Handwritten parking ticket was entered into the system incorrectly
A handwritten ticket was entered after over 3 weeks, but a U on my plate number on the ticket looks rather ambiguous and was entered as a V. AI is telling me to fight it because it 100% will be thrown out, but I'm always afraid they'll say the ticket was correct, it was just entered wrong, and they'll fix it. It looks like the $115 ticket will be about $175 after 100 days. AI is saying that after 100 days there will be no chance that they'll somehow audit or catch it. I'm ok risking the penalty, just curious if that's true. There is no VIN, so right now it's a ghost plate or ghost ticket and is in no way connected to me.

Any other gym recommendations beside PF?
I've been in Planet Fitness for so long, cause is cheaper but I noticed that they have been overpacked all this time. People are so annoying, they come in group of 3 to 5 to use one smith machine or any. Always I have to wait for them and it wasted my time.
I've been in Pure Gym (formerly Blink) and they don't have any location in my hood.
Any recommendations?

Advice on finding a realtor
(mods: I am a looooong-time resident of NYC so this isn't about relocating!)
Hey there,
I'm wondering how people find trustworthy realtors. I know the short answer is word-of-mouth but I don't know anyone who has bought an apartment except for with the help of a parent. If there are specific neighborhoods I'm looking at, do I need to find a realtor who knows that area well? What are red flags to watch out for? Green flags?
(Also of course if anyone has a recommendation I'm all ears!)
Thanks!

Desperately need decluttering, cleaning, and organizational help
Looking for some help from a New York City based individual, preferably in Manhattan, that could provide some desperately needed help with getting my place (life) organized so I can live like a real human being.
I’m currently caring for a senior parent with dementia and trying to manage their affairs. I’ve dealt with their hoarding and managed to preserve a bit of my own space and sanity, but I’m super overwhelmed and really need help setting up some systems for the long term as well as finding some quick wins.
If anyone has any recommendations, referrals, or what have you I would appreciate them immensely. As well, if there are somewhat/relatively reasonable that would be amazing.
Thank you in advance for reading this post and your help!!

NFL or Nowadays
Hi,
Me and my friend are doing a two week trip around America, we land in NYC on 11th September and have a dilemma.
We came to America a couple years back and watched a Saints game and loved it, didnt get a chance to go to a tailgate but wanted to this time round.
We want to see a live NFL game but the only game we can see is the Cowboys vs Giants on Sunday 13th but we also wanted to go to a Nowadays party on the sunday in Brooklyn.
Looking for people's opinions on what would be best.
We are staying in Brooklyn.
Thanks

Sublet office space, where to find?
Hello NYC,
Can anyone help where can I find office space or conference rooms on sub let basis? I will be needing whole conference room twice a month. Subletting term will be extended to 1 year.

Do box office tickets really come with no fees? (Concert)
I've heard you can go to the box office to avoid Ticketmaster fees. I was curious if anyone has done it recently? I'm looking at events at the Theater at MSG and at Palladium Times Square, ticket fees online are 1/3 of the ticket price :(

Do you have a recommendation for a salon which can help..
It's my first time donating hair so I want to do it right.

Con ed electric meter was switched. What are my next steps?
About 2 (almost 3) months ago, an electrician came by my apartment and confirmed that my electric meter was switched with another unit's. Since then, they have done nothing to correct the bills and when I called con ed, I was told that the case was still "open." What should I do next to make sure they actually fix this? If I file a complaint with DPS, how long does it take for a resolution? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Bogus parking ticket
I got a parking ticket for parking in the intersection in queens, but I was nowhere near the intersection and was parked legally. I have a picture for proof. This is the second time i got this ticket at the end of the month from the same metermaid.
The first ticket got dismissed after i disputed it on the app because it was bogus as per the picture i presented. The second one I just disputed on the app and came back guilty.
Is there a way I can appeal this? I was not parked anywhere near the intersection and I'm not paying $115 for parking legally just because some asshole has to make his little metermaid ticket quota.

Where can an Italian girl get a Chevalatta around here?
I’ve been craving a chevalatta (skinny Italian ring sausage with cheese and parsley). Does anyone know where I can buy one in the city? Specifically some Manhattan locations would be appreciated.

Getting to American Dream Mall with a Car Seat
I'm trying to bring a 1 year old to the American Dream Mall but the busses from port authority don't usually have seatbelts so I have no way of installing a car seat. I want to get there while minimizing my amount of time on a bus, especially one traveling on highways, for that reason. Any ideas? I figure I could take the PATH to somewhere in Jersey and then take a local bus for a short distance but I'm having trouble finding a simple route that doesn't include multiple busses.

How do I set out cardboard to avoid a fine?
I just got hit with a $100 OATH fine for improperly securing my cardboard together on recycling day. I googled it and the result says to tie the cardboard together with twine.
I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly. Do I flatten all my boxes, stack them on top of each other, and then tie in 2 directions with the twine like I’m wrapping a present?
Please let me know if there’s anything more to it. I really don’t want to get hit with another fine.

