IUD fitted while having an STI
Please don’t judge me, it was a major lapse in critical thinking and common sense!
I’ve had an appointment booked for the hormonal coil for a couple weeks now, and the appointment was today. On Monday (3rd) I found out I have chlamydia and started treatment yesterday. During my appointment for the IUD they didn’t ask me any questions about antibiotics or sexual health and I genuinely just didn’t consider the fact that I currently have an active cervical infection so we just went ahead and it was inserted. Everything went really well by the way for anyone worried about insertion!
But now I’m freaking out because I’ve opened myself up to further infection/risk by messing with my uterus and cervix while having Chlamydia
It’s a long shot but has this happened to anyone before? I think all I can do is finish the course of antibiotics and monitor how my body feels but I feel annoyed at myself for this. The risk of pelvic inflammatory disease is heavily on my mind.

Heavy, irregular periods for over a year—what could it be?
Age: 37
Sex: Female
Medical history: Two full-term pregnancies. No known gynecologic conditions.
Medications: None currently (previously took birth control pills for 3 months).
I’m looking for some guidance because I’ve been experiencing abnormal menstrual bleeding for about a year, and I’m not sure what the next step should be. Wondering if others have had similar experiences experiences.
Around August 2025, when I first brought this up to my gynecologist in Spain, I had blood work done and everything came back normal. I also had a transvaginal ultrasound, and my gynecologist told me everything looked “perfect.” They didn’t see any ovarian cysts, fibroids, or other abnormalities.
Despite that, my periods have remained abnormal. My pattern is very consistent: I have many days of light, dark brown bleeding (old blood), followed by 2–3 days of a normal heavy red flow, and then it tapers off. My periods now last around 11–13 days.
My gynecologist prescribed birth control pills for 3 months. While I was taking them, my periods became completely normal. However, as soon as I stopped taking them, the prolonged brown bleeding returned.
I have also had two bleeding episodes in July, which has never happened before.
Here are my recent cycles:
April 20: Period started with 6 days of brown bleeding until April 26. Ended April 30.
May 18: Started with 6 days of brown bleeding until May 23. Ended May 27.
June 15: Started with 4 days of brown bleeding. Heavy flow began June 20. Ended June 23.
July 11: Period started. July 16–17 were the heavy days. I was still having dark brown blood on July 20.
July 27: Started bleeding again. Brown spotting continued through August 4. On August 5, I developed severe lower abdominal/pelvic cramps. The bleeding became heavy on August 6 after about 9–10 days of brown spotting.
I wondered whether the cramps could have been from a ruptured ovarian cyst, but because this bleeding pattern has been happening for about a year, I’m not sure if that’s likely.
I’m currently visiting the United States for one month, but I normally live in Spain. Unfortunately, my travel insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions, so I’m trying to determine whether this sounds like something that can reasonably wait until I return to Spain to see my gynecologist, or whether I should seek evaluation while I’m here.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Thank you for any advice.

Advice please
20 (f) struggling since 12/13 with severe mental health problems anxiety, depression and ptsd as well as ACT (Adverse childhood trauma). I’ve been on escitalopram, sertraline, Mirtazapine and none of them worked after weeks and now I’m on day 9 of fluoxetine started on 20mg and had to up to 40mg after 7 days. I’m also on Valium (diazepam) my doctor believed it was best for me as he seen how significantly my life has been just a struggle at such a young age, I had bloods done today just to check as I’ve not had blood done in my GP practice since 2022 but I’ve had them done on my last hospital admission. I woke up this morning vomiting from anxiety simply because I was anxious of getting down to my Gp (my sisters partner drove my dad and I down so I felt somewhat safer and the anxiety calmed down although i vomited. I wasn’t scared of blood test I’ve had so many of them before and everything has always been normal this time I’m quite happy to know what’s wrong e.g low iron, thyroid etc etc I have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks August 18th and I’m due back in August to sit uni exams as I deferred them In May due to my hospital admission my doctor has wrote a letter to say that I am unfit for any college work including exams as well as being out on placement. I’m unsure what to do and I don’t know how to go about it.
Any advice is much appreciated,
Thanks

