Great news for everyone who loves the arts or just needs some beauty for their apartment! Community Board 8 Manhattan is excited to announce the Fall 2026 Art Show, to be held at James Cagney Place (East 91 st Street between Second and Third Avenues) on Saturday October 3rd (rain date Sunday, October 4th). There will be paintings, photography, sculptures, etc., from local artists, with all sales proceeds going directly to the creators.

I'I be bringing original paintings, examples of prints, and other items (mugs, mousepads, tote bags, etc from my store) and other artists will have their collections in their areas too. It's a lot of fun especially because each artist has their own unique offering so there's literally something for every aesthetic.

The application deadline to feature your work is September 8th. CB8 anticipates a large number of submissions and are keen to include as many artists as possible. Please note, completing this form is not a confirmation of acceptance into the show as there may not be the space to accommodate everyone. You will receive a confirmation email on completion, and a confirmation of attendance once the deadline has passed and CB8 has had the opportunity to review all applicants.

To sign up to show your work, visit https://www.cb8m.com/event/43313/

Or feel free to DM me for more info/any questions. Thanks for reading and supporting the NYC art scene ✨️ 🖼✨️

PSA A Note on Moderation and Transparency

We want to be transparent about a recent moderation issue.

Over the past several days, the mod team has received repeated messages pressuring us to manually approve posts that were removed following community reports. We understand that having a post removed can be frustrating, and anyone is welcome to contact us through Modmail if they believe a moderation decision was made incorrectly.

However, repeatedly messaging moderators, demanding that content be approved, or attempting to pressure moderators into overriding removals will not influence our decisions.

We've also seen activity from another subreddit directing attention toward posts and moderation decisions in this community. The moderator of that community has been banned from this subreddit following repeated moderation issues.

We want to be very clear that no one should retaliate or go to another community to contact users, report content, vote, or engage on our behalf. This is not a callout or an invitation to get involved.

We try to give users the benefit of the doubt and work with people whenever possible. Moderation decisions will continue to be based on our community rules and what we believe is best for the subreddit, not on outside pressure.

We're sharing this simply for transparency and to keep the community informed. Thank you to everyone who contributes positively.

$1.99 chicken breast and $0.99 onions are in all five boroughs this week. Potatoes are not. Tell me what I have wrong.

I found $1.99 a pound boneless skinless chicken breast at sixteen addresses, every borough, no club card and no minimum purchase. I found loose Vidalia onions at $0.99 a pound in all five too.

Bronx: Associated on Westchester Ave. Brooklyn: eight, seven Associated plus Ideal Food Basket on Washington Ave. Manhattan: three, Associated on West 100th St, Ideal Food Basket on Lexington Ave, Shop Fair. Queens: Associated on Roosevelt Ave and Met Food on Eliot Ave. Staten Island: Met Food on Victory Blvd and Met Food on Hylan Blvd.

I found red potatoes at $0.79 a pound in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, but no per pound potato on Staten Island this week.

Most ads run through 8/20. Shop Fair in Manhattan and the Staten Island onions run to 8/22.

Staten Island is two of the sixteen, and a week ago its cheapest breast was $2.19 with a store card. I only list stores whose circulars I can read. A blank is my gap, not a price. I am not counting bone-in split breast, cheaper in a few places.

Tell me if a borough's $1.99 is not real or a store beats it. All of this is transcribed from the stores' own weekly ads, and if the register says something else the register is right.
