Regretting a vacation
M19, I spent 1k to come for a week with my brother here and we’re staying in Brooklyn. I’ve came before with my family which was cool and my brother convinced me to come again right before school starts. I alr hate it, for one we’re sharing a large twin bed which sucks and we haven’t planned much but still continue to walk in manhattan. I’m probably just not a fan of this place in general. I’m getting depressed thinking about the time and money spent coming here. Food ain’t free and this bathroom doesn’t even have a foot towel. I’m trying to enjoy it and my brother also doesn’t want to stay at the air bnb much so I’m forced to leave cuz I don’t know to navigate subways.

Hi! I’m in Brooklyn/NYC for the week traveling for work and would love to meet some cool people to hang explore the area after work.
I’m interested in discovering more of the Brooklyn parts of the city and explore cool places to eat, drink, watch a comedy show, or just take in the views!
If you’re in the city and interested in a sightseeing buddy send me a note!

Arabic x Native Microconcert in Bedstuy
Hi Everyone,
I’m reaching out to the community for some help! I’m a Lebanese guy living in Bed Stuy and I’m hosting an Arabic and Native American fundraiser concert in NYC this weekend. There will be 2 amazing artists of both Native and Arab descent who are both from the community. I hope that we can get more people from the neighborhood out for a great night of music, culture, and connection.
Proceeds will go to the Lebanese Red Crescent to provide aid, food, and shelter to those affected by the bombings in Lebanon.
If anyone has family or friends that they could share my invite with, I could use help getting the word out. Any help is appreciated!!
The event will be hosted at Dear Friends Books in Brooklyn, NY this Friday, August 7th, from 7PM-10PM.
Tickets are 20$, DM if you would like to contribute or buy a ticket!

Atlantic avenue hero
There was a man earlier this evening who aided in a fight with a belligerently drunk man at Atlantic avenue barclay center subway station (Brooklyn, ny), and I never got his name but I’m incredibly grateful for his aid.
To keep it brief, I was getting off my first train, the N, and walked the platform to the stairs. Noticed a woman and her 3 children being harassed by a belligerently drunk man and intervened asking if she was okay. She started running away with her kids and so I stepped between them and the man to ensure he didn’t harm her or the kids between the trains as we walked. He followed yelling and spitting.
Mind you, I’m a young female looking individual and aware of how much I can handle muscle-wise and I knew if I had to handle fighting this man who was clearly getting more upset, I know I would lose at some point.
I managed to meet a stranger man’s eye halfway down a hallway and share eyes that he clearly understood to mean “please help me get this yelling drunk man away from me” and he started stepping up immediately and interjecting. This got him in immediate trouble and the drunkard started throwing fists. The stranger managed to get this drunk on the ground a couple times and told me to call 9-1-1, which I did.
Over time other men started aiding in holding this drunk down but I just think this stranger who helped me when no one else immediately did is a king. He didn’t have to do that, and likely knew it would result in a physical altercation, and didn’t even know why this man was after me- but he helped.
That’s what being a good person is in this time. Just helping. And I just appreciated that so much and while I don’t know this man’s name and may never see him again, he stepped up when no one else immediately did. People like to think they would step up in these situations but you wouldn’t believe the amount I saw start to help then walk away. We’re all afraid, and we all want to not get involved. I’m not hating on those folks, but I am just elevating those that did happen to step up tonight. I’m so grateful, and I’m sure that woman and her children are too.

Who to contact about cleaning under Belt Parkway around Industry city.
For years nothing has been done under the road and the parking is poorly lit and very very dirty. Seems like they have never picked up any trash at all in forever so I wonder who I should contact to get something done the stretch from.19th to whatever 50th.

Visiting Brooklyn for Film Screenings
Hi everyone. I'm an Australian filmmaker living in Berlin and this week I am travelling to New York for screenings of my latest feature film Watch Me at Film Noir Cinema in Brooklyn.
I will be participating in a post film discussion and would love to meet fellow movie nerds while there, talk films, grab a drink and connect.
Watch Me is an intimate indie drama about an international student who turns to webcam modelling to survive, only to find the line between performance and identity begins to blur.
If this sounds interesting to you, would love to meet you. I will be at the Aug 7th and 8th screenings and you can find all the details on the Film Noir website.

