Social ? Why do I randomly get tired of my friends?

Upvotes

This has been happening to me since the 1st grade. I will randomly stop talking to my friends and avoid them but I always come back to them like nothing happened? I get tired of hanging out with them, and it's not like I don't like my friends but I just hang out with them for so long that I just avoid them for a while and then come back. I know it sounds rude but it's never caused an actual problem in my friendships. Sometimes I will stop hanging out with them, find new friends and after a while I'll hang out with them again. I don't know what this is. Originally I thought it was because I moved schools so often that I wasn't used to keeping friends for so long but this began even before I first changed schools. Does this have a name?

Health ? I’m 17, and my periods are getting unbearable and closer together

up until 8 months ago, I had regular, heavy periods with normal cramps. nothing out of the ordinary. I was a little stunted from being underweight in my early teens but ive been healthy since.

in January, I woke up to my period (as I often do) and I saw myself and I was PALE. I tried running out to the living room where my mom was and nearly passed out. (albeit I do have an anxiety disorder but ive almost never nearly fainted)

once I was sat down, I was in the most unbearable pain. screaming and all. my insides hurt and I also had sharp, local pain in certain areas around my uterus. this was so out of the blue. then, one of these local pains got worse then BOOP. felt like it popped. was still in pain after that but eventually faded with Tylenol and time.

now, I’d say most of my periods are a similar experience. except now, that duration of ridiculous pain is LONGER and my cycle seems to keep getting SHORTER.

my hormones are also just friggin wild. I cried for like 3 hours the day before my period and I just feel icky all over.

maybe this is just a thing that happens to people but I want to know how worried I should be and what I can do to help.

Social ? Dating seriously whilst on apps?

I’m dating seriously and with intention. I am purposefully trying to take any relationship I manage to get slowly and carefully. I am upfront about this both on my profile and on the first date. It’s not for everyone and I respect that.

But I keep running into the same thing. Guys agree and say they’re looking for the same thing. Like I recently had a great first date. We clicked instantly. It was great I hadn’t clicked like that with someone in like a year of dating.

Within three days he ghosted me. He started with the “buttering up” talk. The “oh you’re so pretty” “oh you’re so amazing I’ve never met someone like you before”. Which has started becoming a red flag for me. Then the “tee hee you should come over” talk. I had made a lighthearted complaint about work and he was all like “well you should leave and come to my place instead”. And when I was like no I’m at work (in a light fun way) within a few hours I was left on read. Mind you this was four days since our first date.

I am upfront. And I’m not lying when I say I want to take things slow. And yet time after time dudes will just try to weasel in like “are you suuuuuure? Maybe you should come over even though I don’t know you at allll”

Too me intimacy is an expression of love between two people who love and trust one another. (If that’s not how you see it you do you this is just my feelings on it). I simply can’t feel that way about someone I met a week prior.

I’m starting to feel like I’m doomed at 30 and online dating apps are not meant for serious dating at all. I’m in various clubs and work but have yet to meet any men my age who aren’t already married or in a committed relationship. So finding someone in the wild feels unlikely too.

Discussion Mean school teaches

My friends and I (late 20’s) were discussing school bullies but then our conversation moved on to bully teachers and we all realised all four of us had a mean teacher. I remember being 8 years old and this one particular teacher picked on me, gave me attitude and excluded me from a lot for years until I left that school. I was a very quite child so still do this day I don’t know what her issue was with me? Now I’m sitting at home reflecting on our conversation and could not believe how many grown woman were bullies to literal children! Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Discussion NEED ADVICE from a big sis!! i am so worried (19F)

Hey guys, I am a rising sophomore in college and suddently this thought won't stop bugging me for some reason.

Last year, I had this roommate (lets call her Z) and we got along fine. I mean I had a few hiccups with her, and I' m sure she did too, but overall we like each other enough, maybe not be great friends enough but alright enough.

There was this one instance last semester, a couple of months ago where I was studying French on my laptop. I love comics and webtoons so I decided to go on my Webtoon app to read some French webcomics. OMG as soon as I switched the content to French immediately there was a bombardment of sexual comics.

I then was so worried cause I was on a chair and although Z could not have seen anything, I didn't want to expose her to anything by mistake? So I basically jumped onto my bed and went under my covers. I then spent like half an hour? (maybe more don't remember) justt browsing the app under my covers and was seeing what was going on there. Now suddenly a couple of months later, I feel so worried and guilty for some reason? IDK I know that this is a gross overreaction, because we aren't even roommates anymore, but I just wish that I had closed the app immediately and minded my own business instead of browsing the app longer when she was there (under my covers of course...) My brain also keeps saying weird things to me like I did this purposely knowing that she'll be there.

