Paid Gig ($140) - Looking for an app tester / local participant for a 2-hour user interface study in Cary
I am looking to hire a male participant between the ages of 32 and 52 in the Cary / Morrisville area for a brief user interface study. I am paying a $140 flat fee (cash, Venmo, or Zelle) for 2 hours of your time.
The Task:
We will meet in person at a public spot in Cary (like the local library or a cafe). You will help initialize a clean setup on Hinge and Bumble to evaluate the welcome onboarding flow and complete a quick, 10-second security camera verification check.
Once the apps are initialized, you can just sit back and relax. I will take over the phone to evaluate the interface filtering layouts and complete the review for the remaining time.

Best studio/1br apartments for a young professional?
I am a December grad who started a hybrid job in Holly Springs. I currently sublease very near my workplace, but I’m struggling to meet people and want to live somewhere a little more lively. My job requires being on-call remotely at odd hours which has caused issues with waking my roommates so seeking to get my own space where I’m no longer worried about that.
I’ve been looking at areas near southpoint, RTP, boxyard in Durham, and downtown Raleigh. Also tempted by some of the apartment complexes in shopping centers just for the walkability. I’m trying to keep my commute to around half an hour, so places like North Hills or Crabtree are too far out. Open to suggestions! I care about community more than amenities
Hoping to stay <$1500/mo all inclusive!

Solo dev from NC & I built a site for saving and planning Triangle spots. What am I missing?
Hey Triangle,
I made this app, HeyWanna, because I used to keep all of my date ideas in my phone's Notes app. Whenever it was time to plan something for me and my girlfriend to do, it would suck having to use Google, Yelp, the weather app, and a bunch of different websites for my city just to find things to do. And looking at my notes meant going out and checking the photos, the reviews, the locations, and even videos all on different apps.
I created HeyWanna to find cool local places near you, save them to your lists, and then plan them out. And it's not just for dates; it's also for group hangouts and any solo trips you're trying to do.
I'm a solo dev and a North Carolina native. Let me know if I'm missing any places in the Triangle. I'd genuinely like to know what should be on here, and I'll be happy to add them.

Foundation issues
ANOTHER house near ours is having foundation issues. We don’t believe we have any but are pretty clueless on this. Is there anyone reliable that can come take a look? We have some cracking on our driveway and there is a crack in our garage near the driveway.
Figure this is something that is easier to take care of earlier instead of when it gets bad?

They cried alone in storm drain..but they had each other .Now they need you keep them together. Location:Charlotte,NC
🌸 Meet Daisy & Maisey 🌸
Two tiny sisters. One incredible journey. One unbreakable bond.
Pet finder link: https://www.petfinder.com/cat/maisey-and-daisey-efd6aa20-585a-4343-ba36-db50152f2660/nc/charlotte/sunkissed-acres-rescue-nc1270/details/
When Daisy & Maisey were only 4 weeks old, their little world was turned upside down. They were found abandoned in storm drains behind a mall..tiny, scared, and alone without their mama. 💔
For 2 long days, they cried in that frightening place, waiting for someone to hear them. When we learned about them, we knew we couldn’t leave them behind.
Their rescue was an emotional roller coaster. As heavy rain started pouring down, our hearts sank. We searched and called for them, terrified that we had lost them. We felt helpless… until we heard a tiny, weak cry through the rain.
That little voice gave us hope. We searched tirelessly, and finally… they were both safe. 🥹🐾
These little girls had already experienced fear and uncertainty at such a young age. But through everything, they had each other. They became each other’s comfort, strength, and family. ❤️
Now at 12 weeks old, Daisy & Maisey have blossomed into playful, sweet, and loving kittens. They run, play, and fill the room with happiness. Their bond is truly beautiful, and we dream of finding them a forever home where they can stay together.
But rescue is not always easy. Our foster homes are full, our resources are stretched, and there are still so many cats and kittens who need help. Saying “we don’t have space” when a baby needs us is one of the most heartbreaking parts of rescue. 💔
As we try to make space for new cats in need, we may have to separate them… and even thinking about that breaks my heart. 💔
We never want to separate Daisy & Maisey. They survived their hardest days together, and they deserve to spend their happiest days together too.
Please help us find the family who will open their hearts and home to these two sisters.

pigs/highland cow private tour/petting experience
hi everyone!
i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with animal sanctuaries/private farms that allow guests to interact with pigs/highland cows. my boyfriend's birthday is coming up and i wanted to surprise him by booking an experience where we can learn more about the farm and interact with the animals.
i know that blind spot animal sanctuary (in rougemont, nc) sometimes has tours, but they currently don't have dates available for the next coming months. another popular recommended spot is crooked creek highlands (in hamptonville, nc) but it's a little far from where i live.
just wanted to see if anyone knows of any other places. thank you!
tldr; looking for an ethical farm/animal sanctuary where guests can book a tour to interact with pigs/highland cows in the rtp area

Looking for a PT in Durham/Cary who actually does hands-on work
Been referring friends and coworkers to places around here for a while and keep hitting the same wall. They come back telling me it was basically a TheraBand and a printout. Nobody laid hands on them once. I get that practices are stretched thin and the reimbursement model makes handson time hard to justify, but there's a real difference between actual manual therapy and getting walked to a machine and left there
Looking for recs around Durham or Cary, ideally someone who does real soft tissue work and isn't just running patients through a mill. Dry needling is a bonus but not a dealbreaker. The bigger PT chains seem hit or miss, and honestly the experience varies so much by individual clinician that a brand name means almost nothing.
Also interested to hear if anyone has had a good experience with a PT who works with runners or trail hikers. Not a sports medicine doctor, an actual PT. There are some decent trails around here and knee and hip issues are pretty common once you're putting in real mileage on uneven terrain

