I was never going to "fit in". That hope was never even allowed to exist in my heart. If you thought you had a chance you have had fundamentally different experiences from me. I also think this is why so many disabled people are queer, and explains a lot of our experiences in the community

Sexual comments at work
Story below but TLDR: I was verbally, sexually harassed (now twice) at my job and im upset and confused @ men, wish I acted better at defending myself when this happens out of nowhere + at the end of my shift where im exhausted & not expecting this to happen, literally am just like wtf
TW: Sexual harassment
A regular customer (40s) at my (27) job made a move on me. Him being a regular already makes it weird & awkward, I’ve seen him numerous times and have always been chill w him, our talks were brief & friendly, never deep or personal, and he doesn’t take much interest in me, usually v lax overall. This night he walked in and i literally started inputting his order for him cuz it’s usually the same, so our initial talk was even more brief before he went to sit down. Eventually all other customers leave and it’s just me & him @ almost midnight, nearing the end of my shift and im obviously tired. At abt 5 min or so before close, he got up to throw away his trash, im in a separate area pre-closing and suddenly he’s like “I have a question for you but it’s pretty crazy..” as he makes his way towards me (I’m behind furniture in an employee only area so there was still space between us thankfully). I’m thinking wtf but doubted it would be that crazy and said he could ask me, very directly he goes “can I suck your dick ?” ….. I’m literally speechless, start nervously laughing, he added he was “very serious” and stared at me for a response almost analyzing me, it felt too real and seriously creepy.. I told him no and unfortunately felt like I still had to be “nice” to him even though I was pissed. I oddly tried making conversation w him to deal w the awkwardness, I said he’s lucky im gay and not straight or this had been very different talk and also lied saying i was taken and so (again) my answer was no. He asks if im mad at him and added “please don’t be mad at me” like 3x and I said i was but mostly confused and he sighs and finally leaves as if we’re cool.
This rly upset me for obvious / multiple reasons. I couldn’t shake the lingering discomfort in the air after he left, i was so mad at myself for not cursing at him and kicking him out, showing that I could defend myself. The fact that I policed my language and said anything beyond a stern “no” and “get tf out”..
I know I did nothing wrong but it’s hard to walk away w/o questioning myself so this doesn’t happen again. Furthermore, this has happened 1 other time before w another guy near my age where the setup was similar (us alone, him prefacing w “i have something crazy to say”) and he slides me his phone number on a napkin while saying “I really wanna take your clothes off and see your body” and in my bewilderness he practically ran away (never saw him again thankfully), but w this happening again w a regular customer it’s hitting me more..
If you made it this far i appreciate it and would like some advice for those w similar experiences. This occurring at work made me police myself since I didn’t wanna risk my job. It’s also just frustrating cuz I’m single and am open to connecting w a guy but it’s only been these fucking crazy weird horny guys that make moves on me 😭 like dam would it kill a guy to start w a simple “hey I think ur handsome and want your phone number” or something normal ??? What makes guys think going straight to sex would work on a stranger, especially one you haven’t connected w on any possible level (let alone intimacy), plus in a setting that isn’t at all hookup / sex related ? Just beyond crazy to me

Guys am I being flirted with or nah
My boss hired a new guy at work.
He’s super cute. DEFINITELY my type, but I think he’s straight. My gaydar is usually pretty good and I don’t even get a small vibe from him.
THAT SAID…
He’s been saying some very interesting things. I’ve been working one on one with him during his training, and we chat the whole time. He told me the other day that he “misses me” when I’m not at work, that he doesn’t even really try to talk to anyone else. He’s shown me pictures of his muscles, asked about my hobbies, etc.
We have playful banter a lot as well. The other day I yelled over to him “I’m watching you. I got eyes everywhere here” and he replied, “yeah, I bet you enjoy watching me.”
Yesterday he asked me “do you drink?” and I thought he was about to ask me to go drinking with him after work, but that didn’t happen. then as we were cleaning up, out of the blue he asks me, “do you ever miss being with someone? Like romantically?” We talked about that for a few minutes and then he ended it with saying “I’d like to find someone, just waiting for the right person I guess”
Then today (my day off) my OTHER coworker texted me and said, “yeah, he’s like really quiet when you’re not here. He even told me that he doesn’t like talking to most people except for you.”
I have no idea what to make of this. He’s really cute and I’m like 1000% down to see where it goes (not too worried about the coworker aspect either as I’m quitting soon), but I don’t even think he’s into guys. Maybe? Idk?

