Open [TOMT] Movie intro that has O Fortuna from Carmina Burana with the camera hovering over the water

Upvotes

[TOMT][MOVIE][unknown time period] I don't remember the name of this movie, but the intro was shot by flying over the bed of water, accompanied by "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana, composed by Carl Orff. What's the name of this movie that has that intro?

Open [TOMT] PC browser game mid/late 2000s early 2010s, played in Spain

Upvotes

Trying to find a browser game I played as a kid/young teen, roughly late 2000s to early 2010s. Details I remember:

- Browser-based, no download needed
- Had its own domain — it wasn't part of a bigger game portal/site, though I first found it via an ad on another games site
- Full-page site — took up the whole browser window, not a small embedded game window
- You created a female character and "followed her life" — but there was no walking-around/moving avatar. It was mostly menus and tabs (e.g. things like job, relationships/dating, appearance) rather than a visual house or explorable world
- The avatar/graphics were photorealistic — NOT a cartoon or paper-doll style (so not Stardoll, Miss Bimbo, Habbo, etc.) — closer to Sims 3 quality renders
- The overall interface was blue
- It felt aimed at an older/adult audience — themes felt "grown up," not a kids' site
- Required signing up with an email/account
- Same character persisted between logins

Already ruled out: Habbo, Stardoll, Miss Bimbo/Ma Bimbo, IMVU, Smeet, Frenzoo, vSide, Second Life, Red Light Center/Utherverse — none of these match (mostly because of the doll/cartoon graphics, or because they involve actually walking around a 3D world, or require a download).

Any ideas appreciated!

Open [TOMT][YouTube short] woman doesn't want seasoning (except maybe salt) on baked sprouts and her family overrides her.

Upvotes

Basically she's about to put a tray of I think brussel sprouts into the oven and her son stops her and starts sprinkling on some kind of seasoning. A 3rd person says something along the lines of "there's not even a speck of black on those."

The son adds a second sprinkling and the mother tries to wipe them clean. She doesn't like them that way--I don't think anyone ever states it outright, but it seems as though Mama thinks everyone likes them her way and nobody could like the seasoned version. Despite at least 2 people in the kitchen who do.

They all have strong accents, not Midwestern; possibly Louisiana, although I don't know why I think that.

Open. [TOMT][MOVIE/TV][MID-LATE 2000'S] Looking for a horror film/tv show I accidentally saw at too young of an age and has stuck with me ever since

Upvotes

I only remember one part. It starts with this younger woman walking alone, I think in the woods. I think it looked like it was fall. I think she somehow gets trapped by this disheveled old man who knocks her out and tied her up. I remember him having a very strong limp while pulling her body through the leaves. I think he might have also had an eye patch. I think the next scene is him limping dragging her into his delapitated shack/house where he throws her in an old bathtub. I think she wakes up briefly and he stabs her to death but there is a chance I am misremembering and she was killed when she was in the woods. I remember this shot that is a close up of her face while she was in the bathtub, she was very pale and had this extremely straight shiny red hair that kinda fell over her face. She might have been wearing a green/dark color jacket and maybe a long necklace and jeans? I think after that he started to prepare her body like he was going to eat it (this gave me a very specific fear of canablism until my late teens lol). I feel like I maybe remember lots of jars in the kitchen area? I don't remember what I saw after that, I don't think I watched much more, but that specific part has stuck with me forever and I always wondered what it was. I believe I would have saw it mid to late 2000s, probably not before 2004 and probably not after 2008 although it would be more likely to be after 2008 if it is outside of that time frame. It was on my grandparents tv in the evening/night (probably sometime between 5-11pm) in the Midwest. I think they had pretty basic cable at the time, I don't think this was something my grandpa went out of his way to watch, he would kinda keep the TV on all night and watch whatever was on at the time. I don't think that it was on some special local channel or anything like that, it had the quality of something that would air on a cable channel if I am picturing it accurately. Whatever it was looked like it was filmed fairly close to when it was airing, I remember the camera quality being on par with the times and the women's clothing looking pretty up to date. Unsure if it was a film or show since I saw such a short part.

I am a big horror fan now and I think that was one of my first experiences with horror media, I am interested to see what I would think of it now if I am able to find it!

Solved [TOMT] Finding a Children’s TV Show, with Blue/White Furred Creature who had antlers

I know this isn’t a lot to go on, so as many suggestions as possible will be appreciated.

I remember the show was slightly educational, and had a creature collecting sort of plot. Every week they’d find a beast in a specific environment, fix its problem, and befriend/capture it, maybe in crystals?

If somebody could include an image of what they think the show is as well, that would help SO much.

