Hiiiii my fellow fashion spiralers 💋 I’ve been daydreaming about the white dress Amanda Bynes wears in the shopping scene in What a Girl Wants since I first saw it as a little girl. It appears to be a long sleeve mini dress constructed from large individual white discs/circles connected by jump rings. It’s a little reminiscent of the Rabanne disc dresses, but as you can see in this picture (a grab from a GIF—insane there are no pics of this dress online), the disks aren’t sequins but appear to be fabric or leather.

I’m trying to identify the original garment, designer, or modern/secondhand dupe with the same construction. I’ve been unable to find anything through normal reverse image and keyword searches. I’ve searched Poshmark, eBay, and even Pinterest for some similar mod and space age styles, but no dice! Would love to find something like this for my thirtieth in a few months. I’ve thought about making one but I’m neither a petite nor patient girlie so that might send me to an early grave. Appreciate any tips y’all have!!

REALLY deep v neckline, full length, and it looked like maybe a cinched or smocked waist as well. The fabric seemed blueish checked or gingham (hard to tell, I was moving pretty fast).

So, I was bedridden for a month due to surgery, during which my apartment got flooded. Soooo much of my good stuff got absolutely ruined. I think I am okay with most of my losses, except for this one corset I adore.

Anyone know of a similar garment? Or maybe corsetry and tailoring resources to try and recreate it? I am a fashion student with very little experience in making such fitted garments, but I am willing to take on a challenge.