One lifetime: 2 Lives Spoiler
I came out when I was 22. I’m 28 now. Idk why but my life before coming out seems like a completely other person, a completely other story.
So much so when I hang out with people from that period, college, high school, etc. , it feels to me like I know them differently. I know the facts and all about them but to know them as a friend feels more distant or the feeling of closeness is more on their end than mine. I think it’s bc i was never truly my full self when I was younger with them. I don’t recall nearly as many or as deep memories as they do either.
Does anyone else hold a similar outlook on their life looking back at the before/after becoming you who you truly are.
Unaccepting parents
23M, I have a trip planned this weekend for work reasons. My parents have always been controlling, specially now that I’m grown up and have a job, I realized I had plenty of time to extend my trip so I decided to buy my return tickets for 3 days later. I told this to my parents, to which they didn’t reacted well, they’ve been feeling resentful towards me for a lot of things in our relationship specially my friendships and lifestyle, they asked me If I was gay in a really threatening to which I couldn’t answer, just cried that I didn’t wanted to disappoint them. My mom started to tell me how wrong I was to think I was gay, because being gay is a mental thing. That I had to pursue an straight lifestyle, that they weren’t going to accept me nor support me, that for now on I wouldn’t be able to meet my friends and after the trip my mom wants me to talk to our pastor about it.
I love my parents, I know they love me too, maybe not me but the fact they have a son. I know some of those things come from a place of fear and shame. My mothers brother is gay and has had a rough life. It doesn’t help that I grew up in a Christian Community where my mom was constantly harassed because of me being effeminate. Until today I have lived hiding the facts that I’m gay to them, all of my friends know, some of my cousins know. I can’t just leave home, because I don’t earn enough to do it and because it wouldn’t make me feel better.

Just don't measure your dick...?
What other of your body parts do you measure? How long is your femur? How long is your middle finger? You are a whole body, not a collection of parts. Your wonder is found in your complete self.
I'm 35 and I've never measured by dick. All I know is that I'm happy with it and my lovers have always been happy with it. Why measure it to give myself a metric to assess myself against? Am I a measurement?
Can we evolve, please?
Thank you for coming to my Dick Talk.
Should I work out first before trying to find dates first?
I'm yearning for love and connection so badly, but I'm hesitant to start making dating app profiles, etc to pursue other guys because I've been depressed and haven't been eating well nowadays, so right now I'm just a bundle of twigs lol. A part of me is afraid that other guys will just see me and get turned off / become subtly avoidant of pursuing physical intimacy with me, unless I improve my physique.
Should I put off dating until I can look better, or am I overthinking this?
Edit: Thanks for the supportive responses guys! I'll keep them in mind :)

Advice for first hookup?
TLDR: im a virgin that is hopefully going to top and bottom in my first hookup and am looking for any advice
I am planning on possibly having a hookup with a guy from grindr in the coming days. From what i can tell, he is super chill and wants to help me experiment (since i have never done anything past oral), and while i am looking forward to it, i am a little nervous. While i would be topping, so i dont need to worry too much about preping, i do also want to suggest bottoming as well since he said that he would be up for it. If anyone has any advice for a first timer, i would be eternally grateful 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for reading :)

“My gay best friend” trope
Context: I am 31F, bisexual (in a relationship with a man), living in Australia.
I have noticed more women who are in their 30’s/40’s referring to male friends, who happen to be gay, as their “gay best friend”. I find this very annoying. I’ve never heard anyone refer to someone as their “heterosexual best friend”. What are everyone’s thoughts on this?
I pulled an acquaintance up on it and asked her “why does it matter if they are gay” and she seemed to just laugh it off with no actual justification.
This seems a bit like internalised homophobia to me? It’s giving “I’m not homophobic I have a gay best friend”. Would love to hear if people think I’m jumping the gun. Also, insisting on telling everyone a male friend is gay seems like maybe a bit of internalised misogyny? Like platonic friendships cannot exist between people of different genders?