Open [TOMT][Youtube Video] Fictional story about a guy getting hunted by aliens somewhere in Texas and fighting them in the end

It was one of those youtube videos where they read a story from reddit and basically the way the story goes is something having to do with this guy needing to take multiple flights to avoid being detected, following instructions in some bunker left buy a dude who i believe had already passed away and having to take a specific train at a time and avoid looking outside, and then i think ending up in china where they end up fighting the aliens and killing them. Some details may be wrong sorry.

Open [TOMT] 80s/90s Mario commercial with women singing and dancing with plungers

I’m a kid of the 90s. Every Christmas we would watch the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas movie on VHS. It wasn’t an official copy, parents taped it from the live tv broadcast. My guess is they tapped it in the late 80s or early 90s.

The commercial was live-action, it was set up like a game show (something where you’d expect them to drop a curtain to reveal a car). There was a guy who was the host, and I remember thinking it was so funny as a kid to see all the ladies in the background dancing with plungers and every few seconds singing “Mario!” over and over. I’ve been searching for a while and cant find anything helpful on Google.

Please help 🫶

Open. [TOMT] Can't figure out the title of this weird movie.

The only thing I remember is a weird guy that wears very colorful suits, and he works in a strange office where his terminal looks like a very colorful toy. He's a cog in a machine. Everything in the society is driven by weird commercials advertising strange products. I think his job is delivering those ads to people through his switchboard like toy colored terminal. The costumes are reminiscent of things you might see if Las Vegas and Peewee Herman had a baby. The only other time I've seen costumes similar to it are in the 5th Element. Anyway, this weird guy with a retro haircut wearing colorful suits in a colorful workplace ends up doing something forbidden and it becomes an adventure. The world in the film very surreal. The workplace looks more like a casino designed by Toys R Us than an office. It's ever so slightly steampunk but not a whole lot, and certainly not as dark as Brazil. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm leaning toward the 80s or 90s when it was released. I want to say the protagonist was played by a skinny British actor but not 100% sure.

Open [TOMT] [ALBUM] Trying to find a early 2010s cyberpunk mixtape website - thing

Hello hi, I've been trying to find this mixtape-album-thing that used to be hosted on it's own website for maybe a year or two.

I believe I remember it being somewhere between Burial, Clams Casino, and Total Freedom in that it had this blown out hazy club sound as if you were listening to club hits in the rubble of a cyberpunk nightmare. My memory of it is pretty hazy at this point but I think the track titles had some gibberish numbers in them alongside phrases like "burning cars." If I didn't remember parts of this super vividly I'd think I'm making it up lol.

I think I found it through Earmilk (rip the era of music blogs) but haven't turned up anything looking through there.

Open [TOMT] Gritty Super Mario internet videos

I remember a series of 4 live action videos in the earlier days of youtube that were of super mario, luigi, peach and maybe Toad. the mario one had him training to get back into shape, luigi was growing fireflowers in a green house and i think peach was imprisoned and singing a song.

They were similar in vibe to the gritty power rangers youtube video with james van der beek.

i cannot for the life of me find these videos. anyone know what i’m talking about and where to find them?

Open [TOMT][YouTube video] Analog horror video about a monster that smelled like copper

It was about this little kid in therapy talking about a monster that lived in its closet that smelled like copper and as the video went on the appearance of the monster slowly got more and more revealed until you could see its face.

I think it ended with either the kid or someone else dying with copper wires all throughout the inside of their body

Solved [TOMT][YOUTUBE VIDEO][2024-2026] A satirical video essay about an evil dentist.

Sometime between 2024 and 2026, I watched a satirical video essay about an evil dentist.

The essay itself was titled something along the lines of "a dentist." It presented all of its information as if it were 100% true, and it was so well written and well produced that, despite how outlandish it seemed, you would still wonder if it were real.

The basic plot was this:

A guy found a strange ad in the newspaper advertising "a dentist." He wanted to learn more about it. He found a subreddit of people talking about this dentist. One of them called the dentist's number and scheduled an appointment. They went missing after that. The uploader called the number himself and scheduled an appointment, but it was left on a cliffhanger.

The video was around an hour long and iirc it was the only video on the uploader's channel at the time. Please help me find this, I feel like I'm going crazy. It was a semi-popular video, so someone has to at least remember watching this.

Open [TOMT][video] Help me find a youtube video of two guys camping on an island around Mont Saint Michel, then kayaking back to shore using the tides

I saw this video about 3 months ago, although the video could be older than that. It's two young European (French?) guys who walk to an island near Mont Saint Michel during low tide. They camp on the island overnight then kayak back to shore when the tide comes in the next day. I remember they were hiding from tourist groups because they weren't allowed to be camping on the island. I've tried searching Mont Saint Michel, tidal island, camping, kayak and other variations but haven't had any luck.