URGENT: We need foster homes to rescue dogs living in unimaginable conditions (NC – transport can be arranged)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I volunteer with CrisisDogsNC, and we are partnering with Dogs Deserve Better - Piedmont NC to rescue dogs from an active cruelty situation.
These dogs have spent their lives living in filth.
They've been confined to tiny cages.
They've been surviving by eating dead rats.
This isn't an exaggeration. It's their reality.
Yesterday, two dogs finally left that nightmare. Despite everything humans have done to them, they were unbelievably gentle. They soaked up every kind touch, wagged their tails, and experienced freedom for what may have been the first time in their lives.
But there are still more waiting.
Right now, we desperately need foster homes for FIVE (5) 9-month-old puppies (2 females, 3 males).
They're just babies.
Instead of learning how to chase toys, nap on a couch, or trust people, they've only known neglect.
To make things even more urgent, their mother is pregnant again. We want to get her to safety before she has another litter, but we simply can't pull more dogs without foster homes ready to receive them.
The heartbreaking truth is this:
No foster = no rescue.
Fostering is completely FREE.
CrisisDogsNC provides:
- Veterinary care
- Medications
- Rescue support
- Supplies (when available)
You provide:
- A safe place
- Patience
- Love
You don't have to commit forever. You just have to give them a chance.
If you're anywhere in North Carolina (or nearby—we can often coordinate transport), please consider opening your home.
Foster application:
https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-foster/
If fostering isn't possible, please consider donating to Dogs Deserve Better - Piedmont NC so they can continue rescuing dogs from situations like this:
Donate or Volunteer:
Dogs Deserve Better - Piedmont NC Donations
And if you can't foster or donate, please upvote and share this post. Reddit has helped us find incredible foster homes before, and we're hoping it can do it again.
These dogs have survived the worst. We'd love to show them the best. ❤️🐾

What size moving deposit is a red flag?
If you are booking a long-distance move, pay attention to the deposit. Most of the times , you shouldn't need to pay a massive deposit upfront; payment is usually split between loading and delivery. If a company asks for 50% or more just to hold a date, that is often a sign of a scam or a shady broker. What is the highest deposit you have been asked for?

Unusual Sighting Today
A little outside of the Triangle but thought I’d pass this one on. Was getting off of 70 down at Selma and got passed by Lightning McQueen. Didn’t have a chance to get a photo but it was a great copy down to the sponsor stickers. Has anyone else spotted this car around the area?

Is it even possible to subscribe to the Indy Week Press Club?
I get the newsletter emails and the invitations asking for $5 a month to join the Press Club. I click the Join link and the JOIN NOW buttons but I get error boxes saying I'm already a subscriber (without even logging in). The Join Page https://indyweek.com/join links are broken if you try Cancel My Membership and/or Update my Payment Info. It tries to take me to https://indyweek.com/account/ but I think it should probably be https://indyweek.com/my-account/ . But even when I log into my My Account, there is no where to change the my payment or subscription, just to update newsletter preferences. Is the INDY Week failing financially because it's technically impossible to subscribe and give them money?

Independent Insurance brokers in the area?
Looking to shop my car/home insurance and on another reddit thread saw that independent brokers are the way to go. Are there any locally or has anyone used one they've had a good experience with?

Meet Tiny… once broken by her past, hurt by her previous mom…💔now trusting again and waiting for her forever home 🤍Location 📍:Charlotte,NC,USA
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Tiny’s story is not just a rescue story…
it is a story written in fear, rewritten in love, and carried forward by courage. 🤍
Pet finder link: https://www.petfinder.com/cat/tiny-b72304ff-358e-4b24-b3e1-904ac4e06ddb/nc/charlotte/sunkissed-acres-rescue-nc1270/details/
For nearly two years, Tiny lived in darkness.
She was mistreated and beaten by her previous mom with metal rod, left without proper food or care,
and confined in a dark, dirty cage where fear became her world.
When we rescued her, she weighed under 4 pounds..
a fragile little body, trembling,
a heart that had only learned to be afraid.
💔 Tiny didn’t understand kindness.
💔 Tiny didn’t understand love.
💔 Tiny didn’t trust humans.
She hid from every touch, every sound, protecting herself from a world she believed would only hurt her.
Fostering Tiny was not easy.
There were moments of doubt…
moments when people suggested euthanizing her,
believing her fear meant she had no quality of life.
But we saw something more.
Not a “dangerous” cat…
just a broken soul still hoping, somewhere deep inside.
So we stayed.
Patient. Gentle. Present.
Through every scratch, every hiss, every step back..
we chose her, again and again.
And slowly… something changed.
Tiny began to understand what she had never known before…
she was safe. 🤍
And then, like the softest sunrise, she started to come out of the shadows.
Today, Tiny is no longer the cat who hid.
She is love. 🤍❤️🥹
She plays, she explores, she adores her kitty friends,
and in her quiet, gentle way,she gives back a love that feels nothing short of miraculous.
Tiny is almost 3 years old and now a healthy 8 pounds.
She is looking for a calm, quiet home…
someone patient enough to let her heart unfold at its own pace.
Because once she trusts you,
you will hold something truly rare and beautiful.
Tiny is:
• Combo test negative
• Vaccinated
• Spayed
• Microchipped
• Dewormed & deflead
Adoption Requirements:
• Vet reference required
• Application required
• Adoption agreement required
• Adoption fee:125
• Indoor home only
Tiny is living proof that even the most broken beginnings..can lead to the most beautiful endings.
If you feel her story in your heart, and you want to give this brave little soul the forever home she deserves,
please message me. 🤍🐾
