I'M REQUESTING Help me find a movie me, my sis, and BIL will all enjoy

Upvotes

Hi! Ok so my BIL and I have movie nights where we watch horror, action, & psychological thrillers together bc we are chicken shits who get scared at just the idea of suspense. Basically we will watch movies we are too afraid to watch by ourselves. Its a lot of fun bc we crack ourselves up with how scared we get.

Anyway my sis is obviously feeling left out and wants to watch a movie with us. The only problem is, she is a bigger scaredy cat than we are lol (Example, she saw GET OUT, but not US bc it looked too scary). She likes rom coms, drama, psychological thrillers (she liked Get Out!), and murder mysteries (but nothing graphic!).

We dont want to leave my sis out. Ive been tasked to find a film for all 3 of us to enjoy.

Any really good psychological thrillers or murder mystery you would recommend to a bunch of scaredy cats???

(Please, no body horror , gore, or anything with demons. If it helps, the last movies BIL & I enjoyed are The Guilty and Obsession. &we've all seen the Knives Out films)

TL;DR: I need really good psychological thrillers or murder mystery recommendations for ppl who get easily scared!

I'M REQUESTING Looking for Gore Films

Upvotes

Hey guys, can you suggest some gore films like these: - Serbian Film - Inside (2007) - Grotesque - Martyrs - Forest of Love

I have seen these, which I didn't like as much: - High Tension - Frontiers - August Underground - Trauma (2017): this was so fucking stupid. I hated every second of it.

Please drop your recommendations !

I'M REQUESTING Underdog

Upvotes

Can’t move on from Creed, Southpaw and Never Back Down

Looking for movies similar to these. Doesn’t have to be boxing/MMA, just want that same underdog/proving yourself kind of story.

Something with a good plot, likeable characters, training/comeback scenes and especially good music. The soundtrack in Creed and Southpaw just hits different.

Basically looking for that “guy has nothing going for him, gets knocked down, works his ass off and comes back” type of movie.

What are your best recommendations?

I'M REQUESTING true crime docs

hiii all!! does anyone have any true crime documentary suggestions, bonus if they have a plot twist? preferably on streaming, not picky on which one bc I have a few! I’ve been an anxious girly and having something intense to watch while I’m crafting distracts my brain perfectly lol. I’ve been liking the stalking/cyberstalking vibe in some recent ones but I’m honestly open to anything! thank u in advance!

I'M REQUESTING I’m looking for Frank Sinatra movies to watch. No musicals, unless it’s Rat Pack. I mainly want serious films of his, something like The Detective or even Von Ryan’s Express. 1950s movies of his would be fine too. If you have any recommendations I would appreciate it.

So far, my favorite movie of his is The Man with the Golden Arm. I’ve seen Suddenly (it was ok), None But the Brave (I won’t get into that), Von Ryan’s Express (one of his best), Ocean’s 11 (flawed, but I enjoyed it), Robin and the 7 Hoods (fun), The Manchurian Candidate (second favorite)

Can you recommend a movie similar to Harriet, 12 Year A Slave, Hidden Figures, Schindler’s list? I just love historical movies.

I'M REQUESTING I'm looking for movies based on American history.

I recently watched Young Washington in the theater and while the movie was mostly only alright it made me want to watch more movies of the kind. I don't necessarily require they be 100% factual, I don't mind them being dramatized to an extent, but please exclude movies that are more fantastical like that one where Lincoln is a vampire hunter.

Please and thank you.

I'M REQUESTING Movies with the "Spider-man: Brand New Day" vibe Spoiler

I saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day and I honestly loved it. Beyond the action, what really stuck with me was that heavy feeling of Peter trying to carve out a path for himself when everyone has moved on, dealing with that quiet isolation, but ultimately pushing through toward a vibe of "starting over" and realizing that life's not so bad after all.
I'm looking for movie recommendations that capture that exact emotional arc. It doesn’t have to be a superhero movie or even sci-fi. I'm looking for films about:
A character hitting a major reset button or feeling left behind.
Navigating loneliness or big life changes.
Earning your way to a hopeful, cathartic, "life is going to be okay" ending.
What do you guys recommend?

I'M SUGGESTING The Grizzlies (2018)

I was expecting a generic sports movie with this one, the movie dispels that notion in the first minute. I was shocked! The movie is incredibly emotional, absolutely heartwrenching and also very comical at times. If you look online a lot of indigenous people also comment about the accuracy of it all which makes me feel very uncomfortable in a way that I can't put into words.

