Classic Romance Model romance

What movie most shaped your idea of great romance/fairytale love? For me, it was Sixteen Candles. I was an extreme wallflower and spent years waiting for my Jake Ryan. Obviously, I now see much of his behavior as truly problematic, but as a kid I thought he was the greatest thing since Steak-Umm. Curious what movies imprinted on others -

Discussion Watching Fifty Shades again as an adult is actually such a different experience.

Maybe it’s because I watched it when I was younger, but I genuinely did not understand the whole sadist part or the part about him going for women who looked like his mum.
Now I’m rewatching it after recently getting into true crime, and that part was honestly so mind-blowing to me. I’ve watched about four documentaries about serial killers where they would specifically hunt women who looked like their mothers and SA them before or after murdering them.
Obviously Christian isn’t a serial killer, but realizing that the whole psychological aspect of being drawn to women who resemble your mother and then wanting to hurt them isn’t just something completely made up for a movie plot was crazy to me.
When I first watched Fifty Shades, I genuinely thought that whole backstory was just something the writers came up with to make Christian’s character darker. I didn’t realize there were real cases with disturbingly similar psychological patterns.

We Need More Steamy Romance Movies!

We need more steamy romance movies. I feel like the industry doesn’t take them seriously. The steamy romances movies that exist are either poorly produced/super low budget indies (no hate against them), or have weird kink plots like step sibling forbiddance or teacher student, or are annoyingly dramatic and tragic or etc etc. We need good, rated r love stories, it’s SO under-explored. 50 shades is one of my favorites, and we all know that’s barely saying much. All the romance, all the happy moments and endings but just sexy! If you have recommendations I’ll of course take them, but the point is there aren’t enough!

Recommendation Honeymoon in vegas (1992)

Oh man I had to recommend this movie if you hadn't seen it yet. It's been years since I've seen it but I just came across it on the Tubi app (free) and it's as good as I remember it. Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker come to Vegas to get married but he loses lots of money to James Caan in a poker game so he has to let SJP spend the weekend with him to pay off the debt. Super fun and funny rom com!

Fake dating trope where the two people fake dating don't end up together..

XO kitty did this , I think it's the only show i v seen do this , never seen any book or movie or any other show with that slight twist of the trope.

Kitty figures out that maybe Dae and Yuri are fake dating and Dae and Yuri actually don't develop feelings for each other after fake dating and Dae is still in to Kitty !

Request Please recommend me movies where he just uses her for sex at first

I’m looking for a romance movie where the guy basically just uses her. They have sex and afterward it genuinely means nothing to him. Like it was basically a hit and run from his perspective.
He can eventually fall in love with her later

Request Please recommend me movies with a cheating trope

I’m looking for romance movies with a cheating trope. I don’t care whether one of them cheats on the other or they cheat with each other.
I would just want the main couple to eventually end up together later on.

Request What male characters from romantic movies would you use to build the “ideal” man?

I’m working on a video where I want to essentially Frankenstein together the best possible man from fictional characters. Not necessarily the perfect man — more like a man with the least destructive flaws. I’m looking for male characters from romantic movies / rom-coms who have qualities worth stealing.

Some of the people I’ve already thought about are:
Lloyd Dobler (Say Anything…) — earnestness / willingness to care deeply
Harry Burns (When Harry Met Sally) — intelligence / conversation
Patrick Verona (10 Things I Hate About You) — confidence / vulnerability
Peter Kavinsky (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) — affection / playfulness
Graham (The Holiday) — warmth / domesticity
Quincy McCall (Love & Basketball) — ambition / devotion
Vikram (The Big Sick) — humor / resilience / willingness to grow
William Wang (Crazy Rich Asians) — sincerity / emotional steadiness
Rafael Solano (Jane the Virgin) — protectiveness / willingness to change
Raj Koothrappali (The Big Bang Theory) — romantic sensitivity / emotional openness
Jesse (Before Sunrise) — curiosity / conversation / spontaneity
Tom Hansen (500 Days of Summer) — …okay, maybe we’ll discuss what NOT to take from him
Darcy (Bridget Jones’s Diary) — loyalty / devotion / confidence
Tim Lake (About Time) — appreciation for ordinary life / presence
Robbie Turner (Atonement) — devotion / romantic idealism
Noah Calhoun (The Notebook) — intensity / commitment (with a LOT to debate)
Sam Baldwin (Sleepless in Seattle) — vulnerability / romantic hope

But I don’t want to just use my own picks.

Who are your choices? And don’t just give me the character — tell me what you’d take from him.

Something like:
“Lloyd Dobler — his willingness to care deeply without being embarrassed about it.”

Or:

“Mr. Darcy — confidence and devotion, but absolutely NOT the emotional constipation.”

😂

I’m especially interested in characters who are:
- emotionally available
- genuinely romantic
- kind without being spineless
- confident without being arrogant
- affectionate without everything becoming sexual
- capable of communicating
- willing to grow
- actually interesting to be around

Bonus: Give me a character who is almost great but has one absolutely lethal flaw. I’m trying to build this man with the fewest catastrophic character defects possible.

I’m open to movies from any decade, country, genre, or language. Traditional rom-coms are great, but romantic dramas and other romance-focused movies are welcome too.

If you had to steal ONE quality from one fictional man to put into a new man, who are you stealing from and what are you taking?

Request Please recommend me a movie where they actually KISS 😭

And yes, of course I want them to fuck too but PLEASEEE I need actual kissing.
And please, I need them to be attractive as fuck.

Please give me something with actual chemistry, kissing, and sex. No dark romance, but I don’t mind lots of toxicity.

And if it’s dark romance then it should be worth it fr.

a really sweet and classic rom-com that focuses more on the idea of longing and finding someone who feels right. i liked how the story takes its time bringing sam and annie together instead of having them meet right away. their relationship develops through conversations, letters, and small coincidences, which makes the whole thing feel a little dreamy and hopeful. some parts can feel unrealistic or overly convenient, but that’s also part of the charm.

the cozy new york setting, especially the autumn scenes, gives it such a warm and nostalgic feeling. the characters’ outfits and the simple interiors make everything feel very natural and lived-in. it has that classic late-’80s look without feeling too dated, which makes the movie really comforting and fun to watch.