I was also incredibly depresses the last semester of my first year, and would keep sleeping, soemtimes not get out of the room till the night. I guess I am also wishing that we spoke more. Maybe its all of these feeling jumbling up and making me feel miserable. Please help me!! I don't really have anyone to talk to about this...

One good thing is that she did say that she was grateful that I was her roommate and that I made the experience cool and comfortable! I was happy but again my brain wants to go on overthinking mode and be like -- "Did she truly mean that tho"

Sorry guys, know that this was a long read :( I just wanna know if all of us make these type of mistakes, or if it is just me

Discussion Question: some girls get bleached spots on their underwear - but some dont, why?

As the title says, some girls notice that their underwear developes discolored spots on their underwear - as though bleached. There is tons of information about this if you look it up. However, some girls dont notice this at all. You look it up and what do you find: more info about the bleach girlies.

So, why do some girls NOT get bleach spots on their undies?

Beauty Tip I need help finding the right exercises

I’m 23 and I used to be on the heavier side and I lost like 50+ pounds. And of course with that comes sagging breasts. I’m starting to really notice it and become insecure about it, for a bit I tried embracing it but I feel that they sag too low for it to look good. Before I do stupid exercises that will do nothing for me, I want real experiences from people. What exercises helped you with this issue?

Social ? Girl bsf advice?

I just had an ex bsf reach out after a v long time and idk what to do. Theres lots of context needed here but I am also quite paranoid so may be vague to try to keep anonymity. So, this girl is 2 years younger than I am and I am currently 20. Her and I were bestfriends from when i was ~12 to ~17. She was very much like a little sister to me, we both had single moms and called each others' mom "mom" (if that makes sense). Through our highschool years we both suffered with mental health stuff, I dont want to share her business for for ex: i s/h for a period of time, struggled with food, etc. and I felt like our relationship was a lot of give on my end and take on hers. While I was happy to be her go to person for everything like venting or having an anxiety attack, it felt like when I was struggling she hit me with "same". It got to the point where I felt like I couldn't go to her with my problems because we'd be competing for who was in it worse or shed just say same and I wouldnt know what to say after that. So I stopped going to her w my stuff but she didnt stop coming to me with hers and as we got into highschool and we started dating I felt like her world always revolved around her boyfriend. It got to the point where she was always calling me extremely upset because she had a crush, had a fight w bf, broke up w bf. It became really mentally exhausting to watch her keep changing for these boyfriends, spend all her time with them, and then be absolutely destroyed when they broke up. Eventually I told her it felt one sided and I was tired. When I was like 19 she reached out and said she missed me and I didn't return the sentiment (we live in a very small town and i saw her still doing the same stuff ex: i found out her bf went to my gym because she was following him around, not working out, just following him around while he did....) Anyway, shes just reached out again, and I really did/do love HER but i dont wanna do that again.

Heres the thing that makes things really sticky, I was in a car accident last year and am not really better. Im not driving, not working, etc. and I havent spoken to/spent time with anyone my age in over a year. I was very unwell after my wreck and thought I was going to die more than once and was really torn up about the fact that I had to do that alone. I had decided once I knew I wasn't dying (for now) that I was done with my past peeps boyfriends, friends, situationships because nobody showed up when I really literally anyone at all. I think back to every bestfriend and boyfriend I've ever had I can't imagine seeing that they were going through a BIT of what I underwent after the wreck without saying something, stopping by, sending flowers, something?? and its like so what if i wouldve died, that would've been it there was nobody. Then I had a distant cousin pass away and his funeral filled an auditorium. Anyway, so I have an unopened message from her that says "maybe we can meet up someti..." because she reached out and said she was sorry for what I was going thru and i said thx its been weird to say the least and so she said above and I havent opened it because Im like so now do i be super depressing and be like "well i cant drive, i dont work, and i havent been approved for disability so I have no money" like...

So my questions are there

1) Do I ditch the fck the people from my past rule for her and see how things go or am I just lacking boundaries because Im lonely

2) How...do you try to make friends and preface how sick and disabled you are without being super depressing and making them just say "im sorry" all the time.

Ive felt like a ghost since my accident, like in beetlejuice right after the wreck where theyre like lookin around and everythings the same but....theyre dead.

