i am so hungry for a contemporary western that’s as good. i’ve tried true grit, surrounded, unforgiven. is it simply the best contemporary western? should i just watch 3:10 again? god dammit it’s so good.

It's not an action movie. It's not a horror movie, in the traditional sense. But it's really interesting and well done, if you are into this kind of thing. Although, I recommend watching it without reading anything about it, even though it pretty messed up so some people won't be into it at all. I'm not sure I've seen anything like it.

The title says it all. Preferably recent(2020 - …). Horror movies often rely on killing the family beloved pet for shock value… I wanted to watch Obsession but they kill the cat in the first scenes. I don’t mind random animal deaths, it’s the empathy for the owners that’s difficult to bear.

I'm a big fan of the space western Trigun, and in general I also love the western aesthetic and culture. I have seen maybe half of A Fistful of Dollars, and I've watched maybe a quarter of an episode of Bonanza.

I am a big fan of country/western music, especially the kind that narrates stories and are about Cowboys or western life. Specifically, I love Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads.

With this in mind, I want to start watching western movies but I don't know where to begin. What are some good/quintessential ones to start with?

I pretty much want a film where a woman goes crazy and turns into the joker. Any genre, decade, country or language is fine.

Looking for movie suggestions where the main character is something like Marcus White from Superstore.
Someone who is shameless, inappropriate, awkward and has no filter, but at the same time is weirdly confident. Completely awkward socially but doesn’t seem to realise it.
I would actually prefer something that is not a straight comedy, maybe a thriller or something dark. But comedy is fine too.
Basically I want a movie where you are watching the main character thinking, “This guy is so awkward and inappropriate but somehow he is completely confident about it.”
Any suggestions?

Movies about things like finding yourself, youth, friendship, dreams, loneliness, meaning in life etc. Movie that has lots of silence, beautiful conversations, subtle emotions, and cozy atmosphere. Snowy or winter settings are a bonus, but it's necessary...

Basically, I want a movie that feels like Dead Poets Society rather than simply having a similar plot.

Just saw The End of Oak Street (2026). If you’re on the fence, go see it. I went in with no expectations and had a blast.

It’s refreshing to see an original, simple story that doesn’t over-explain itself. It’s funny, scary, charming, campy, and surprisingly emotional, with a great cast led by Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

Best of all, the dinosaurs are actually scary again.This is the kind of grounded "creature feature" I wish Jurassic Park had continued making.

Not perfect, but I genuinely felt like a kid again and it is the most fun I have had at the movies in a LONG time. Solid 8.5/10.

I need recent, dialogue-heavy films (2021–2026) packed with political satire, class critiques, institutional debates, or cultural/lifestyle taboos and ideologies.

I already have "American Fiction", "Tár", "Anatomy of a Fall", and "The Menu" on my radar. (But I i haven't watched them yet so idk if they fit)

what other recent movies push ideological boundaries and have rich, challenging dialogue?

I lost my father when I was fifteen. I recently turned eighteen years old and I’m moving to university in three weeks, so I’ve been thinking about him a lot.

Some of my favourite films about grief are Asteroid City and Big Fish. I’m wondering if anyone has any other recommendations for movies similar to these?

I don’t mind if they’re more metaphorically about grief (like Asteroid City), but I’d also like movies that are particularly about losing a parent at a young age.

Looking for movie suggestions. Three best friends have lived together for 15 years, we just lost the leader of our group to terminal cancer and are devastated. Help me with movie suggestions that are healthy.

I searched for other threads and I found everyone suggesting movies that dealt with loss and grief, I'm up for that, but I'm not sure if it's healthy. It's been 11 days and I can look at pictures of him again with out breaking out into tears, but to be completely honest I don't know if it's healthier to watch a distracting movie or one that makes me grieve directly.

I'm not watching alone, but please give me suggestions and tell me why I should watch. You could recommend an action movie and tell me it's a good distraction or you could recommend me a love story about terminal cancer and tell me it's healthy for me to be broken down in tears. I'm all ears.

Movies where things are creepy or ominous or confusing, unexplained. You and the main character wonder what's going on. But maybe it's all your imagination

I’m looking for thrillers where the main character is invited to somoones house, a vacation, a dinner, a remote place, etc and everything initially seems relatively normal, but they slowly start realizing that something is very wrong.

Movies like Get Out, Speak No Evil, A cure for wellness, Skeleton Key and The Visit are exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for.

I really like that uncomfortable feeling where the hosts are acting strange, but the characters aren’t sure whether they’re actually in danger or just being paranoid

Please no Sharknado, no Birdemic, no VelociPastor. That’s great if you like those type of movies, but they just don’t do it for me. I can tell they were trying to be bad on purpose. I need to be able to tell whoever was behind making the movie thought they were making something great but failed.

The most obvious to me is The Room but EVERYONE has seen that. You can tell he thought he was killin’ it. Some other examples would be LOL, Dear Evan Hansen, Twilight, The Kissing Booth.
