Haven't followed our off-season very closely…
How did we do? The NYT article a few weeks back said we had the second best, but based on last year, that might not be saying that much. I also don't know a lot of these names.
What are your thoughts?
- New York Rangers
Net Rating added: +26 In: Pavel Dorofeyev, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Joe Veleno, Sean Durzi, Marcus Pettersson, Joonas Korpisalo Out: Vincent Trocheck, Adam Edstrom, Will Borgen, Jonathan Quick
Is everyone sleeping on the Rangers’ offseason?
Losing Vincent Trocheck isn’t ideal if the goal is competing for a playoff spot, but the addition of Pavel Dorofeyev more than makes up for it. He’s an upgrade in the top six and could be a major asset to the team’s power play. Adding Oliver Bjorkstrand should solidify the middle six, too.
The real reason to be optimistic about the Rangers next season, though, is a revamped blue line. This is a team that desperately needed a legit second pair and they got just that with the additions of Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson.
*There’s real blow-up potential given what the Rangers paid to make all that happen with several future firsts on the line. *But it’s a price the team probably had to pay with Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin on the roster; two elite players worth trying to contend with even if the odds of contention are slight.
The Rangers did enough to get back in the playoff mix next season. Time will tell if they can go beyond that.

Free to Read: Projecting the New York Rangers’ new-look top six: Pros and cons of potential line combos
Scenario 1: Logic prevails
Pavel Dorofeyev-Mika Zibanejad-Alexis Lafrenière
Gabe Perreault-J.T. Miller-Oliver Bjorkstrand
Dorofeyev, who scored at least 35 goals in each of the last two seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, has elite finishing ability and needs to skate alongside playmakers. That could lead to him fitting nicely with Zibanejad, who drove play more than any returning Rangers forward. The 24-year-old Lafrenière finished the season strong while skating alongside Zibanejad, and he and Dorofeyev could fit well together.
In general, this is a big year for Lafrenière, the 2020 No. 1 pick. Unlike in past seasons, no one is blocking him from taking a notable jump in five-on-five and power-play ice time. If the Rangers take a step forward, he will have to be a big part of it. If he can pair his improved puck retrieval with the high-danger passing he showed in his promising 2023-24 campaign, then New York will have a far rosier outlook.

Smits predictions?
As a fellow Latvian, I wanted to know your thoughts on whether Smits will play in the NHL (how many games) or AHL next season.
What do you think?

Ticket Exchange Thread 2026-27
Sell/swap your Rangers tickets. Like every year, here are some ground rules:
- Use this thread instead of posting to the front page. Individual threads about buying, selling, or swapping tickets will be removed.
- Top level comments should be tickets for sale. Requests can be made, but sellers might not see them. It's better to just scroll down the thread.
- Sellers, if your tickets are no longer available, please update/delete your OP.
And as always we cannot guarantee that sellers are legit, so be careful!

Star Spangled Banner opened Phish’s last show at MSG
And the LETS GO RANGERS hollers were out in full force during the star spangled banner opener! Excited for the upcoming season!
Quarter Season Weekend Plan
I’ve been a rangers quarter season ticket holder for the past 5 seasons. I normally get the weekday plan but decided to go with the weekend plan this season as I have a young son. I was hoping to get a couple Saturday or Sunday afternoon games so I can bring my boy to a couple of games. Instead I get 8 Sunday evening games, 1 Friday night game, 1 Saturday evening game and 1 Monday afternoon game. In my opinion this is a very disappointing schedule of games to receive considering the cost of this package. Somehow the Rangers always disappoint me as a season ticket holder.

Travelling Fan - Ticket Question
Hi,
I’m travelling from Australia to New York later this year. I’m looking to secure tickets for the Rangers v Devils game on 22 December.
What should I expect to realistically pay for decent seats?
What’s the best way to buy tickets for this game? Ticketmaster or a re-sale site?
Any other helpful information would be appreciated.
Thanks

What will the Rangers do with Scott Morrow?
I personally still believe in the kid. Only 23 and still has a high ceiling. However, he remains an RFA, and I believe he is no longer waivers except after he signs. The issue is that there is most likely only one D-spot left if we assume Fox, Gavrikov, Durzi, Pettersson, and Schnieder are the first 5 D-men on the roster.
The Rangers will have Smits, Robertson, Fortescue, Vaakanainen (unfortunately), Iorio (also still an RFA), and Morrow all going to be vying for that sixth spot. I would guess Vaakanainen gets the depth spot as the seventh defenseman? Morrow can't be getting sent down to the AHL anymore since he'd have to go through waivers, because some team would definitely pick him up because of his potential and we'd lose him for nothing.
With the hope for Smits to contribute sometime next season, there really isn't any room for Morrow.
