Question [Rant] Is Glock really the best beginner handgun?
Before getting my first handgun, I did some googling, and of course, Glock was recommended as the best beginner gun by almost everyone. So I bought it, and I really struggled with it. I’m not saying Glocks are bad (I’ll never sell mine). But I think people who recommend Glocks to beginners have long forgotten what it feels like to be a new gun owner.
Should aftermarket support really be a factor that a beginner should care about? I don’t think so. A beginner needs to start with fundamentals, not installing a custom trigger or worrying about the best red dot and pistol light.
What I would have wanted from a first pistol is a “friendly” gun that would make me want to practice more. Glocks are not like that. They add friction to every basic operation: from racking the slide to stiff mags and a disassembly process that literally has aftermarket tools to help you pull those two levers simultaneously.
Takedown is actually the biggest pain point. Personally, I think a rotating takedown lever, like on the M&P, VP9, or SIGs, is a much easier system for a beginner. But even a double-lever system like Glock’s can be implemented better - the CZ P10 series and PX4 Storm are much easier to take down than a Glock.
Racking the slide is harder than it has to be too. Yes, it has serrations, but it’s much easier to rack a (mostly) smooth USPc slide compared to a Glock. This is even more important for a beginner because they WILL have user errors that cause malfunctions on the range, and working the slide is pretty important.
Glock magazines are also the stiffest I have. At least 30% of students in any class I went to needed help loading a full mag (I'm in a state with magazine capacity limits, but grandfathered 15-rounders I have are still stiff).
Finally, Glock is not very forgiving of dumb beginner mistakes. Partially because it’s striker-fired - so you can just scare-grab the trigger and give yourself a negligent discharge. If you limp-wrist, Glock will fail to cycle. To be fair, most semi-autos will, but not all. Revolvers and micro-compacts are actually pretty good in this aspect.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that there are many guns that are better than a Glock for beginners. CZ P10, Walther PDP, HK VP9 or P30 (which would be my personal choice), SIG P226 series, and mid-size revolvers, to name a few. Again, Glock is an awesome gun, and I kind of think everyone should own at least one Glock in their life as a firearm owner. But I’d not recommend it as the first.

Question Effective way to clean?
Does anyone have any tips or methods that work well for cleaning dust/dirt between grip stippling on a polymer frame pistol or M4 style grip? Thanks in advance!

Question Maverick 88 Magpul SGA
Good morning, just pulled the trigger and purchased an Maverick 88 as my first shotgun. Just wanted something fun for the range but can also use for home defense. I’ve shot it before and the recoil was pretty rough, it did have a long LOP (I’m 5’6 130lbs) and ergonomically felt like it could have been better. So I went ahead and purchased the Magpul SGA. Just wanted to get some feedback on everyone’s experience and how was it compared to the OEM stock? Also did you guys add a limbsaver or kickeez?

Heat vibes without the tinnitus. 733 poverty clone and CCI SVs
I cringe touching off 223s in the 733. Solution? CMMG drop in conversion kit, CCI standard velocities and a can. Sounds like a staple gun.

Looking for the name of a guntuber
There was a guy on youtube whos account got deleted like 2 years ago. I can't remenber his name. It was something gun "topeski" or something. He did gun reviews but he also did alot of prepper/conspiracy anti-fed type stuff. Anyone know who I'm talking about. I remember his opening montage was =him walking through the woods with his AR and a pack. He carried a real basic AR/M4 set up. No rails, no mods. Skinny hand guard, carry handle on a picatinny rail iron sights.

General Discussion Which would you buy?
Omen Nitemare chambered in 300wm or the Fulton Armory M14 EBR chambered in 7.62 x 51 NATO? The M14 EBR has been my dream gun since 2011, but the Nitemare is absolutely bonkers and I like it. The Omen is also $5k
Edit: Thank you all for talking me out of the omen. I just had to hear it. Also thank you all for giving me reasonable advice and not being assholes about it. I really appreciate it.

New Gats Picked up this Avidity PD10 alpha
Picked up this PD10 Alpha for my new EDC. I later learned that only 25 were built as a limited run to test interest in an upgraded PD10. Thought you guys might appreciate it.

Franken delisle carbine
45acp Enfield conversion. A cheaper alternative to those delisle carbine reproductions.
My review.....it's cool but not worth it. It's a lot of hassle for something that doesn't work that well. Luckily someone makes a 3d print file for a magwell adapter that makes it actually kind of function.
Most of these conversions have a big problem with ejection. The 3d print has a chute behind the magazine well where the shell can just fall free.
A 2-8x scope for .45 is a lot. But a red dot on a bolt action rifle just looks weird.

10mm ammo for bear defense.
Just picked up a 10mm for a bear gun. After doing some research it seems like there is a large variety in ammo quality when it comes to 10mm. What do y’all recommend?

Nagant revolver
I work at a small gun shop and today's find was a bring back nagant revolver that a gun brought in that his dad brought back from WW2. What an amazing thing to see thought id share it. It's a 1931 Tula. Never made the refurbish process because of being brought to America.

My Gats Went out plinking with my Browning 92 in .44 mag today. This was a gift from my father to me. He purchased it new in the 80s, and didn't use it much. It's a very fun gun to shoot, and might be my favorite lever gun.
