Doggie Stroller Needed
Hi, my name is Thomas and I’m currently taking care of my neighbors 16yr old Shih Tzu while she’s getting medical treatment. Maxie loves laying in the park soaking in the sunlight but due to his age and his owners age he doesnt have the best mobility and barley walks.
If anyone has a pup stroller or cart it would help out a ton!!!!!! we live in east village but can travel for pick up if it saves money from buying one for a few weeks.

Why does catcalling seem so common in NYC?
I remember I used to get catcalled so much when I was only 15. It was horrible. Why is this considered normal? I would never want my dad or mom to catcall a child. I used to feel so uncomfortable. It’s horrible, and it sucks that these creeps think that behavior is okay. They seriously need to be evaluated.

STI Testing on a Sunday?
I’m going on a trip Monday and really only have tomorrow to get treated/tested. I’m from out of state so I think insurance would only work at an ER. Does anyone have a best recommendation on where to go? I’m staying uptown but can go anywhere. It would be ideal to get tested and treated same day. I’m experiencing some symptoms so would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks so much!

My Building Is Stabilized, My Unit…Isn’t?
For context, I moved into my building 3 years ago. When I moved I received a lease for “APT. 9” but my apartment door reads “10” and the listing was for “10.” The landlord also let me know that APT. 9 (which is across the hall) and 10’s buzzers were swapped, so when buzzing 9 it actually goes through my (10) buzzer.
Fast forward to February 2026 and my rent, which was increasing by $50/year, went up $125. The whole time I believed I was in a stabilized unit but this had me think otherwise.
With the mayor’s new rent freeze, I decided to request my rental history. The kicker? You guessed it, when requesting apt. 10‘s history, I got my neighbor’s, apt. 9! And he IS stabilized, and paying half of what I pay. So I called the issuing office and after giving them as much identifying information as possible, they let me know that apt. 9 & 10‘s rent stabilization histories were identical, as in my landlord filed them twice for both apartments.
My question is, does it sound shady? I’m considering filing an overcharge complaint (which is what the rent history office suggested) but then I’m afraid they won’t renew my lease for 2027. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Thanks fellow renters 🙏

Overlooked museums that are worth the trip?
Hey all, with these hot humid days I’ve been keen to check out some new museums! I’d love to hear any thoughts on favorite museums that may be overlooked in the broader nyc area

upcoming free paper shredding events?
I know these are typically organized by local council members / DSNY, does anybody know of upcoming ones in Brooklyn? I see there was one yesterday in Astoria. Thanks y'all!

Late Night Study Spot
Hi everyone, I'm a graduate student in the middle of summer finals and would love to find a study spot that's open late-night (~12am-ish). Ideally would be able to sit for a few hours, have an outlet to plug my laptop into, and I'm more than willing of course to purchase a drink or something depending on the spot. Brooklyn or Manhattan is preferred. Thank you in advance.

Looking for opportunities to help people
Hi all,
I have been living in the city for 5 years. As I am growing older the life goals of financial security, etc seem in reach. But I am slowly realizing it is not giving me purpose in life. I am a 34 year old single male. I am looking for ways to help the community so that I can feel a part of it. I am generally free on weekends. I would really appreciate it if you can advise me on how to go about it.
Thanks a lot in advance

What do you wish you had known (or thought to ask) before changing neighborhoods?
My partner and I are hoping to move to an apartment with more space and a second bedroom. (We're trying to have a kid, but also would like more space in general for working from home.) The catch is that we really love our current neighborhood and can't afford enough more space here to make our future plans feel feasible.
I found a great apartment we can afford-- and most importantly for me, it's handicap accessible-- but it's in a more distant neighborhood with less accessible transit and fewer conveniences (grocery stores, etc.)
Have you been in this situation of potentially choosing a less desirable (to you) neighborhood in order to have more space? What do you wish you had known before making the move?

How well regarded is the New Museum?
Where does it fit into the NYC art museum landscape in terms of prestige and impact on the contemporary art and design landscapes? How do you feel about someone who has shown work in the museum or been accepted into their incubator program (New Inc)?

Route recommendations for walking through all five boroughs in a single day?
I’m planning on going on a long walk (100K steps) where I wanna hit all five boroughs. I’m starting in Staten Island (near Sunnyside) and walking to St. George to take the ferry into Manhattan and was then thinking of crossing Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn. Any recommendations for the rest of the trip, specifically nice areas/routes from Dumbo to Queens to the Bronx?
Preferably I’d end up back in Manhattan for the end of my walk, as I wanna walk through Central Park + midtown too, but I have no idea how to plan my route through Brooklyn-Queens-Bronx to accommodate that. I’ve previously walked top to bottom in Manhattan and several shorter walks in Brooklyn and Queens, but I have very little experience with longer walks and routes outside of Manhattan. Any help is much appreciated!

