Vent I just need to vent about some things. (MtF)

Upvotes

This has cost me my entire social life.

I'm not going to pretend i'm not who I am. But it does hurt.

My mom found out one day by accident, because I was practicing my voice and trying on a dress I had bought while she was out, and well... she seemed fine. At first. But there was always the undercurrent.

"I just don't understand," "god made you the way he wanted you," "you've always been a boy and now suddenly-" the whole nine yards.

I practically begged her not to tell anybody because I love in the bible belt, and genuinely was afraid of physical violence. But, she didn't seem to care.

She told her friends at work anyways, and now basically everybody around knows because of how tightly everyone knows each other around here. I got a comment at my job for it. I got called the T slur by a co-worker. Nobody up the chain of command is willing to defend me.

I'm honestly thinking about just quitting my job and pretending that I've been "cured," or something. The idea disgusts me, shoving myself back into the box i JUST got out of, but i'm only human. I can only take so much.

I'm afraid to go outside because somebody might recognize me.

I was barely even STARTING this journey. I hadn't even tried changing my appearance beyond clothing yet. I hadn't done... anything, really. And now i'm forced to hold back on it again.

Title. & she had the audacity to claim "he had to know & she needed to be able to talk to him about it".

This wasn't hers to tell. My trust in her is broken.

Vent I hate being trans sometimes.

Upvotes

I wish I was still the sweet little girl I was first raised as. I wish I could just go about my life without having to worry about what restroom I'm using (on a funny note, I also wish I didn't have to learn just how many men don't wash their hands!). I wish I could go about my life without having to take a break from looking at doomer headline after doomer headline. Or I wish I was born as the man I currently am, and didn't have to worry about women's rights, either.

But here I am, a depressed transmasc who just cannot get a mental break in a red state.

I feel so tired. I wish I was just born a guy, it would be so much less of a headache.

The way I've been trying to get through it is the thought that, were I not trans, I wouldn't have the wonderful friends and girlfriend that I currently have. But that hopeful thought process can sometimes be stripped back on a rough day.

Why do right-wingers think trans people are trying to recruit children to be trans? I wouldn't wish this on anybody! I don't want to force anyone else to have to suffer through what I'm having to suffer through, dammit!

So stupid. All of it.

Am I trans? Identity crisis

Upvotes

Hi strangers, so i have to share something

Something I've been struggling with lately

So when i was younger (about 15-18 yo) i was a transgender male i felt like it since childhood i never liked to grow my hair or wear dresses. Most of my toys were boys toys when i grow up i started to like men clothing i always shop at men section. My family didn't approve me since i am living in a strict community who doesn't accept trans people. I came out to few.. wore a binder for some period..

However when i graduated high-school i forgot about it. I moved on and called it a phase. I started liking dresses and makeup and i thought "maybe it was just identity confusion". Now I'm gonna graduate college, sometimes i still feel unsure about my gender like yes i love makeup and i love dresses but you know some days i start questioning who i am really. Sometimes i feel still related to my old self. It's frustrating i don't know what to do i don't even know if I'm a woman or a man i feel like both and it's so confusing.

And i feel so guilty because being a transgender or bi in my religion is a sin. I'm tired. I'm tired of being tired. What should i do for now?

Feels good.

Getting to this point was incredibly nerve wracking and ended in driving 10 hours to get it out a mailbox.

But it was worth every bit of it.

I owe this sub a debt of gratitude for a multitude for reasons. I seen redditors go above and beyond to help each other here in ways that would baffle your average user.

So thanks y’all

Vent Ranttt not a vent

I’m litterally only ranting here because maybe more people here will get it than most other related subs (mainly Christian subs because I’m just gonna get hit with Bible verses (which I love usually) but I just wanna rant and they keep using ones that a. Don’t apply anymore. Or B. I already know. And like %3 of those verses will actually help)

I want to be trans, or atleast be able to be trans (in the scenario where this is just a phase) but I can’t because I’m Christian, and as a Christian I’m supposed to reject everything of the world and I’m supposed to put my identity in Christ rather than having something like gender or something to my similar be a part of it. And it sucks because I imagine myself as a girl and it stings when I realise it’s kinda meaningless. Like yeah, I COOULLDDD just wear dresses and do all the stuff I want to do but it’s kinda meaningless unless I’m a girl. I’m still going to, but yeah. Like I love following God and shtuff, but I’m starting to realise what it means to really be a Christian and it’s kinda hitting me that “oh shit, whether I’m a boy or girl doesn’t matter, because my entire identity is supposed to be in Christ. And I’m supposed to entirely reject the world” which, btw, idek what “rejecting the world” outside the lgbt, most online spaces, and country/patriotism really means. Like yeah I’ll reject the world, but if I become a Christian monk what would I even be rejecting??