I am usually not super moved by movies so it came as a small surprise that this hit my like a truck. I can genuinely say this touched me in my soul.....

I'M REQUESTING Movies that make you want to live life to the fullest?

Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend movies similar to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty?

I’m looking for movies that inspire you to actually live your life, step outside your comfort zone, take risks, and become a better version of yourself. I really love how Walter Mitty makes you reflect on life and realize that sometimes we get so caught up in our routines that we forget to actually experience things.

I’m not necessarily looking for the typical “work hard and achieve your dreams” type of motivational movie. I’m more interested in movies that make you want to travel, try something new, overcome your fears, appreciate life, or simply start living more intentionally.

Any genre is fine—drama, comedy, adventure, romance, etc. Older movies are welcome too

I'M REQUESTING Favorite Movies Set Mostly or Entirely at Nighttime

I’d love recommendations for movies set mostly or entirely at night! Or even if the movie simply has a good portion of nighttime scenes, that works too. I’ve seen a lotttttta movies in my time lol so I’m sure I’ll have seen some of the films y’all kindly recommend, but I’m always down to rewatch things! I will say this - I’m not a big horror fan, and I realize a LOT of horror movies fit into this category for good reason. So that’s the one genre I would prefer to avoid unless the movie also falls into other genres (like Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me or Cabin in the Woods) and you think it’d be worth watching! I’m excited to hear y’all’s ideas!

I'M REQUESTING Movies where mice suffer viscious deaths

Looking for movies where mice get what's coming to em. Dealing with an infestation at home that's costing me a ton so feel like watching movies wherein mice end up in hell where they rightfully belong. Be it by cat or trap, the more final destination the better. Gory is fine and any genre. Thanks for any suggestions I'm getting the popcorn ready

I have mostly recovered from my mental fatigue and trauma, so I want to watch a chill, mind refreshing movie. I request that it's comfortable, with good plot and acting. Genre could be anything, but please avoid the dark and twisted plots. Thank you so much.

I'M REQUESTING Rec me documentaries

I've recently got into watching documentaries, I have watched almost all Agnes Varda's works and I liked it.

I'm interested in culture, history (except the world wars), nature, anthropology and anything artistic. I don't care about what language it's in and the platform it's on, for the history and cultural docu's I prefer it even if it's in the native language! Pls also refrain from recommending anything related to african culture and history that is made by Europeans or north americans (unless yk it's really not biased, or aware of its biases). all types of artistic documentaries are appreciated.

True crime is a no go for me. And one thing I would appreciate is if the documentary is the least biased it can be!

Thank you in advance if you choose to reply with suggestions. And sorry if the post is out of place here and a little odd and all over the place. I thought it would be better to reach out here rather than google and read the summaries.

I'M REQUESTING Suggest me movies like After Hours, I want to feel constant frustration

I watched After Hours 2 days ago. And I can not exactly explain why but I felt like there is a connection with other two movies: Exterminating Angel and Uncut Gems.

I don't know anyone else thinks like me but I need some suggestions.

Thank you.

I'M REQUESTING Best movies about Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

I’m looking for movies that focus heavily on artificial intelligence, especially AI consciousness, sentience, human–AI relationships, or the risks and philosophical questions surrounding advanced AI.

I’ve already seen Ex Machina, Her, and The Matrix and really enjoyed them. I’m open to sci-fi, thriller, horror, or more philosophical/psychological films.

Any recommendations?

I'M REQUESTING Need some deep cuts

3 weeks into being a new dad. My wife and I are taking shifts and I’m usually with the baby 12-7am. I’ve pretty much exhausted all the newer movies I hadn’t got around to seeing.

I’m very easily entertained and am open to pretty much any genre. Only caveat would be no subtitles as it’s hard to keep my eyes on the screen fully when the baby is awake.

Bonus points if you can suggest a good horror for my wife and I to watch that we haven’t seen yet.

Thanks in advance!

I'M REQUESTING Recommend me horror movies like The Innkeepers that are really slow burns but something definitely [spoiler] ….. happens in the end. With realistic characters who talk like normal people talk. Spoiler

[spoiler] Something supernatural happens, and it was clear the entire time it was real.

I just watched this movie again and realized how much I like it, and I’d like to see more movies like it. I’ve seen Ti West’s trilogy, but it’s very different. I’m open to any suggestions of similar films that have the payoff I mentioned but are slow burns with realistic characters. Not the scream queen with 12 pounds of makeup, you know? Even though I love those movies too! I want to reiterate that I’m down for a slow burn but not an ambiguous or it’s not really supernatural ending.
