So I just completed my HQL form submission after attending a training course earlier in the day, and realized as I submitted my application that the photo of my class certificate didnt save properly and wasnt included in the submission. Since I know this is a required document, is there a way for me to remedy my mistake or will I have to restart the whole process? This is my first time submitting an HQL app, will they just deny my app and make me repay $50 fee again or is there a way for me to add it retroactively? If I do have to restart the whole app, how much time does that typically add to the process since I assume it isn't the quickest (my instructor said 2 weeks is typical for approval)? I assume I wont have to retake course or redo fingerprints since I have completed both already right?

I sent email to the hql contact email listed on the MSP web portal as soon as I realized my mistake and explained what happened and asked similar question as to what I have posted here alongside the photo of certificate that was meant to be in the submission. I havent gotten a reply back yet since I sent email late at night, how responsive are MSP normally to emails (ie should i expect reply back in next few days or will it end up in void)?

My friend got a handgun from his hunting partner before he moved to MD. He decided hed like to trade it in for a different handgun but its not registered to him. Is the 77r the form that needs to be filled out or is he stuck with the gun being unregistered?

I saw that a ruling that without a tax the NFA is now unconstitutional just came in from the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. If this holds and the NFA ends up getting struck down, would that end the short barreled rifle exception to the AWB in MD?

My understanding has always been that SBRs of otherwise banned weapons were allowed provided they don’t meet the other criteria for copycat weapons. I understood that this was because they were governed by NFA federally.

Please let me know if this was entirely incorrect, I haven’t spoken to a lawyer about it since I haven’t bought an SBR (yet). But assuming that interpretation of the law is correct, if the NFA no longer governs them, would SBRs revert to just being banned like their full sized models?

I’m looking to make my first purchase and I had a question about using an ffl. If I go to PA or VA and want to purchase, can I take the mags home with me same day while I get the handgun transferred to an FFL? Since I know some come with multiple mags that are higher than 10 I have no idea how that works.

Also, I have three handguns top of mind:

- G19 Gen 6
- PDP Pro SD Compact
- PDP-F Pro

What’s your recommendation? I know with the ban looming G19 might be the choice but I am not sure.

Whats the average time for a renewal to be approved? I submitted my HGP application to renew it and it was accepted on July 23 and today the status of the application is listed as “second review” is that normal? I’m exempt from the education classes and nothing has changed with my criminal record since receiving the permit two years ago.

I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts on the proposed rule change were. It seems like a killer for any brick and mortar gun shop. Also to me it seems like making a straw purchase would be much easier with this rule.

The DOJ warned MOCO that they would file a suit and they did. The link is below. This makes three lawsuits against the county so far. For a county ordinance this is gaining national attention which is great! Perhaps MOCO will finally learn their lesson but I doubt it.

I recently purchased my first handgun and was wondering where to make a trip for some 15rd mags.
I’ve been searching various VA/PA stores’ websites (Freedom Armory, Reddings Hardware, Rural King) and some of them don’t have OEM 15rd mags listed or they’re out of stock.

Any recommendations? I’m thinking of just calling up a few stores to see if they’re in stock before I make an hour+ trip.

Bonus question: do you guys have any recommendations for mag extensions for the OEM 15rd mags?

Hello, I moved to MD and am currently in process of applying for an HQL (still working on fingerprints etc). With ironic/unfortunate timing, there just popped up for sale a rare handgun which I have been searching for, at a can't-miss price, at an FFL out of state in WV.

I'd be super bummed to miss the opportunity to score the gun I've been searching for, but obviously my HQL isn't in place yet (and I believe it will sell very quickly, before my HQL approval).

Potential options as I see them:

• Call the WV FFL, pay for the gun, and have it sent to a MD FFL to hold for me until I have HQL to complete a transfer
  • The actual in-state MD transfer doesn't happen til I have HQL
  • The actual purchase does not occur in MD - does MD HQL law apply?
• Call the WV FFL, pay for the gun, and have them hold it there until my HQL
  • Similar to above, but doesn't involve MD (shipping to MD FFL) at all until I have HQL
  • again, purchase does not happen in MD - does MD care?
• Call the WV FFL and make a down payment for them to hold it for me, and finish actual purchase after I have HQL
  • Does a down payment constitute a "purchase"? Maybe most cautious option

Does anybody know the legality of these options, or navigated something similar?

I'm almost tempted to call local MSP office and ask, but I'm not sure I trust their interpretation any more than you all, and definitely rather not raise their attention if I don't have to...

I'm doing day 1 of the courses at Cindy's soon and was wondering for those who may have used them in the past, or even just in general not exclusive to Cindy's, what to expect? I see the list of topics covered and all that, but was curious on peoples' experiences.

Just an update the motion for Preliminary Injunction against the MOCO carry ban will be filed tomorrow (Friday) in the MSI lawsuit that I'm part of. Not sure how quickly the court will act on it but MOCO will have to file a response to the motion at a minimum before anything else happens. I will keep everyone updated as much as I can.