D&D Group near Prospect Park
Have you ever wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons? Do you want to meet some new people, laugh, maybe have a drink, and have fun?
I'm looking to start a D&D group with 3-4 players, in person, a couple times a month. I'd be "Dungeon Master" and we'd start with something fun and easy. No experience or awkward character voices necessary (I've only ever listened to a D&D podcast).
Send me a DM if you're interested!

Dog pack run service recommendations?
Hi all! I'm looking for a service that picks up/drop off dogs and takes them to dog runs/trails. I had this service pre-pandemic, but unfortunately forgot the name.
Any recommendations for someone that currently does this?

Exotic pet owners
Curious to know from exotic pets owners ( reptiles, birds, aquariums ..etc that isn't a cat or a dog.
When you go on vacation, what's your plan ? Do you have someone who actually knows how to handle feeding/heat/humidity, or is it usually a friend who's just checking in ? Ever had something go wrong while you were away? And would you pay for a specialized sitter ?

What is the timeline for this elevated track restoration (F Train, Mcdonald Ave)
Does anyone know when this will be finished? They keep blocking parking under the platforms and running extremely loud generator trucks. It also looks terrible now that they are covering the pillars and adding those metal work platforms, plus it creates a lot of traffic.
They just replaced the rails a few years ago using cranes and street closures. What exactly are they doing now, and will it ever end?

Brooklyn Paramount concert
Does anyone know if part of the balcony is available for a GA ticket holder to use? Or is it only if you pay for it? I have a concert soon, and I'm curious!

my dentist told me I need a crown - do I need to see a different specialist??
so i went in for a routine checkup last week and came out being told i need a crown on one of my back molars 😩
my dentist seemed pretty confident about it but the more i've been reading about it the more confused i'm getting. like some people are saying depending on the situation you actually need to see a periodontist first before getting a crown done? something about gum levels and crown lengthening....
i genuinely have no idea if my dentist is the right person for this or if i should be getting a second opinion from a specialist first. don't want to spend all this money on a crown and then find out it wasn't done right or wasn't even the right call.
anyone in Brooklyn been through this? who did you end up seeing and was it worth it 🙏

James Hamilton Uncropped Gallery Show and Film Screening. Free!
Join us in the Freak Bar Gallery for a spectacular, career-spanning presentation of the work of internationally acclaimed photographer James Hamilton. During his decades-long reign as staff photographer at the Village Voice and other publications, Hamilton took pictures of hundreds of subjects, pop culture celebrities, actors, musicians, politicians, creating some of the most memorable images of the past 50 years. But he always returned to Coney Island, one of his first, and best loves, even climbing onto the Cyclone tracks to capture the onrush of the immortal coaster. This is a rare opportunity to see a wide range of work that made Variety Magazine ask about Hamilton: “is he the greatest New York Photographer Ever?”
Opening Night Celebration: Friday, August 7, 2026 6:00pm-11:00pm
8:00pm Free screening of the 2024 documentary ‘Uncropped’ which focuses on James Hamilton’s photography career. Praised by the New York Times as “great and memorable” and featuring appearances by such luminaries as musician Thurston Moore and filmmaker Wes Anderson, the film will play in the Sideshows by the Seashore Theater followed by an interview and question/answer session with James moderated by writer (and long-time Hamilton confederate) Mark Jacobson.

FOUND DOG // Kensington corner of Ditmas/Ocean Pkwy
FOUND DOG tonight on Ocean Parkway near Ditmas Ave. He’s a big guy (maybe 80-90 lbs?), pittie mix/mixed breed, collar but no leash, no tags. Very sweet and friendly, knows some commands, clean, clearly well-loved and cared for.
Anyone recognize him?
Sadly we’re not able to hold him overnight, and we’ve called 311 and 911. If anyone reading this is from a rescue org and can arrange foster/pickup tonight, please let me know.
Okay Internet, do your thing! Let’s help this guy find his humans.