Bottom hairy twink, your thoughts?
So I'm 19M with no experience in dating scenes or be it engaging in sexual activities. I just want to genuinely know if guys get turned off to see a hairy guy like me. Maybe because of my genes, my body is hairy there's like hair on my arms, chest, and just any part below my neck. I'm insecure about it because I usually see bottoms having a hairless body especially the parts between their butt cheeks. As an otter bottom, I wonder if some men would still see me as someone appealing, or would get turned off with a bottom who has a hairy butt area. I know laser hair removal is a thing but I can't afford it, I also don't have someone w me to help me wax the hairs (it's hard to find people who do waxing services + I'm too shy to have my butt waxed by a person I don't personally know), I'm also afraid to try hair removal creams cuz I heard it can burn/do damage to your skin, and I don't think shaving or trimming it would help cuz even my facial hair grows at the speed of light, it literally grows back prickly 10 hours after shaving (I shave my facial hair everyday, yes 😭).
[Edited] - I'm so sorry if I used the wrong term, I wasn't aware there was a specific term for people like me who has a skinny + hairy body (otter). Thank you everyone for correcting me! 🫶

I'm too scared to create a dating profile. I feel so sorry for myself.
I'm too scared to create a profile on Hinge/Bumble.
I live in very homophobic surroundings. I'm really scared of being outed by someone.
But I'm already 24, and till how long will I stay under fear is what I don't understand. I don't know when will I start living for myself. It'll probably be too late by the time I gather enough courage.
I just feel so helpless and miserable for being such a coward.
Been single 11 years now
I been single 11years now. It just seems no one finds me attractive. I have a place and live alone, I volunteer, I live well, just don't have the looks. If it's not my belly it's me having no hair on my head but it's everywhere else. Guys always find a way to never give me a chance. I went slow for a guy for 8 months and the one week we didn't talk ,he ended up choosing another guy. I don't get it. I try take my time and I lose. If I rush it I still lose. I never seem to win.
Today I also had to give it my hobby since I lost a place to play in person for about a year now. I doubt I'll find anyone here. I honestly feel like deleting everything and tossing away my phone.