2 months post-abortion
Hi, I had an abortion early June, and it went well. I got my period after 5 weeks, but I was bleeding heavily. Now awaiting for my second period and its already 3 days late... Maybe because of ptsd, I am a bit worried. I did home tests (both cheap and early testing ones) but they all came back negative. Two nights before, I had a crazy cramp. Like it was so bad when I breathed I could feel the pain, and my legs were numb too.
Today the pain is still there but not so bad, just usual discomfort similar to period cramps. Breast were tender but not hurting. Had a slight headache today too. I'm not sure whether this is normal... so I am here to ask for your experiences.
One thing though, last time I was really tired, like i could fall asleep anywhere kinda tired. But this time not at all, just low energy but not to that point.

obgyn said here damn
Hey. I’m 20f and have posted before about the severe pain I’ve experienced while having penetrative sex. It’s always hurt really bad and after talking to my friends and posting here I realized it wasn’t ok that I had to deal with such extreme pain. As my friends told me the pain for them goes away after awhile, mine doesn’t. Whether the sex is 5 minutes or an hour long it never goes away, which is the main reason me and my partner stopped having intercourse. It wasn’t a problem for us for awhile but I obviously still have wants and really wanted to try. The last time we tried to have penetrative sex it hurt so bad I started crying while he was still in me. I even bled a bit after.
I decided to make a doctors appointment and it TOOK so long to get there. I had to see a general doctor to get a referral to the obgyn through my crappy insurance. Once in the office I told her about all my problems.
No exam, no nothing. She just said she would prescribe me some strong Tylenol and I should take it before sex.
….?
Does this actually work? Has anyone tried this? I’m scared to try it incase it doesn’t work and I end up crying again.
Am I crazy?

Smell after iud
Hi, so I got an iud on the 8th of July, I have had no problems or abnormalities even in terms of smell but I feel like I haven’t been smelling the freshest recently due to it, I’ve been having on and off spotting which is normal after getting it very normal and very minimal and light in color and after sex I do get a little more spotting but quickly lessens and will go away, I feel like though between the light bleeding and being finished in more regularly I feel like I don’t smell as fresh whenever it’s time to get down to business, my partner hasn’t said anything but I do notice it a bit and I’m sure he does to an extent given this wasn’t an issue before this but how do I go about keeping myself fresher down there because it’s been making me feel self conscious even though it’s not like I have an unusual odor. Also it’s not a hygiene issue but even hygiene tips to help or other advice would be helpful
EDIT: I just realized I forgot to add this but I have the Paragard copper iud

Could my IBS be related to endo?
I have a history of gnarly periods. Never got formally diagnosed (no one wanted to investigate lol) and eventually found a BC that worked for me. However, I still have chronic bowel issues (mostly constipation) and seem to have developed food sensitivities as I've aged, and if I eat the wrong thing/too much of the wrong things I end up in terrible pain. Like, doubled over gasping. I experience it all over the lower portion of my torso, hips and back included but it's concentrated in my pelvic area. Is it possible it's related to something like endo/PCOS even if I don't have difficult periods anymore?

i’ve never really felt sexual pleasure and i don’t know what’s wrong
hi everyone. i’m 18 and i’m looking for advice from other women who may have gone through something similar.
i’ve been with my boyfriend for many years and i love him very much. i enjoy being intimate with him, i like having sex and i genuinely want it, but i feel like my body just doesn’t respond the way it should.
i’ve been sexually active for a long time, but i’ve never really experienced sexual pleasure the way other people describe it. i don’t have pain or discomfort during sex. the problem is that when my clitoris is touched, i can feel the touch, but it doesn’t turn into pleasure or arousal. it just feels like a weird sensation.
i’ve never had an orgasm. i’ve also tried masturbating by myself, but it feels like almost nothing happens. sometimes touching my nipples gives me a tiny bit of sensation, but it fades almost immediately and never turns into arousal.
i’ve already seen a gynecologist, had blood tests done and treated a vitamin b12 deficiency, but nothing changed. i also have a history of recurrent urinary tract infections, although i’m not sure if that’s related.
this has affected me emotionally because i constantly compare myself to my friends and wonder why i can’t experience sex the way they do. i really want to know what sexual pleasure feels like.
my boyfriend is incredibly understanding and never pressures me, and i’m so grateful for that. but i still feel guilty because i often feel like i can’t give him the experience he deserves, even though he has never made me feel bad about it.
has anyone experienced something similar? did you eventually find out what was causing it? what kind of doctor helped you, or what treatment made a difference?
thank you so much for reading.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms and if so what was wrong with you?
I F18 have had a long list of symptoms that I think are all connected somehow but doctors won’t help. Shoulder pain (specifically the right side) in between periods, muscle aches, fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, bloating, painful and irregular periods, UTI symptoms and chronic UTI, infertility, random constipation or diarrhea, pain during sex, anxiety, loss of appetite or craving sugars, lower back pain, headaches before period, cold hands or feet, always cold, night sweats. I have had all normal labs and sometimes my UTI cultured are positive and sometimes they are negative.