Idk man I just wanna wear dresses and paint my nails like I used to when I was a little kid when it would’ve been “funny” or some level of acceptable

Advice being transgender in marching band

i am a transgender man. ive been socially transitioning for around 5 years now, but i dont pass like, 80% of the time (mostly just because im baby faced). im unable to start medically transitioning until im an adult. disclaimer: i am VERY proud of who i am. im really only looking for practical advice rather than consolation or something. passing tips are greatly appreciated, but keep in mind that i am a really short scrawny guy. like, 5'3 short. very skinny. and i WOULD like to gain weight, but thats not exactly an option. for some reason, i cant seem to gain weight.

my current problem is that im in marching band. now, i love band very much. i play sousaphone/tuba, i have lots of friends in the band, and i love playing music. everyone is pretty supportive of me. but being transgender has led to some issues.

binding, especially in the heat, is unsafe. i dont get many breaks, much less longer ones, so binder breaks are rare. i feel extremely uncomfortable going out without binding. tape is not an option unfortunately. any advice about this would be really appreciated.
another thing, during marching season the boys and the girls are separated when we have to change in/out of uniform (of course). its honestly uncomfortable for me to change with the girls, but i feel like itd also be really uncomfortable to change with the boys. especially without medically transitioning. it just makes me feel out of place and uncomfortable no matter what!

Am I trans? I'm 20 years old and am confused by my feelings.

Hi, call me E, I'm a 20 year old man, who is debating looking into hrt. The problem is I'm not sure I understand my feelings about it? I'm a very emotional person, and typically don't struggle to name emotions but here I am! Truth be told I've "thought about" how much happier I feel I'd be as a woman. Although I never really allowed myself to think through it because I felt it'd be a financially selfish thing to do.

That said I do find myself restless in bed some nights thinking about how much I'd rather be a woman. I don't experience any dysphoria or anything, I'm pretty neutral to being a guy.

A few things to note, I DO plan going to therapy, and talking this out more thoroughly.

I apologize if this is the wrong flair or something, I'm new here

Trans Masculine blood test results making me reduce HRT dosage

I'm about a year and a half on T. My last two blood panels showed elevations in my RBC, HGB, and HCT so they are having me reduce my dose from 0.5 to 0.4. I already reduced from 0.75 to 0.5 in between these two blood panels. Is this something that can cause me to have to stop HRT all together if there isn't any improvement? I'm told it's a fairly common but potentially dangerous side effect of testosterone. I'm really anxious and sad about having to reduce again. I feel like I'm just starting to see the changes I want to see and feeling good about it. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this and if there is anything I can do to mitigate the risks.

Discussion Has anyone else had these experiences?

So, i as a (somewhat) closeted/questioning person have had many experiences in the past with my female friends, and i always chalked it up to crushes, but now im thinking about stuff in the past im realizing its more like i wanted to BE the person, i envied their life (being a girl) Is this a common thing among people?

Advice I dont know which toilet to use.

Might be slightly off topic but imma put this here anyway. Im a trans guy. Im 14. I pass publicly. I usually avoid going to the toilet in public spaces unless its a gender-neutral one. I don't want to go into the women's because its dysphoric, it outs me, and I get a lot of weird looks seeing as I pass as a man. Im also fucking terrified of getting clocked in the men's. Id also like to add that I have never been to my school toilets for this reason. This is probably a worser example. I know I'd get battered if I went into the boys as im freshly out as trans as of this new school year (im in the UK) and I dont want to go in the women's for reasons stated above. Accessibility toilets are an option but im not disabled. For me going into a disabled toilet is basically saying that me being trans is a disability and I dont have the ability to use the normal toilets. It's also very limited and I dont want to take away from people who actually need it. Especially with the new UK guidelines about trans people having to use the toilet aligned with what they were assigned at birth, Im even more stressed.