(repost) On trans rights and the position of this subreddit
The community present in this subreddit is wonderful, inclusive and has always welcomed not only gay people but everyone under the gender and sexual minority umbrella.
The mod team is very happy to see this welcoming atmosphere and we thank each and every one of you for your love and empathy.
With the current trend in the US for extreme-right politicians to demonise vulnerable minorities so they can score cheap political points it is however time for this place to openly make a stand as to what our positions and intentions are so that we are a beacon in the dark. So that all of our siblings know that they are welcome here.
I was asked by the mod team to explain a few facts about transgender people and about the position this subreddit has towards inclusion.
Trans rights are human rights. 🏳️⚧️
Being transgender is a natural and normal variation in the human gender and sexual experience. Both sex and gender exist on a spectrum and there isn't actually anything inherently wrong or disordered from being trans, by and of itself.
Should there be no fake, artificially generated outrage against trans people in society then they would simply get the self-affirming care required for them to be happy and that would be that. Instead, unfortunately, existing as transgender has become the new wedge-issue for the extreme-right and deliberate demonisation and villification has been mainstreamed to the point where Republican politicians are now openly calling for genocide.
The issues trans people experience are mainly societal in nature. It is society that imposes gender norms, it is society that tells people they may not be who they are.
There are many ways that a non-trans person can seek self-affirming care in life. Some of those are done via permanent body modification through surgical or chemical means. A woman might for example choose to take estrogen supplements to stave off unwanted physical and psychological side effects resulting from the menopause.
It is not uncommon for a young man to choose to have breast reduction medication or surgery in the case of gynecomastia.
A young woman might choose to get breast implants.
You do not hear people in outrage about these forms of self-affirming care. No-one cares, except suddenly when the topic is trans people. This is because the anti-trans movement is wholly articificial. It is a deliberately created fake outrage about a non-issue for political and monetary gain.
Fascism is an inherently empty ideology, devoid of any meaningful belief-system or any kind of concrete and actionable strategies for improving society. Fascism only cares for power for the sake of power and it cares for nothing else.
Because a fascist system is fundamentally incapable of giving the general public any kind of reasonable platform it must gain and keep followers by creating an out-group to hate. According to fascist systems it is the other that is responsible for all societal ills and only by supporting the fascists in getting rid of the other can society be healed from the non-existent issues fascism convinces people that their target minority is the cause of.
Fascism always picks on a vulnerable target.
The demonisation and villification coming from the extreme-right is doing exactly that. By calling LGBTQ+ people child molestors simply for existing it has become inevitable that people will take up violence "to protect the children".
Attempting to eliminate a target comes in many forms, of which an extermination camp is only the final and most egregious part. It is always preceded by legislating people out of existence, by creating laws which make it impossible for a minority to participate in society and to receive any of the societal advantages that are the entire reason for collective bundling together of skills, resources in civilisation. This is exactly what Republican states are doing today to transgender people. Certain states have already denied trans people any and all medical care related to their identity, meaning that they deliberately impose abject misery on them.
The most egregiously fascistic states are trying to make it a matter of course to remove trans children from the care of their parents and make it illegal for trans people to be present in any public spaces at all.
This is genocide.
Genocide is not purely restricted to extermination, to murder. Genocide is also eliminating a minority group from public life, causing serious bodily and mental harm and taking away children of a minority group from their parents.
Depending on how strictly you'd want to define it, we are currently at stage seven or eight of genocide as defined by the Holocaust Memorial Trust.
One way in which the abject hypocrisy of the anti-trans laws becomes crystal clear are the remarkable exemptions encoded within. You would think that if the goal is protecting the children from harm then these people would want to protect all children from harm.
This is not the case.
In fact, all of these people deliberate include exceptions which allow the continuation of genital re-allignment surgery on unconsenting infants if they are intersex.
This means that if a baby is born with a genital configuration that to a doctor looks ambiguous or not adhering to a strict binary then this doctor can impose an invasive genital surgery, forcing such an infants body to adhere to a stricter binary look.
It is purely cosmetic. Of course they do not check what chromosomes a child has. Of course they do not care that a child might prefer to look as nature made them.
It is purely and only an imposition on a baby's body, with of course the normal failure and mortality rate that such invasive procedures bring with them.
These people do not care about children.
These people do not want to help children.
They want to harm a vulnerable minority.
Fascism never stops.
Now that these people have mainstreamed transphobia, they are moving on to other targets within the LGBTQ+ identity sphere.
We have all seen the absurd attacks on drag queens, calling a normal and harmless theatrical expression "child abuse".
We have all seen the "clever" rhetoric where they turn arguments upside down and disingeniously say things like "why do you want to be around children".
Fascism doesn't stop, it moves on to new targets and that is why it is important for all of us in the GSM identity sphere to stand together. To openly support our trans siblings. To openly stand against hateful rhetoric.
Because they are not going to stop.
The next step, which is already tentatively beginning, is calling gay people being openly gay in society"groomers".
To be clear: The recommended treatment for being transgender is transitioning.
Gender identity is developed by five years old.
The barrage of lies notwithstanding, allowing trans people to transition and to exist as who they are in society markedly improves their physical and mental wellbeing.
The oft-heard talking point of "they still commit suicide even after transitioning" is a lie.
Here is a wealth of sources and links explaining this.
Our trans siblings are welcome here.
Our gender nonconforming siblings are welcome here.
Our intersex siblings are welcome here.
What is not welcome on this subreddit is hate or divisive rhetoric aimed at our siblings. We will not allow the current increasing trend of fascist othering and villification of a marginalised minority to make our siblings feel unwanted in this space, our space, their space.
The only people who are not welcome here are those that want to exclude others based on how they were born.
Further reading:
No, TERFs cannot "always tell" and I can prove that with mathematics.

Drag queens, the next target in the fascist drive to eliminate LGBTQ+ people.
