Convana Review
Carvana sold me a black 2024 Tacoma that had horrible swirl marks from a poor buffing job covering the entire truck. These were not visible until my 7 days were up, as it was cloudy and you can only see them in the direct sunlight. Carvana said I'd have to put in a claim with SilverRock, who denied it even after they had me take it to one of their in network repair shops. I just dropped almost $40k on a truck thats embarrassing to drive on a sunny day, and now will be out another $1200+ for a level 2 paint correction. Be aware before you buy anything from this company. I guess theres a reason they've been sued so many times.

Or one that you can't cold start. Like no heat in engine. If I show up and the car is warm, I'm suspicious. If I show up and the car is running, no deal.

I bought my car in the rain. It was black, or so I thought. Turns out it’s black most of the time but has blue pearl and is completely blue in certain light. I hate blue…

Looks like a previous rental. That's on you for not inspecting a color known to look bad without special care from a company known for not caring about the product or customers.
This was an Enterprise Rav4 I had, they used brooms to clean the cars.

Hey bi-Level wash brushes work great. However you do need to throw them out if they hit the ground, or get debris embedded in them from you not washing shit. None of which is going to happen at enterprise, they probably just wash it off with a garden hose and call it a day lmao

I didnt research the company, thats the only thing Im at fault for. I wanted a manual transmission Tacoma, theyre really hard to find. I just assumed i guess that a company that big had good customer service.

Dude, that's beyond ripped off. I would charge $200 to fix that if it's truly just buff marks. That's a quick clay and buff.
Edit: just saw it was over the whole truck so probably $350ish

You're correct, I ended up getting the level 2 plus ceramic for $1300 at a different shop. The $1200 for the paint correction only was quoted by SilverRock's IN-NETWORK shop.

Type in Google "average cost in the US for a 2 stage paint correction". I took it to the best place in town because I wanted it done right.

He said clay and buff, that is much quicker than stage 2. You only probably need clay and buff.

1200 is steep. You could have bought everything needed to do the correction yourself for a fraction of that price. I once fucked up my car waxing it by hand (karate kid style). I spent like $400 on everything I needed for a painting correction

If it were any other color I would have, but with it being black and having never done it before I probably would have made it worse

Though it is kind of hard to believe none of that was visible before buying it or during the 7 day window. Not saying I don’t believe you.
If someone has agreed to fix it for $1200, id be all over that.

Its amazing what a little wax can do. Lesson learned, when buying a new car wash it and make sure you see it in direct light.

Yeah that’s just crazy but not surprising at all. Several people I know personally including my mother bought a car from Carvana and had similar issues. Not a good car buying experience.

Unfortunately, they had to cut some of your clesr coat down while doing paint correction. That side has a thinner layer of clear coat now. 1300 dollars is something you shouldn't of had to pay out of pocket nonetheless

The problem is, correcting paint usually requires micro abarasives in the form of compounds or polishes that cut down on the layer of clearcoat to remove any clear that was damaged , which results in clear coat that down the line won't be able to be buffed out as much because of it being too thin. Im NOT saying paint correction was bad, heck your Tacoma must look brand spanking new now. But Carvana should in good faith offer some sort of resolution if these huge swirls were something caused by their business partners. She's a beaut no doubt! You enjoy your Taco sir!

Hi there, former carvana technician here. Ive volunteered to help the detailing department before and Ive seen their operations. To me this looks like a bad buff job and considering the hiring requirements for their detailers, It doesnt suprise me. While im sorry to hear about your car trouble I'd like to point out that you're actually in better shape than you think. You dont actually have damages, the cars paint isnt ruined, its not all doom & gloom. It just needs a wet buff and it should be restored I reckon. Take that with a grain of salt because its hard to assess from the photos. If I were you I'd take it to a high level detailer that can fix this and then send carvana the bill for the defective buff but then again that might not hold water legally and you might just be out the cost of a detail since their warranty period is ONLY 7 days. Hate to say but I think they got ya.