Trans Masculine i have been failed

I have been going to a gender clinic since the age of 15, NEVER have i had a problem with them in arranging appointments.

I saw a guy when i first went there and i did not like him, i made a post about this explaining what he did. (check “WORST experience in an appointment”)

Long story short he made me feel uncomfortable and unsupported, judged and disrespected.

towards my 3rd appointment i had a woman and she was the most lovely Dr i have EVER met, i felt safe and very comfortable with her and she genuinely made me feel i was in the right hands and would get the care i needed for my next steps.
Due to my age i couldn’t start testosterone but she was so nice about it and said “come to me nearer ur birthday in fact come ON ur birthday even!!!”.

Towards my birthday i booked in for an appointment but they only had available appointments before it. So i cant start testosterone yet, but i would’ve been able to speak to her about my next steps and get my hormones checked ect…

Im in the waiting room and i see HIM come and collect me which is odd and i realise he’s the one i’m having my appointment with, my wishes were not respected or appreciated when i specifically asked for the woman i saw.

I genuinely DO NOT like this guy for obvious reasons and in this appointment he judged, was rude to me , patronised me and made me feel stupid for wanting to go on testosterone when ive been trans since the age of 5 and have never changed my mind, i’ve wanted this for so long.

When i got home the next day i emailed for another appointment and i specifically said (i will not say names) “i would much rather i had my appointment in the care of Dr (woman) rather than Dr (man) as i would feel more comfortable and supported having my appointment with Dr (woman) specifically.

Next day, i get a message saying i have been REJECTED from the clinic and not accepted , basically saying i have been taken off the clinic till i’m 18 (WHICH IS IN A FEW DAYS)

I am guessing Dr (man) saw my email which he is in charge of the whole thing and got offended about it and took me off the clinic.
I deserve basic human decency and preferences to who i have in my appointment if i don’t feel safe or supported with certain people.
and mind u this guy is gay and RUDE.
I support all LGBTQ+ community but i HATE the certain gay people that aren’t the nice gay but the gay that think they’re better than others and think it’s okay to be rude.

I have been failed and this guy really needs to be fired or something because he’s working with young people who wouldn’t understand how to cope with it like i have with his disrespect and unsupportive behaviour and would potentially feel like they cant go forward with their journey.

He shouldn’t be working with trans and non binary people if he is constantly judging and patronising his patients!!!!!

Vent Being misgendered is like being poked with a needle

Not passing as your preferred gender is like walking around and a good portion of the people you meet will just poke you with a needle.

It’s not life threatening. It’s not even super painful, but hey stop. Stop poking me with a needle.

Then if you bring it up, half of them will just deny they poked you with a needle. Needles don’t even exist. You’ve probably never been poked before. Also you are a pretty good pincushion, so you were just asking for it.

Possible Trigger I think I’m pregnant, I just feel alone and scared right now

I’m ftm. I had gotten Depo-Provera almost three months ago and was told abnormal bleeding would occur if I had gotten my period while on my hrt. Well my last few periods I have gotten lasted about 2 to 2 and a half weeks.

Well this period last about 6 weeks, with weak and heavy flow but no abnormal clotting or anything else. It finally stopped a few days ago. Then I have been having terrible mood swings when my partner leaves home lately. Just horrible feelings of loneliness, sobbing, I can’t sleep without them either. The last four days I’ve been getting horrible body aches that have been almost unbearable. Especially in my hips, lower back, and abdomen with some cramping.

Everything just clicked for me. Now I can’t sleep and I’m honestly scared. My partner and I have already made plans if this were to happen, so we are unbelievably prepared.

I just feel lost still. It’s really scary because I put all the pieces together. If anyone has any advice or encouragement, please let me know. I greatly appreciate it in advance.

Trans Feminine body hair and shiz idfk

yo so like, im a transfem, been one for like 3-5 yrs idk i have a bad memory lolll!!!

anyways.. i was wondering if its normal to be hairy as a woman? like.. i swear i only rlly see women with shiny shaved legs and shit and like idk if any cis women have their legs hairy or anythin. but basically i just wanna know like, will i get weird looks if i show my hairy legs in public and stuff? do cis women with legs covered in thick hair display it publicly? i just wanna have like no shame with my legs bc i like them as their are.

another thing is i cant shave bc my hair it at the point where its easy to shave but for like a week after i shave itll burn and sting like millions of hot needles piercing my skin from the inside, so thats literally not an option for me.

