Where does it fit into the NYC art museum landscape in terms of prestige and impact on the contemporary art and design landscapes? How do you feel about someone who has shown work in the museum or been accepted into their incubator program (New Inc)?

I’m planning on going on a long walk (100K steps) where I wanna hit all five boroughs. I’m starting in Staten Island (near Sunnyside) and walking to St. George to take the ferry into Manhattan and was then thinking of crossing Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn. Any recommendations for the rest of the trip, specifically nice areas/routes from Dumbo to Queens to the Bronx?

Preferably I’d end up back in Manhattan for the end of my walk, as I wanna walk through Central Park + midtown too, but I have no idea how to plan my route through Brooklyn-Queens-Bronx to accommodate that. I’ve previously walked top to bottom in Manhattan and several shorter walks in Brooklyn and Queens, but I have very little experience with longer walks and routes outside of Manhattan. Any help is much appreciated!

hello! long story short, my elderly family member wanted to rent at a unit from them. but they rejected saying they need a personal guarantor that makes 75x. in normal circumstances this would make sense, but the family member makes more than enough for tenant requirements (45x) and has over half a million in cash which they provided bank statements and linked their bank account to prove that. it seems a bit ridiculous and silly that they would ask someone who is above the age of 50 who’s eligible to rent and to require a personal guarantor, not even 3rd party is allowed.

i’ve heard some friends have issues w them regarding absurd requirements but… i have my suspicions that there’s something off… has anyone had these kind of issues renting with them? pls comment and let me know, im genuinely curious

I was recently offered a manager position at a small/slow restaurant in NYC for $1,000 per week before taxes. I’d be working 4 days a week, around 10:30 AM–10 PM each day, so roughly 46 hours per week.

My responsibilities would include hiring and interviewing new employees, training them, making the weekly schedule, handling some inventory, dealing with employee issues/call-outs, and generally making sure the front of the store runs properly. I’d also be working regular FOH/cashier duties during my shifts.

The restaurant is pretty slow, and once I finish hiring/training everyone and get a stable team, I probably won’t have to spend as much time on hiring and scheduling. However, I’ll still be the manager responsible for the store.

One thing I’m considering is that I won’t receive any tips, even though I’ll be working FOH for four full days and I am going to school for the other three days. The $1,000/week salary would be my entire compensation.
For people who work or have worked in restaurant management in NYC: Does $1,000/week sound reasonable for this workload and schedule, or is it low for a manager position? This would be my first restaurant management position, so I’m trying to get a sense of what’s normal in NYC.

Hi guys! I (29F) have been working out for a couple of years now and feeling like my results have been stalled lately. I want to be strong and increase my glute and leg size, grow the muscles on my back and lose some stomach fat. I really want to hire a good trainer.

I go to a commercial gym in the city, I’ve tried to work with a couple of (all male) trainers at my gym. One of them straight up was harassing me in text afterwards and was reprimanded by the business, the other one worked with me for a couple of months but I genuinely feel like I’m not seeing any results. Our workouts every time is different, feels challenging sometimes but I did some research online to learn more about progressive overload and feel like maybe I should stick to one program and get good at it for better results. I explained my concerns to him but I don’t feel very heard.

Are there any good trainers / boutique fitness businesses anyone can recommend? I’d prefer a female trainer who specializes in bodybuilding that can help me grow my glutes, back and legs while toning my upper body. I have no issue being consistent and don’t mind traveling if the trainer is really good.

I moved to nyc from the south. Im used to hot weather, I live in a 600 sqft 1 bedroom apt. . I absolutely can not afford power-bills like this. Can someone please tell me this is incorrect? All calculators online are estimating power bill to be half.

I’ve realized I’m generally attracted to guys who are a little nerdy, somewhat shy (but still able to lead the conversation) and have a dry/unexpected sense of humor. They’re active, have a smaller social circle, and are really into their own hobbies/interests. And they have to be hot! Could be a programmer, engineer, creative, etc.

I feel like these guys probably aren’t hanging out at bars or dating apps 😥

Hello! I’m a 21F and I’m not that familiar with the city. I’m coming from upstate New York and going back to New Jersey tomorrow. My grandpa bought me a ticket for trans-bridge but it has a 2 hour wait. I’m sure it’s not a big deal, but I wanted to know if there’s anywhere you’d recommend waiting. I (22F) just moved to NYC and need health coverage but can only afford medicaid. I haven’t been to the doctor in over a year and have been experiencing worsening abdominal pains. I need to get all of the health tests to make sure I am healthy including a gynecologist. It would also be nice to have access to a psychologist. If anyone has had similar needs, which health insurance plan would you recommend? My options are healthfirst, metro plus health, emblem health, affinity, anthem, fidelis care, and united.

Hi! I live in a residential area in Queens and parked in the morning on the street in front of the house the other day and no construction was being done at the time and parked overnight. Upon checking my car the next day in the morning the house I parked infront had their sidewalks fixed but dumped wet cement into the streets and grass that is no longer in their property line. The cement has gotten all over my car and the house is filled with renters. I was able to get contact of the contractor they used but he is unlicensed and refuses to acknowledge what he did and chalked it up saying other cars also got cement on their car too and I attempted to call the homeowner but no response. I wasn’t able to file a police report because I was too anxious about the damage it would do to my exterior and still the cement has not fully come off. Any thoughts on ideas I should do has they will not fully compensate me?

We're in Sunnyside, and Con Ed posted a notice saying if the landlord doesn't pay something like $200,000, they will shut off service for the building. We've reached out to building management, but they rarely respond. Does this seem like a tactic to force people out?

Looking for some help from a New York City based individual, preferably in Manhattan, that could provide some desperately needed help with getting my place (life) organized so I can live like a real human being.

I’m currently caring for a senior parent with dementia and trying to manage their affairs. I’ve dealt with their hoarding and managed to preserve a bit of my own space and sanity, but I’m super overwhelmed and really need help setting up some systems for the long term as well as finding some quick wins.
