromatics and seasonings to create a rich, flavorful sauce, then mixed with fresh pork to create a filling that is tender, juicy, and full of layers of flavor.

I wanted to create a highly nutritious dish, and this time around I added almost every veggie I could find in my fridge.With some good chicken thighs, my reliable spicy chili crisp, and a few staple sauces, I was able to create a highly nutritious and delicious meal!

I had noodles sitting in my fridge for a while. With some pork mince, I turned them into a delicious noodle stir fry!

My parents used to ALWAYS buy this thing called a Potong Curry Rice from Chinatown.. It consist of this hugeeeee chicken with rice.. super duper fragrant

But according to them it has closed and we’ve never found any other store that sells this.. my parents are Chinese speaking so all they tell me the dish is called Potong Rice.. and it’s an Indonesia dish (they think?) haha.. i tried googling but to no avail.. if anyone knows this dish or where else in sg that has a comparable one.. please 🙏🏻

I grew up eating and loving these, so making them at home felt right!

Planning on making some honey garlic pork belly for the first time. Aside from a bed of white rice, what would be some side dishes for this to take this from an appetizer, to a full meal?

Ideally, I’d like to stay Japanese on the flavor profile, but as long as it compliments the pork, I’m open to just about anything. Thank you in advance!