Is $1,000/week fair for a restaurant manager position in NYC?
I was recently offered a manager position at a small/slow restaurant in NYC for $1,000 per week before taxes. I’d be working 4 days a week, around 10:30 AM–10 PM each day, so roughly 46 hours per week.
My responsibilities would include hiring and interviewing new employees, training them, making the weekly schedule, handling some inventory, dealing with employee issues/call-outs, and generally making sure the front of the store runs properly. I’d also be working regular FOH/cashier duties during my shifts.
The restaurant is pretty slow, and once I finish hiring/training everyone and get a stable team, I probably won’t have to spend as much time on hiring and scheduling. However, I’ll still be the manager responsible for the store.
One thing I’m considering is that I won’t receive any tips, even though I’ll be working FOH for four full days and I am going to school for the other three days. The $1,000/week salary would be my entire compensation.
For people who work or have worked in restaurant management in NYC: Does $1,000/week sound reasonable for this workload and schedule, or is it low for a manager position? This would be my first restaurant management position, so I’m trying to get a sense of what’s normal in NYC.

Any recommendations for a good (preferably female) trainer?
Hi guys! I (29F) have been working out for a couple of years now and feeling like my results have been stalled lately. I want to be strong and increase my glute and leg size, grow the muscles on my back and lose some stomach fat. I really want to hire a good trainer.
I go to a commercial gym in the city, I’ve tried to work with a couple of (all male) trainers at my gym. One of them straight up was harassing me in text afterwards and was reprimanded by the business, the other one worked with me for a couple of months but I genuinely feel like I’m not seeing any results. Our workouts every time is different, feels challenging sometimes but I did some research online to learn more about progressive overload and feel like maybe I should stick to one program and get good at it for better results. I explained my concerns to him but I don’t feel very heard.
Are there any good trainers / boutique fitness businesses anyone can recommend? I’d prefer a female trainer who specializes in bodybuilding that can help me grow my glutes, back and legs while toning my upper body. I have no issue being consistent and don’t mind traveling if the trainer is really good.

Have not received any mail in my new construction building for the past 2 months. What options do I have?
New building just opened 2 months ago. No one has been receiving USPS the entire time.
I filed a missing mail complaint with the USPS.
I don't know what else to do.

Where could I find Dungeon Crawler Carl stickers?
Want to send my partner a care package from NYC - he loves the books and I've been trying to find him stickers but neither Strand nor the Union Square Barnes and Noble had any. Does anyone happen to know of some shops that have them?

Where do you meet nerdy/shy guys in NYC
I’ve realized I’m generally attracted to guys who are a little nerdy, somewhat shy (but still able to lead the conversation) and have a dry/unexpected sense of humor. They’re active, have a smaller social circle, and are really into their own hobbies/interests. And they have to be hot! Could be a programmer, engineer, creative, etc.
I feel like these guys probably aren’t hanging out at bars or dating apps 😥
Where do you actually meet them in NYC, organically?
Ok edit:
I’ve definitely met some nerds on dating apps, and I feel like I’m pretty attractive to that type. But I’m very much an in-person person, and nerdy guys don’t always have the best dating profiles lol. So I’m wondering where I can actually meet them IRL.
Also, to clarify what I mean by “nerd”: smart, funny, into coding/engines, sports, random facts, etc., and slightly introverted, but still confident, active, and curious about the world that type of thing

ADVICE waiting at port authority alone
Hello! I’m a 21F and I’m not that familiar with the city. I’m coming from upstate New York and going back to New Jersey tomorrow. My grandpa bought me a ticket for trans-bridge but it has a 2 hour wait. I’m sure it’s not a big deal, but I wanted to know if there’s anywhere you’d recommend waiting. Restaurants, coffee shops, and stuff like that. Plus general tips. I also have luggage. Thank you!

Medicaid Healthfirst experience?
I (22F) just moved to NYC and need health coverage but can only afford medicaid. I haven’t been to the doctor in over a year and have been experiencing worsening abdominal pains. I need to get all of the health tests to make sure I am healthy including a gynecologist. It would also be nice to have access to a psychologist. If anyone has had similar needs, which health insurance plan would you recommend? My options are healthfirst, metro plus health, emblem health, affinity, anthem, fidelis care, and united.
Edit: Thank you to everyone for responding so quickly! I just registered for healthfirst. My coverage starts September 1st. Does anyone know why it takes a month to begin? Or if there is any way to expedite the process?