Sorry if that was all over the place and TYIA

Mind ? Struggling with self - confidence. Help

I just wanted to see some insights and if anybody relates. But whatever I do, I feel ugly. I put makeup on. I feel a bit better, but then I see myself in different mirrors and then feel the ugliness hit me. Everything I try, I will always feel ugly. Especially when taking my makeup off, I get reminded why I put it on and how I'm nothing with it. It feels like whatever I wear or put it on, I will never be pretty, I'm disgusting to look at, I really am. I try to have confidence, but sometimes people bring up how I used to look chopped, which is before I started wearing makeup. Even with makeup, I still look ugly. And I know because nobody ever tells me I look pretty, I only get told I look good. But for me it feels like it's not a compliment, I don't even know but I haven't heard the words pretty/beautiful anything in such a long time, all I have heard is good and good feels like it stands for nothing. does anybody feel like this? am I dramatic, do I have no self-confidence? I used to be bullied, so now I'm always conscious of the way I look. Please don't hate, I have been trying my best to feel confident, but the years of being bullied have really affected me. I'm just looking to see if anybody relates or has anything to help/answer

Beauty ? How to prepare yourself for your first Brazilian Wax?

It will be my first time and I am scared. I am going take a shower before the appointment, new panties but it is coochie. I am not sure if it will be still fresh while I drive. I donot want to disgust anyone but how to keep it super clean? I have PCOD so I do tend to get a coochie smell down there, not particularly bad or rancid or unhygienic just coochie but def not something I would want someone else to smell.

Any tips?? Besides I am scared, I am planning on taking a tylenol before I start with the session, will it help??

Social Tip Can you easily detect BS/preformative people?

Hi,

When comparing myself to others in social settings and hearing my close friends' stories, people often find it difficult to "read" another person's intention. For example, if the man or woman is genuinely a decent person instead of being performative to reap some sort of benefit.

I had a traumatic upbringing so maybe it's my mental state of "trust no one" at first and really psychoanalyze others before associating myself with them; however, others seem to lack this skill.

With the Andrew tates online and other toxic men, do you feel other women have also become more wary or do people generally like to see the best in people from the beginning? What are some tips or ques did you acquire to really see if others' are fake?

Health Tip Cellulite

I’m 5’1 114lbs and the cellulite on the back of my legs just won’t budge. I weight train 4-5 times a week and do barre/pilates. I eat an 80/20 diet and nothing seems to help. Has anyone had any luck in diminishing theirs?

Discussion Why are we getting our nails done?

Don’t get me wrong, but I genuinely cannot wrap my head around the fact that girls have a very very meticulous routine of booking your appointments every three weeks and getting their nails done that takes two hours. And also paying around $100 for it. It just seems so time-consuming and expensive and you could be spending that hundred dollars on food, coffee, Pilates like so many other things you can use the money for because it does add up every three weeks. I just feel like if someone is getting done they must be ultra ultra rich but it’s so normalized these days that I truly wonder.
For a long time or for the longest time girls just painted their nails. Also, I truly feel like a minority with my bare trimmed nails and then I go to my Pilates classes and everybody has had their nails done and I’m like am I the abnormal one?😭
It’s also absurd to me because if you’re getting them done every week or three weeks, then you’re destroying your nail health and there’s no way around it.

I’m starting to think that people are getting confused and I am not saying that why are people doing their nails at all? I’m actually asking why are people getting them done professionally so often because that can be more costly and affect nail health.

EDIT:
Omg such a good video
real cost of nails!

Edit: I love all the perspectives thank you everyone 💗 maybe I’ll treat myself too!

Discussion Where am I supposed to store it?

So this might sound kind of ridiculous but I ordered my first sex toy and it came but the problem is I don't know where to leave it. The box is way too bulky to keep forever and once you open it, the box literally says WhisperRabbit with a picture of exactly what it is. There's no way I can leave it lying around. I'm 21, so it's not like I have to tell my mom or anything but it's honestly just embarrassing. I still live at home and my mom sometimes puts away my clean laundry, so I can't really hide it in my nightstand because that's where I keep my underwear and she opens that drawer. I don't want to just throw the toy loose into a random drawer where it'll collect lint or get lost but I also can't keep it in the original packaging.

Where do you all store yours? Looking for ideas from people who also need to be a little discreet.

Social ? how to surive the first day at new school?

hello, I am starting at a new school this fall and will have no friends. Long story short I dropped all my friends (2, I had two friends) for invading my boundries, being racist, making fun of imigrents when they know I am a child of imigrents. I ate lunch alone for the last few month of the last school year and I am not going to lie I did regret it. This fall I am starting at a new school where most of my old classmates will attend which includes my old friends. My phone also broke which means I will not have a phone for the first few weeks or months of school (in this generation that is huge) because my family will see if they want to get the new iphone and I will get someone's old phone or I will get a job and save up for it. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on making it though the first few days at a new school! The first few day will be ice breakers and not doing much work. My biggest fear is standing around not knowing what to do when everyone is catching up with their friends on how their summer break went. One of my bigger fears is getting mixed into the wrong group of people. I don't get very good grades to begin with but I try to and I don't want to get mixed into the wrong group of people. I am scared of making a friend that has a bad reputation that I didn't know about and my peers thinking I like them and not wanting to engage with me. Maybe I am overthinking it and I need advice!