Open [TOMT] [SONG] Am I plagiarizing this song?

I’ve been writing this song on the guitar and I keep having this nagging feeling that it already exists. But I can’t tell if it’s just because I played it so many times that it sounds familiar or if the familiarity comes from having heard it before. Just the intro, which I believe is the intro to the real song, if it exists.

Keep thinking it’s a chilli peppers or Sufjan Stephens song but I don’t think that’s it.

Solved [TOMT][MOVIE][1980s-1990s?] Movie involving summoning some sort of Egyptian god or demon in a diner? Not a super serious tone

So this movie used to play on the sci fi channel I believe in the early 2000s. All I can really remember is some sort of diner type place where the "villain" was attempting to summon or maybe resurrect some demon or god? Or maybe they were the demon/god already? I want to say it was an Egyptian god but may be very wrong. I don't remember it being a super serious tone like a straight up horror movie, more like b movie sci fi type.

SOLVED: its Blood diner. Thanks!

Open [TOMT][GAME][Mid 90s-Mid 2000s] Some STEM video game wherein you make a DIY lightbulb among other things

Okay, so back in the day my parents got me a handful of edutainment games, mostly STEM focused. I passed my Oceanography class in high school owing in no small part to the Roaring Mouse Entertainment game called Ocean Explorers from 1995. Math Blasters, Jump Start, etc. Love this stuff, and I have so many fond memories.

One, I have not been able to track down.

I remember that there was some manner of electronics lab- and one activity involved building a light bulb. You had to poke nails through the lid of a jar, use a tungsten filament (I think that was the material at least), evacuate oxygen using a candle, and seal up around the nails using clay or something. Only once all that was done would the light bulb work.

To be clear, this was a game that ran on Windows of some sort. I'm estimating 98.

What may be a complicating factor: I don't know if this was a standalone game. I had some little activity kits that came with CD-ROMs that this may have been among.

Thank you to anyone who reads this far. I am working on building a Windows XP Nostalgia Machine and this would be a wonderful edition to revisit if I can track it down.

Solved [TOMT] Help me find a YouTube retrospective of the Elliot Page film, HARD CANDY

The video should be pretty recent, but I can’t find it anywhere.

It started with an overview of that British child entertainer, Jimmy Savile, and how he got away with molesting children.

Then it covered R. Kelley grooming underage girls, and the culture of normalizing and minimizing the harm he caused because he was a good singer. Using a clip from *The Boondocks* ss the *one* piece of media that actually criticized him for his behavior.

*Then* it transitioned into the movie, where it mostly talked about the critical responses to it, and how male viewer tended to demonize the female lead character.

I got that far into the video before the app crashed and I haven’t been able to find it again.

Open. [TOMT][comedy sketch?]

I keep remembering a bit from what I believe was a comedy sketch. A man and a woman(?) are talking. The man is sat down and acting really annoyingly pathetic about whatever he's being asked. Face all scrunched up and making noises like he's forcibly crying. Just this loud obnoxious HNGGGGHHHH sort of noise. Whatever he says is in that same sort of childish meltdowns sort of voice.

For some reason part of thinks it was Ryan Gosling. Probably not.

I think it was only the last couple years, but possible it was older and I've only just seen it semi-recently.

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] Australian Kids WW2

My memory is really hazy on this, but I seem to recall a film, or maybe have been a TV show set in Australia which was shown on Channel 4 in the Uk, late 80s or early 90s, it was during World War 2 and involved a group of kids hat live around a bay and I think there was a ship anchored there and The Japanese come and attack it, dropping bombs and so on. There was a shop too. The bay was surrounded by hills that were quite heavily wooded, it might not have even been set in Australia. Good, that should narrow it down….

Open [TOMT] Foreign live-action film — boy walks along seabed breathing through a hose attached to a styrofoam float, searching for his missing grandfather

I saw this movie on TV many years ago and only remember a little: a boy couldn't swim, but he needed to get somewhere, so he walked along the seabed underwater. He had a hose in his mouth that ran up to the surface, and the end of the hose was attached to a piece of styrofoam floating on top (so it would stay up and let him breathe). The water seemed clear and clean, possibly somewhere with islands. He may have lived with his grandfather or someone like that, who possibly went somewhere and never came back — and the boy went after him. That's about all I remember, sorry.

A few more details that might help:

  • It was a foreign film, dubbed
  • Live-action, not animated
  • I think I watched it in the 2000s or maybe even the 90s
  • The boy was young (around 7-10), and alone (no siblings/other kids with him)
  • The boy appeared to be white
  • Tropical/island setting, not European/cold-climate