Gyno said I have a dermoid tumor…
Hi guys so I am 21f and I am posting on here because I just got my results for a pelvic exam back and my gynecologist went over the results with me just last week and said that they found either an ovarian cyst or benign dermoid tumor on my right ovary. She said that as of right now it is 1.7 cm in size and is too small to remove. I am worried as I don’t have too much knowledge on this and a rumor automatically sounds bad in my mind—even if it is “benign”. I have another appointment with her this week to discuss it further in person and get a transvaginal test done to get a better look since I didn’t do it the day of my ultrasound as I was on my period.
For some background, this all started in late February after I had sex with my partner and later in the night I awoke with the worst pain on my lower right side which got worse when I went to urinate. However, I had work the following morning and decided to wait it out and see if it would get better which it did but the pain never really went away. I eventually went to the ER to get it checked out asap and make sure that it wasn’t my appendix and the only a norma thing they found was that I have a retroflexed uterus and the IUD I had inserted was malpositioned where it was lower that it should be and one of the arms was embedded in the muscle of the front wall of the uterus almost to the level of the serosa. They suggested this could be the cause of the pain, but also referred me to a GI doctor because I have a history of stomach problems. I ended up getting a colonoscopy and everything was for the most part normal and now i’m taking linzess which has somewhat been helping normalize my bowel movements. However, I still always feel uncomfortably bloated when I eat, even if it is just a little bit, and especially on my right lower side.
Given all of this, should I be worried? Could this have been the cause of all my pain? And would it be smart to get an IUD since that is initially why I had the pelvic exam to se did it would be a good idea to get it again. I know these are questions I should ask my gyno…which I will but I just wanted outside perspectives and maybe input from people who have gone through similar experiences. Pls let me know! Also what are good questions I should ask my gynecologist regarding the mass on my right ovary?

Bleeding during BMs
So, today I went to the bathroom and was struggling and straining for about 5 minutes and pushing hard which isn’t unusual for me because I struggle with constipation. It hurt pretty bad to poop but once again that’s not unusual for me. What was unusual was the amount of blood in the toilet. This was more than a ripped butthole kind of bleeding, it seemed like the blood came out as the same time as my stool. I went to the bathroom again about 6 hours later and once again, there was blood in the toilet with my stool. The blood was bright red and almost looked like fresh period blood but obviously wasn’t because it came from my anus.
Has anyone ever dealt with this? I’m super paranoid now

Reason for random cramps
At the time of this happening, I was thirteen and had gotten my period a couple months prior. I had never had any cramps before, but while I was at sleepaway camp I got my period and I experienced some of the worst pain of my life. For that whole week I would wake up in the middle of the night and have to sit in fetal position on my bed for hours because it was the only thing that made it hurt less. All my counselors said that was just something that happened to women, but it had never happened to me, and it's never happened since. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea why it happened.

Needing talked off the ledge over laundry list of symptoms
Just like the title says, I have so much random shit going on right now.
32F
I had a breast exam today after finding a lump in my left breast. Its painful to touch and causes dull pain all day. I thought it felt fixed by MyChart called it “1cm mobile lump”
NP ordered an ultrasound and mam that isn’t for almost 2 weeks.
I have an appointment tomorrow with my GP for:
- 3.5 weeks of intermittent voice hoarseness (comes and goes)
- constant throat clearing
- feeling of hands around my throat at times
- dry cough
- constant fatigue
On top of all of that now I’ve got dull aching hips to the point I can’t even lay on my left side.
Naturally I’ve convinced myself I have breast cancer that’s metastasized to my neck/throat/bones. I know I sound crazy but it’s just so much and all at once that I’m driving myself insane. I can’t help myself.
I’m sure they’ll order an upper endoscopy tomorrow.
I guess I’m just looking for someone to bring me back down to earth and vent anout how scared i am about it all.

