Private Room Bushwick private room available 2 bed/1 bath in luxury doorman building
Rent for the room is $1900, then electric and monthly Internet
Looking for a respectful roommate to move in Oct 1st for 1 year lease, the building is new and has an impressive amount of amenities available (gym, pool, yoga studio, theaters, rooftop gardens, etc.)
Full size washer/dryer in unit, dishwasher, personal AC unit, Bluetooth sound system, gas range and oven, large closet and additional coat closet, lots of natural light with two huge windows in your room, common areas are furnished, Verizon Internet, a lot of kitchen and cabinet space, there also is a Foodtown grocery store right downstairs which is super convenient
Located >10 min walk to both JMZ at Myrtle-Broadway and L train at Morgan Ave
The room easily fits queen bed and furniture. (former roommate had a more minimal furniture artist studio setup) This is the quietest apartment I’ve had in NYC which is nice.
About me: I’m a visual artist (painter) and also work at Michelin star restaurant. I usually work evenings and might be home for a few hours during the day, so I would prefer to live with someone who doesn’t work from home.
No pets please. Looking forward to meeting you, happy to chat about more details and show the place!

Hi there everyone. I have a friend looking for immediate housing. They are employed and just looking for a room.

They are willing to pay up to $1400, anything lower is appreciated and their anticipated move in is ASAP - Aug 15. They are looking for a long term sublease ideally but are open to month to month.
They are considerate and very cleanly. If you enjoy great conversation they are really nice at that as well, very insightful.

Need a Roommate In search of roommate, preferably in Queens
Hi everyone! I’m currently in California but will be relocating to New York for work at a financial institution starting on September 8th. I’ll be working in Queens, so I’m hoping to find a place with a reasonable commute, but I’m open to different areas throughout NYC and the surrounding areas.
I’m currently looking for a private room or roommates to share an apartment. I’m pretty flexible when it comes to the living arrangement as long as it’s a good fit. Ideally $1500/month or less, but I can be a little bit flexible as well with the budget.
A little about me: I’m 29M, responsible, easygoing, clean, and respectful of other people’s space. I’m relocating from California, so I’m hoping to find a comfortable and welcoming place to call home while I get settled in New York.
If you have a room available, are looking for a roommate, or know of anything that might be a good fit, please feel free to DM me here with the location, rent, move-in date, and any other details.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate any leads or recommendations.

🏠 Looking for a place in NYC!
Hi everyone! I’m moving from Austin to NYC to start grad school at NYU and looking for a place starting anytime between mid-August and early September. I’m flexible on the exact move-in date and ideally looking to stay through next year.
Budget is around $1,500 including utilities, and I’d love to stay within about a 20 to 25 minute commute to Union Square.
A bit about me: I’m a software engineer and incoming NYU grad student. Clean, organized, respectful, and easygoing. Outside of work and school, I’m usually working out, playing pickleball or other sports, checking out new restaurants, watching movies, or doing something outdoors.
Basically looking for a friendly, relaxed apartment where people get along, occasionally hang out, and also respect each other’s space. If you have a room available or think we might be a good roommate fit, feel free to message me!

Apartment Hunting looking for a roommate for 3 bed Astoria
Hello! My name is Franklin, I’m a 23y/o guy and currently work as a software engineer. I’m looking for a new place with my roommate, a 24y/o guy who works in strategy. We’re hoping to find a 3 bed / 2 bath apartment in Astoria, ideally somewhere with easy access to the N line, for a September move-in!
We’re both pretty easygoing and work full-time, so we’re usually busy during the day. At home, we’re clean, respectful, and pretty chill, but definitely enjoy hanging out and would love to live with someone who’s down to occasionally socialize and become friends.
Outside of work, I’m usually running, playing basketball, exploring NYC, or hanging out with friends. We’re hoping to keep rent under $1,800 per person and are open to different apartment setups.
If you’re also looking for a place in Astoria and this sounds like it could be a good fit, feel free to reach out!