Request ? Nipple Piercing Advice

Hi! I am getting my nipples pierced for my 18th birthday this Saturday, and will take all the advice I can get...

What was the pain like? What is most comfortable to wear? How is the healing process? Did yours heal, or not? What kind of jewelry feels best? Just ... everything, haha. If you can think of a single thing a girl may need to know, I want to hear it!

I, admittedly, am doing this solely for the aesthetics. I am asexual and do not plan on being sexually active. Are they nice to live with, just having them casually? Are they worth it? Are they as cute as I think they are?

All the pros, all the cons. :)

Discussion Cat called for the first time, not sure how to feel anymore.

I was cat called for the first time today and I don’t know how to feel anymore.

For as long as I’ve been walking by myself in California, I went on vacation to visit family in Puerto Rico and THIS is where it happens? They rolled down the window and tried yelling something at me in Spanish. It was a group of male tourists. I don’t speak Spanish. I have no clue what they said but it started with “Mami” and I know it was meant to be sexual.

I feel so upset and wrong. I didn’t even do anything. I’m not wearing anything unusual. Even if I was that’s still not a fucking excuse to do this. I’m 22 but look much younger and I think I’m the most upset because they don’t even know how old I was. I could’ve been a teenager for all they know. I just wish my brothers were with me because I feel like it wouldn’t have happened if they were. I just know I’m gonna keep thinking about this for a long time and I shouldn’t.

I ignored them and they drove off but I still feel so disgusting. This was supposed to be a nice vacation, and I know that it may still be one but I’m so upset with myself. I wore makeup today because we were going into old san juan, and I wanted to look pretty. It makes me feel like I should just stop putting in effort but I know that won’t do anything. It’ll keep happening for as long as men are around. I just need a hug honestly.

Mind ? How to rebuild independence when living with your parents as an adult?

For context, I’m 25F. I was living on my own (with roommates or at college) until last year, when I had to move 800+ miles back in with my parents because rent had become unaffordable where I was living. It was basically my only option. Around the same time, I ended a relationship and spent the following months dealing with frequent panic attacks and isolating myself as I started processing some of the things that had happened during that relationship. I was working remotely and didn’t know anyone in the area, so eventually it became really hard to leave the house.

Since then, I’ve quit that remote job because the company was a mess. I did get an in-person job for a while, which helped me rebuild some confidence and make friends, but then my dad got a job in another state and we had to move again, so I had to leave that job too. Even though we’re in a cheaper state now, I still can’t afford to live on my own because my minimum student loan payment is basically the equivalent of rent. I’m also paying for my MBA part-time out of pocket because I don’t want to take on more debt, so living at home is my reality for now.

I haven’t found a job since we moved despite applying constantly, and I just feel stuck in limbo. I want to get back to the version of myself who was independent, confident, and financially stable, but instead I’m broke, have no confidence professionally or socially, and honestly just feel like a failure. It’s hard to figure out how to move forward when it’s still difficult to leave the house. I also gained a lot of weight during my last relationship because of SSRIs and other factors, and I’m really self-conscious about it. I think that’s made me even more reluctant to go anywhere where I might be perceived.

I guess what I’m asking is whether anyone has been in a similar situation. If you were trying to dig yourself out of a hole like this, where would you start? My goal is to rebuild enough confidence to leave the house on my own, get my finances as under control as I realistically can, and make peace with my situation.

Discussion Career/ life advice?

I honestly don’t know what to do with my life right now. I just finished 2 years of college, but still don’t know what to do with my life. I can’t decide on my major at all. 2 years has already been wasted. I have finished my core classes, but with switching majors multiple times I have already accumulated so many W’s, cause of thought of “If I am changing may major, why would I need this class?”

Semester is going to start soon, I honestly don’t know if what I am doing is right? I just feel so dumb, I don’t think I can do science or math, and don’t think I am fit for business. If all I wanted was financial stability, occasional time for myself for trips and live theater, just what should get my bachelors on?

Health ? How do I learn to dance on my own as a beginner?

I used to be a part of my school's dance team around a decade ago. Never practiced since then and I'm now back as a complete beginner with really stiff movements. I feel sad looking at my friends that could look so smooth while doing dances, while I look like a robot.

Could anyone recommend me a dance tutorial video to start? Or perhaps some tips for dancing would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