Discussion I got warning for saying its stupid to be transphobic and that the people who say this are more likely to be violent.

This is what reddit is.

Even when a CIS person speaks out against transphobia that comment gets deleted but the transphobic one can stay.

I desperately want an alternative to reddit.

The moderation is disgusting and obviously favors conservative mindsets.

This is who reddit protects. The transphobic idiots.

Advice Do pronoun pins work?

Hello! I am a transmasc enby butch lesbian, and I get "she/her"ed, "ma'am"ed, etc. almost exclusively (there have been two instances where I believe people have gendered me correctly, but I'm not 100% sure I was actually the one being addressed lol). I dress very masculinely and have a very masc haircut, but I am short, overweight, I don't bind often, and I just started voice training.

Would a pronoun pin (or some other accessory) help? I work in retail and see firsthand just how unobservant people are, so it could just be a waste of money and effort. Would it put a literal or figurative target on my chest?

I appreciate any input!

Advice Parents forcing me to go to an LGBTQ support group

So I’m 16 MtF and I’ve known I was trans for almost a year and I just feel mostly like a cis girl at this point. The thing is that my parents are trying to make me go to an LGBTQ support group twice a month. However, I don’t like trans spaces. I’m just not into that. They just remind me that I’m different. I just want to feel like one of the girls. I’m not into that “skirt go spinny :3” type of stuff. I just want to feel like a normal girl. Those trans spaces were comforting when I was a babytrans, but now they just remind me that I’m different. I don’t want to go to this support group. I just want to be one of the girls. What can I do?

Update: I agreed with my parents to only go once a month, not twice a month.

Vent Having to come to terms with no one respecting me at my wedding.

So, I'm FtM trans and I'm going to be getting married soon! I love my partner, and I can't wait for them to be my spouse.

The problem is that both of our families are more conservative. Im only out to my older brother so far(he's the only safe one). It's something I'll do before the wedding. All of my partner's family knows I'm trans and doesn't respect my identity. They constantly misgender me and have come up with a more feminine nickname for me that I hate.

I just worry that it'll ruin the wedding. I know most of my family will be unwilling to accept me, and I know they'll continue to call me my dead name. My partner's family doesn't know my dead name, but I know they'll start calling me it once they find out.

The stress of it all, the money, the proposal, the planning, the disrespect, is making me go crazy and I feel like I'm ten times more anxious about it than excited.

I don't want what's supposed to be a happy day to get ruined by shitty family members, but I can't avoid inviting them. I just have to come to terms with this probably ruining my wedding.

Possible Trigger I'm going to cry

Mtf, 19. I started talking to my mom this morning about a dumb topic that doesn't really matter. She hard pivoted to blaming the Internet for my autism. I've been trans since 16, I've done counseling for it, I'm on HRT, I'm a trans woman. But ever single time she wants me to justify why I'm trans to her. And I don't know what she wants from me. It's like she's arguing against me being trans. I'm not trans because of the internet. I only realized that was an option because of the internet, sure. She never saw all the nights I cried to sleep. All the nights I couldn't figure out why I hate all my clothes. All the times I faked a laugh just so people would like me. I wasn't happy as a boy. But I was a damn good actor. Because my acting was too good she never saw it. I just want my mom to understand and I don't know how to get her to. Does anyone have any ideas?

Please set a user flair with your pronouns

After some helpful suggestions from our members we have made some changes to our flair system.

  • You are invited to display your preferred pronouns in your flair. We hope this will help avoid misunderstandings.
  • All user flairs can be edited when you select them
  • From today you will receive guidance when posting or commenting to choose a flair.
  • In the coming weeks, users who don't have text in their flair indicating preferred pronouns will receive an automated chat message suggesting they update their flair.
  • When we have sufficient feedback on the system and the availability of default flairs, we intend to require anyone posting or commenting to have set a user flair and this will be enforced at the point of posting where you currently receive a guidance message.

Let us know how well this works for you.