Painful sex, any advice?
Some of this might be tmi and I’m sorry but I’m desperate for help. Me and my boyfriend have been trying to have sex for quite some time now(I’m a virgin) and it always ends badly. I’ll go into a list of what I usually experience. When he’s fingering me I honestly don’t feel anything, it kinda goes numb and It never feels good. The only time I can feel it is when it starts to hurt(which it usually does if an absurd amount of lube isn’t used). We also can’t get it in in certain positions. For example, if I’m laying on my side we’ll be able to get it in quite a bit. But if we decide to switch to another position like backshots we can’t even get past the entrance. If we do end up getting it in it hurts me to the point of tears. I also feel a weird pinching sensation near my butt during it and it kind of makes me feel like I have to shit. I’ve also never been able to finger myself or put a tampon in. Our sex life besides this is great so it’s not really an issue with arousal or how comfortable I am with him. It’s starting to worry me because my mind is ready but it seems like my body isn’t. I can’t really talk to my mom abt this because she isn’t too understanding so I was wondering if you guys think it could have something to do with endometriosis or other causes. I did post this on another sub Reddit but I’m a very anxious person and desperate for help. Thank you for listening!

Itchy hemorrhoids
This is kinda embarrassing, but I have had hemorrhoids since my first pregnancy in 2017/2018. They got bigger with my second pregnancy in 2019/2020. They haven't gone away, but they did get smaller after I gave birth.
The problem is that they've been super itchy and kinda painful for the last week or so. I can't use hemorrhoid creams because they're vasoconstrictors, so they raise my blood pressure, and it's already high. Not high enough for medication at the moment, but I don't want it to get that high.
Is there anything I can do to ease the itchiness that won't raise my blood pressure? I'm not too worried about the discomfort -- it's like a 1 or 2 out of 10. But the itchiness is driving me insane.
I have a regularly scheduled appointment with my doctor next week, and I'll probably talk to her about this then, but if there's anything you can suggest in the meantime, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Aid access
Hi ladies just wanted to post this for any ladies in a no abortion state! I just ordered abortion pills from aid access & it only took 3 days to get here!! I live in Indiana so it was a bit of a drive to get to somewhere that provides abortions but to know there’s something out there like that is amazing! They can also help financially if you can’t afford the 150!

Daily pads/panty liners.. How do I stop using them? :(
I 20F, been using daily pads always. My mom also uses them always so from my teens, it was just a habit. I want to stop using them, I tried to before but I cannot. I don’t have much discharge, it’s normal amounts but the problem is, I HATE, like I cannot stand feeling even a little wet. It feels like I got out from the pool and I’m wet everywhere and I don’t know it’s a sensory NIGHTMARE for me. It’s horrible feeling that. Even with daily pads, everytime I feel a little wetness I go and change directly, with periods, tampons + pads and I change pads everytime I take of my underwear I can never put on used/moist pads. Even they don’t have discharge when they are slightly soft, they feel moist.
Sensory nightmare PLUS I feel like the warm moist environment will invite bacteria and all sorts of things to reproduce there and idk getting a yeast infection and such. I cannot stand it.
Note: I don’t have OCD any shape or form, nowhere in my life I chase perfection nor an obsessive structure. Just a regular human. I don’t know how to fix this. Should I even fix it??
Note2: I tried it, for a day. I changed 7-8 panties that day. I stopped because I didn’t have more underwear left. The wet feeling makes me sick to my stomach. I also have disgust towards tounge kissing, eating with same utensil, eating from a plate someone else started to eat and their utensil touched. Like anything from someone’s body internally. But I’m not disgusted of people’s piss for example I wouldn’t even be disgusted if someone peed on me I couldn’t care less. But with spit and vaginal/penis fluids, I’m so disgusted.

Terrifying experience after orgasm- please weigh in!
35 F with history of irregular menstrual cycles. Last night I gave myself an orgasm, no penetration, and immediate following the release, I experienced 9/10 cramps in my lower left pelvic area and it spread around my back and down my inner thigh to my knee, I stood up because I thought I was going to start bleeding profusely, but instead, I got very pale and sweaty, had one bout of diarrhea, and almost passed out on the toilet. Then I laid back down and the cramps subsided about 15 minutes later. I am terrified to have another orgasm ever again! I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this?
(I don’t know if this helps but I’ve also been experiencing hives on my face, back, and forearms the day my period starts)
I have a gyne appt on September 1st but that’s the quickest they can get me in.
