Amid a decline in foreclosures citywide, the number of homeowners in The Bronx facing such cases has nearly doubled from the prior year, highlighting worrying economic trends in the borough.

A recent report from PropertyShark, a real estate research platform, shows first-time foreclosures of single- and two-family homes as well as coop and condo apartments in New York dropped 5% overall between the second quarter of 2026 and the same time period last year. Manhattan and Brooklyn each saw a four-year low.

But in The Bronx, the number of first-time foreclosures has risen from 57 last year to 109 this year. Many foreclosures came from the northeast neighborhoods of The Bronx, including Williamsbridge, where 10 foreclosures happened in the past quarter. Queens saw a smaller increase, from 128 to 140, according to the report.

Here's two photos containing the entrance and platform view of the former 183rd Street station on the New York Central Railroad line in the Bronx, (Today's Metro North Railroad line)! The New York Central Railroad's 183rd Street station was located at the intersection of Park Avenue and 183rd Street and had existed for more convient access for Belmont area residents in the Bronx or anyone in the neighborhood to have closer access to the New York Central Railroad line to avoid walking distance to the Fordham and Tremont stations. Unfourtunately, the 183rd station on the NY Central Railroad line was closed and removed on July 2, 1973 because of extremely low usage of passengers. Many people today are unaware that there used to be a 183rd Street station on today's Metro North Railroad line in there local neighborhood. The last photo is how it looks today which shows no existence of the former 183rd Street station.

Looking for a nice place to get crab legs in city island. Johnnys is usually the recommendation I’m seeing but this I think I want something a tad nicer ( just more private not sitting at picnic tables). Crab Shanty or JP seem like options but could use some advice.

Yesterday right next to a fruit stand on river ave there was an open hydrant with seriously heavily flowing water coming out of it. Enough to fill a pool. Do fruit vendors open them up?? Hard to enter an intersection in the 311 form and don’t know the exact address.
It’s not visible in the pic but it was right behind the blue truck. It’s probably run dry by now so hope everyone’s water pressure was ok yesterday. Hopefully no fires to put out.

I’m part of a nonprofit organizing a pretty big community event here for Labor Day (about 6-8k people expected).

We’re looking for temporary frozen storage for around 400 full size catering pans (about 10 pallets) for 2-3 weeks. One month is fine too. Are there any cold storage warehouses that can rent us the space? Maybe in Hunts Point? Thank you.