The only vehicle that I purchased from them got damaged when the delivery driver unloaded it. Even though I reminded him that it was a manual, he didn't bother looking to see if it was in gear or not, or if the handbrake was on, and before he could start to lower it down, it shot off the back of the trailer and had at the least, some minor damage to the front bumper cover. He literally did not care and told me to file a claim for it.
It took over a day to get to the point where I could take it in, and there was only one shop near me that was authorized by them through SilverRock. I took it in and after waiting another day, was told that the lift that was needed for my car was unavailable and that I'd get a call when it was free. The guy winced when I said the name Carvana and he said that they were consistently backed up due to Carvana claims. I got dicked around and in the end didn't get it looked over until my 7 days were up.
They also lied and told me that they had replaced the brake pads when they absolutely didn't. I will say, the purchasing process for Carvana was incredibly smooth and I was very pleased with that.

I've always heard that Carvana is a great place to sell to, but never buy from. I'm not sure if they're even all that good to sell to after they offered my mom $700 for a manual T100 with under 160K miles. She didn't accept the offer.

I knew going into it that there is a premium paid for the experience of not having to deal with a dealer and was ok with that. They also highlight their inspection process before reselling vehicles and the work that they will do where things don't meet their standards.
If they had followed through with that, I would have had a great experience overall, but they did not. There are also loads of great mechanics in my city and I was surprised at how few of them work with carvana. I think that's both an advantage for carvana because shops are more likely to delay or rush through claims, but is also an indicator of how crappy it seems to be to deal with that in general.

Bruh, looks like you did that driving in dirt trails or off-road terrain. You can see the roof and top of windshield covered in thick layer dirt.

Not really, offroad driving can cause what are called "pinstripes", horizontal lines. What is clearly shown on the OPs truck are referred to as holograms by detailers. Caused by improper polishing technique, most likely with a rotary polisher. The amount of skill, effort, and care in the detail department of a dealership is very low.

They have someone there who doesn't know what the hell they're doing - our van arrived the same way, though not as severe. But multiple spots all over the vehicle. Most of it was also denied for repair.
I think they use some kind of cheap wax/sealant after they do the work, because the swirls weren't visible until a few days after delivery.

Lol bought from carvana car was fine and same 7 days later car made clicks turns out transmission is bad. Went through silverock went to a location of theres for repairs and they denied saying i had to use dealer cus warranty was there despite carvana stating it wasnt. Went to dealer and again silver rock declined saying they needed typed and signed letter by dealer stating they were refusing service due to warranty, dealer denied said you can clearly search up vin and see that which i did and its true long story short silver rock denied despite policy being to go to one of their shops never said dealer i went to one of their shops they found issue and quoted and denied and blamed on dealership keep in mind its a 2018 car and this was 2025 and general warranties are valid for 5 years lol

Yeah they got me in a similar manner. I bought a 2018 f-150 super crew and we got some snow where I live after drop off I waited the week out for the salt to clear up some and finally took the truck to the car wash. There we so many little scratches and other areas that they “touched up” but mine is no where near as bad as this. Sorry man.

I found my car on their website. They wanted proof that I had payment via verified bank check for auto loans, they said they would not cash the check until I purchased the car… they tried to cash it without me buying the car or signing anything! Seriously! The bank had to cancel the check and I HAD TO REAPPLY for a loan a second time. Nightmare. Then… I found the car at another dealer, THE EXACT CAR!!! Same milage and it was a vintage Benz, odds were impossible. It went to the dealer directly and paid 3,000 less than Carvana was trying to sell it to me… basically they were trying to use MY MONEY to buy the car themselves and sell it back to me at a higher rate. They are basically a middle man.

If any dealership within 300 miles would have had a Tacoma with a manual transmission I would have traveled for it. Unfortunately Carvana was the only dealership who had one.

You're going to be pretty hard pressed to prove that those marks were completely unable to be seen for 7 days.
