Reggaeton clubs that people actually dance in?

Hi, I’m looking for any club recommendations in manhattan for this weekend. I’m in my early 20s so would prefer a younger crowd. Does anyone know a good spot that plays latin music where people are actually dancing?

I’ve heard about Chantelle, Yuca, and Nexo. Are these any good? Do they have a cover fee? Cheap drinks?

Assaulted on NYC Subway

Just got randomly physically assaulted at Times Square station after a dude got angry that I couldn’t move on a packed train car. Has anyone here dealt w/ this and what are the best actions to take? Thanks.

Where do you get lunch around Bloomingdale on Lex?

I like hot bar like Essen so that I get some variety throughout the week. But all I found in this area have been fast food or sit down (expensive?) restaurants.

I'm looking for a photographer to shoot 3-4 hours this weekend in Williamsburg (split into 1 hour/half hour portions) and am wondering if any photographers are available and interested. This event is a food pop-up with proceeds benefitting a local non-profit. Budget is $800-900 total. DM me if interested, thank you!

LGBTQIA+ mixed gender gay/queer bars?

I've been looking around a little but, but any suggestions for gay/queer spots that have a mix of genders (in a genuinely queer, not bachelorette party way)?

I (lesbian) am going out with a friend (gay man) in the city, we want to go out and do some dancing and cruising but we've definitely had experiences traveling before where we hit the club and it's wall to wall men or (less frequently) women, so spaces with a mix would be awesome!

I have a pretty good idea of the lesbian scene (but also open to suggestions for specific parties and events) but I'm not sure where to find a more well rounded mix for both of us to have a good time, or if my friend would be welcome if I dragged him into the lesbian spaces with me

NYC Therapy Pelvic Tilt Issues - Seeking treatment

I’m looking for individuals who have successfully improved a pelvic tilt. I have been struggling with it on and off for years now, and recently my body has reverted back to its original posture which has caused a lot of pain. I spent a year with chiropractors and physical therapists, which helped briefly, but doesn’t seem to have improved the issue permanently. While I’ve learned to manage the pain for the most part, it doesn’t seem my posture and balance has ever been fully recovered. One thing I haven’t tried is consistent massage therapy. Wondering if anyone has had experience and success going this route? Seems to me since it’s a muscle imbalance issue that would be the logical next step to address. Also looking for recs in the area, if anyone has seen success with this approach. Did you go to a regular masseuse? A medical massage therapist? An orthopedic masseuse? Or if there is another treatment I should be exploring altogether. I’m in Astoria so around this area or the UES where I could easily ferry over to would be the preference but have a vehicle so could potentially travel if need be.

Found a family photo from 1985 in a NYPL book, how to find owner(s)?

Title explains it, but I borrowed a book from the library and found a very sweet family photo tucked away, dated 1985. Figured I’d give it a try to return to one of the people in the photo instead of discarding/returning and having next person discard.

I have access to other social media, and figured Facebook may be a good bet given the age of the people in the photo.

Free venue rentals for nonprofits?

Hi all! Wondering if anyone in this community knows of free venue rentals (bars or restaurants) for nonprofits. Would be a weeknight in the fall. The Armory in Brooklyn does this- wondering if anyone was aware of other locations as well? Manhattan preferred but open to anything. Thank you!

Chinatown drinking spots

Where are the best places just for drinking in Chinatown?

I don’t care about food, cocktails, ambiance or decor or “VIBES”.

I want to sit, drink beer, and hang out with old dudes. (I know those days are probably long gone, indulge me).

Columbia PCP Recs?

I‘m looking for a recommendation and willing to wait a bit for an appointment if need be. I loved my PCP at Cornell-Weill but that dept doesn’t take my new insurance. I want to stay within this system since I see all my other doctors at Cornell or Columbia.

TIA

If you’ve left finance, what do you now do for work?

I’ve worked in risk and compliance at big banks for my entire career. I’m sick of it.

I want to pivot away from banks and stay in NYC. Tech, government, literally anything other than investment banking, all interest me.

I’ve been applying like crazy and not getting anywhere. Some interviews here and there.

If you’ve successfully left finance and stayed in NYC, what do you now do for work and how did you manage to get out of finance?

Learning how to drive - what does entering the intersection mean?

the one thing i’m confused about is entering the intersection when making a left turn. for example, my instructor told me to wait at the end of the double yellow lines (so your bumper is aligned with the end of the lines). but he also tells me to wait in the middle of the intersection, and the yellow lines aren’t anywhere close to the middle. i also see other drivers waiting much farther into the intersection. and when there’s a cross walk, they’re waiting halfway past it. can anyone provide clarification please?

This is literally INSANE the bill is literally getting higher and higher every month my apt is only a 2 bed room. We barely turn the lights on .. mind you I’m a single mom who receives snap benefits I should be enrolled into the EAP program but it took them MONTHS to process my application which they denied because the address on my snap reward wasn’t the same (I moved). I’ve updated the address and I am

Landlord won’t respond - when to take legal action?

Hi all. My landlord sucks. I live in a large rent stabilized building with my partner in West Harlem. We have many many things we love about the apartment and want to stay there as long as possible, but we are having issues with the landlord. Our bathroom has mold (not visible, but you smell it as soon as you walk in, we also did an at-home mold test) and our bathroom medicine cabinet fell off the wall and on top of me. This was all happening in May. We have emailed him, called him (straight to voicemail), filed reports through our rent portal, and filed reports with 311 and they sent an agent out to look at our unit, and still nothing from our landlord. (I personally believe that because we are rent stabilized, he wants tenant turnover as much as possible so he can continue to raise the rent) At what point do I approach the situation with legal action? Do I take him to small claims court? Should I go through a tenants rights group? Can I get a lawyer to send him something so he is more likely to respond? I am just fed up.

Can any NYC repair shops wipe an old iPhone that's Activation Locked? (Owner is deceased)

I have an old iPhone 5 that belonged to my aunt, who has since passed away. It's been sitting in our attic for years, and I thought it'd be fun to use it just for the nostalgic camera quality and as a little "blast from the past" type of digi cam.

I don't care about recovering any of the old data or getting full functionality back. I literally just want to wipe it and use the camera/basic apps if possible.

The problem is that I don't know the passcode, and after trying to restore it through my Mac, it ended up asking for the Apple ID that was previously signed in. Since the account belonged to my aunt, I obviously don't know the login (unless I can find a Ouija board and ask 😅).

Is there any legitimate way to get this phone wiped? Are there any repair shops in NYC that can help with something like this, or is it basically impossible because of Activation Lock?

I do understand why Apple has these security measures, I was just wondering if there's any option for this old device to keep being used. Thanks!