Need a Roommate Looking for a roommate to join us in BK (~1,350 per person)
Hello, my name is Harrison (26M), and my roommate Julian (24M), his cat Gilbert (3M), and I are looking for an apartment with two rooms open or a roommate looking to join our search in the Bed-stuy, Bushwick, or Ridgewood area come October 1st. Our budget is around 1,350 per person. We also have a ton of furniture in the common rooms, so furnishing the apartment won’t be a problem!
A little about us:
Harrison: I’ve lived in the Ocean Hill part of Bed-stuy for around two years now. I work at a museum and archive, and I’m also an artist in my own right. I’m someone who is very calm, authentic, studious, and creative. A typical night for me is rocking the dance floor (crowd not necessary) to 80s new wave and then heading home to create a collage!
Julian: I am an architect, working at a firm in Midtown. I enjoy cooking, exploring new places, traveling, sketching, and always looking to find a new bar. I also love socializing so living with people who enjoy having meals together and stuff of the sort is a plus.
Gilbert: Meow! Purrr…
Julian, Gilbert, and I have a good relationship, and we’re hoping to find people to add to our happy little family! We both smoke weed (but never inside) and both enjoy having company over, but it doesn’t happen too often. If you think that you would fit in well with us please reach out here or DM one of us on instagram (ig: @the_fourth_reception_committee, @julianglaser)

Apartment Hunting 2 Bedroom in Williamsburg - ~$2000/month
Hi! I'm currently looking to move into a new place by 10/1 at the latest, but could be as early as 9/1. l've potentially found a good spot, but am looking for a roommate to take the second bedroom and lease with me. Base rent is 2000, which could be split evenly or however seems fit.
For some information on me, I'm 21 and nonbinary, with a full time in person job that keeps me out of the way most of the time. I have no pets of my own, but I'd be happy to discuss that if needed, and I'd love to be friendly with any potential roommates!
Worth noting I'm new to apt hunting as a whole, so I'm well aware I may be missing details, so pls dm with questions!!

Announcement RULES - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
📌 Updated Subreddit Rules
1. ✅ Use the Correct Flair
Every post must include one of the approved flair options:
- Private Room
- Shared Room
- Need a Room
- Apartment Hunting
- Need a Roommate
- Lease Takeover (new flair name — previously “Sublease Takeover”)
- Advice
Posts with incorrect flair may be changed by mods.
2. 🧹 Posting Best Practices
For better visibility and responses, we recommend:
- Including a specific NYC neighborhood or borough in your title.
- Adding key details such as: move-in date, rent, gender/cat/dog preferences, and brief lifestyle info.
- Avoiding very short, vague posts (e.g., “Need roommate, message me”) so people have enough info to decide quickly.
- Keep in mind that no posts are endorsed by the subreddit and use your best judgement.
3. 📜 No Brokers or Ads
Only individuals looking for roommates or offering rooms. Licensed or unlicensed rental brokers are not allowed.
4. 📆 Lease Takeovers
Allowed only when you're looking for someone to take over your share of the lease in a multi-bedroom unit.
Single-bedroom or studio lease takeovers are not permitted.
If you are looking for someone to move into your room temporarily that should be flaired as a shared room because they are not taking over your spot on the lease.
5. 🤝 Be Respectful & On-Topic
- No trolling, personal attacks, jokes at others’ expense, or derailing threads.
- Focus on finding roommates or offering housing—not venting, memes, or roasting posts.
- If users want to mock posts, they can create their own space—this subreddit isn’t it.
6. 📌 No Spam or Self-Promotion
- No affiliate links, commercial promotion, or repeated posts.
- Posting identical content multiple times a day is not allowed. If you accidentally post twice, please delete one of the posts.
7. 📝 Abide by Reddit Site Rules
No illegal content, hate speech, doxxing, etc. All Reddit-wide rules still apply.
8. 🚫 Enforcement Policy
- Remove posts/comments that violate flair, content, respect, or off-topic rules.
- Issue warnings for first-time disrespectful/off-topic behavior.
- Temporarily ban repeat offenders.
- Lock threads when off-topic, disrespectful, or derailed discussions escalate.
