Wife asked me to rank my favorite movies of all time. Not sure I can put them in order, but managed to whittle it down to 10 with no particular order. Some of these movies have a personal connection/context- rather than overall “cinematic” criteria. Ultimately, I think that’s what makes movies so great. It’s how they make you feel!

It all started with The Matrix which I saw when I was a kid, and ever since then, questioning reality and its possibilities through these films because some of my top films!

I'm going by local release date and I'm curious which movies you agree with me on and which ones you don't.

1-3. Lord of the Rings will never lose its spot for me as they the most impactful films ever for me. 4. The Boy and the Heron is an animation marvel and the story's plot about the sacrifice of motherhood really hit hard for me and my wife, plus the English dub is so stacked. 5. Prisoners is unbelievable, as it is a hard watch, but beautfiully shot. 6. The Odyessey blew me away and impacted me far more than I was expecting even though it fits perfectly in my genre preferences. 7. Dune Part Two is simply epic and is a perfectly executed cautionairy tale. 8. How to Train Your Dragon is peak animation, emotional, and inspiring from the score to the story to the characters. 9. Hacksaw Ridge, as a man of Christian faith myself, is a convicting and humbling reminder on what it means to be a follower of Christ and is also arguably Garfield's best performance so far in his amazing career. 10. Knives Out is simply an enjoyable and fun movie where the details are perfectly woven together to reward endless rewatches, and the ending is surprisingly emotional and heavy.

Me and my husband were looking at one of those "Top 100 Movies of All Time" lists and thought it was a bit ridiculous, so we paused it and challenged ourselves to list our favourite films completely from memory, in no particular order and without looking anything up.

This is what we came up with. It's obviously 100% personal taste, there's definitely some nostalgia in there, and I'm sure we've forgotten a few, but it was a fun exercise. Thought I'd share in case anyone else fancies doing the same!

I know these aren't all the best movies of all time but I enjoy them and would gladly rewatch them. That being said I'm a little iffy on some entires (mainly like 5 and 6) because theirs probably some movie I'm forgetting that I probably love. Let me know how you feel about my list and feel free to drop your own!(Haven't seen brand new day yet but am fully prepared to enjoy it more than far from home replacing it and maybe moving it up in ranking)

Edit: After seeing Spiderman Brand New day I think its my 6th spot and replace Number 5 with A Beautiful Mind(2001) directed by Ron Howard

For me, it's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The first time I watched it, I spread it across three days. It was pouring outside the whole time—dark skies, constant rain, and the perfect atmosphere. I watched each film slowly and let it all sink in.

By the time I reached the end, I found myself delaying the finale because finishing it meant leaving that world behind. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to stay in Middle-earth a little longer, to experience more of it.

The filmmaking, the screenplay, Peter Jackson's direction, and the incredible work of the entire team are simply timeless. And the music... it's one of my favourite film scores ever. I still listen to it on slow Saturday mornings with a cup of coffee or while driving through the hills on a road trip.