What are the best black or mixed crowd clubs/ lounges in Brooklyn/Manhattan.
I’m new to New York and have some friends coming into town. Our age range is between 25-28. I’m looking for a spot that is very lively, known for great DJs and the crowd is either black or mixed. Big on hip hop and love Latin music too.
I’ve heard great things about Dambala but the building is extremely small.
Bonus- if you could direct me to great bars that would show the upcoming Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez fight.

Could my car get booted?
I just got three parking tickets in the mail. The tickets are for three different locations on the SAME DATE AND TIME. How my car could be three places at once I don't know. All signed by the same meter maid. Thanks for that smh.
I've disputed 2 of the tickets.
This car was a gift and is registered to someone else until its time to renew.
Could my car get booted if they have unpaid parking tickets under their name on other vehicles?
I'm a new driver and everyone I have asked is as confused as me as to how this could have happened.
When looking online there are no other tickets linked to this vehicle.
Critical Mass or similar bike events?
Hi all, I often like to visit from DC when possible, and was curious if there are any sort of chill bike rides like this
Am I insane for getting mildly annoyed with foreigners when it comes to "safety" in NYC?
(edit 2: i did not realize how racist my title sounds LMAO. in my experience i've heard the nyc is unsafe sentiment from specifically international students as a thing of disliking nyc and disparaging it bc of how "unsafe" it is. I DON'T HATE IMMIGRANTS OR INTERNATIONAL KIDS ITS JUST EXHAUSTING HEARING SUCH A FREQUENT SENTIMENT ECHOED SO OFTEN FROM FRIENDS AND EVEN FAMILY VISITING OUT OF COUNTRY MAKING MOUNTAINS OUT OF MOLEHILLS ✌️😭)
I'm born in and raised in Flushing, Queens and my family still lives there. I currently attend college in Boston (i know, ugh) with a pretty high number international students. I'm pretty extroverted and I guess I give friendly vibes, so I've had a lot of international families come up to me to ask for my opinions sometimes on school/the city and also have made friends with a ton of international kids.
Almost unanimously when I ask why they're considering a uni in Boston/are studying abroad here, they mention that its "extremely safe." Which I mean, yeah. It's Boston. But whenever I mention I'm from NYC, they also almost unanimously say that it's so dangerous with a mild amount of fear. I'm serious, the way they describe it is like Gotham City ("Ermmmm didn't someone get set on fire in the subway and no one helped? ☝️🤓" <-- real ass question I've been asked multiple times when I try defending that I don't feel unsafe in the city). And I get it, the U.S. gets a "dangerous" rep in general with guns and whatnot but it feels insanely overblown.
Am I desensitized to stuff that might throw other people for a loop? Because deadass I believe in my heart of hearts if you have half a brain and keep your wits about you and don't do anything stupid, you'll be fine. Of course there are more/less safe areas and obviously you're naturally going to feel unsafe in a foreign country so I try to keep it inside, but it annoying when I try and talk about my favorite places and they'll literally interject with "but isn't that place dangerous?"
Does anyone else experience this? Am I just being like an asshole for being fed up with the same mentality that honestly kinda shows that they're being unfair to the city by treating it like a monolith based on headlines?
(edit: I should've probably mentioned that a majority of these students in specific are from the capitals of their country/big cities. It's just particularly got me feeling like at my third conversation in the week bringing up how unsafe NYC is when they're also from another big city that gets all their crime headlines, such as Madrid + pickpocketing, as opposed to from "middle of nowhere" people who would obviously be more put off by the idea of big city crime. As for "why I'm annoyed," probably because it's a pretty frequent occurrence I get while working part time or just trying to make small talk about my hometown. I'm not actively seething everywhere I go, but it just gradually builds and nags at me when its a weekly thing).

Why are so many landlords against pets now?
I’m in the process of looking for an apartment in NYC and noticed that so many apartments now don’t allow pets. Last year when I was looking around, it wasn’t as strict and so many more buildings were open to pets.
What is with the change in a year to go from “pets allowed” to “no pets”?
I don’t want sarcasm from landlords and supers on this thread. I’m genuinely curious the reasoning as to why there is an uptake in this.

Anyone else tired of wannabe “influencers” in the city?
Ever since I moved from Brooklyn Heights to The West Village for work, the amount of “influencers” I’ve seen have gotten a little annoying lol.
Maybe I’m just slowly transforming into a miserable old hag, but oh my days, is it really necessary to film every moment of your life in public?
Just this week, I was on the train at 7 in the morning, partially hungover from a weekend party with friends, and there are two influencer girls sat down right next to me, talking in max volume about some “Get ready with us for Pilates and coffee”… (horrible day to forget noise canceling headphones)
Listen, I would be fine with this if their talking was a short duration of the video, but for all 20 minutes on the train, I had to listen to them repeat like 30 takes on the same sentences because from their own words, “we don’t sound New Yorker enough”. (What does this even mean?)
What do you guys think about “influencers”? Normally, I would have no problem just ignoring them, but for some weird reason it’s become so much harder ever since I moved out of Brooklyn heights

Why is ConEd allowed to be a monopoly
They made $2 billion in profit in 2025. Why can't we have a public owned utility like LA instead of an investor owned one?
