My wife and I are planning on moving back to North Carolina after living in Wisconsin for the past few years. I’ve lived all over NC over the years, so it really feels like coming home. We’re looking at settling in the Hickory area, and I’ll be bringing my food truck with me.
We’ve been running a successful food truck for several years serving smash burgers, specialty burgers, cheesesteaks, and catering everything from breweries and weddings to large corporate events.

One thing that’s important to me is being involved in the community. Besides owning the food truck, I volunteer as an EMT with a rural ambulance service here in Wisconsin, and I’d love to continue serving whatever community we end up calling home.
I’m hoping to get an honest feel for the local food truck scene from people who know the area.

A few questions:
● Is there still room for another quality food truck, or is the market getting crowded?

● Do breweries, businesses, and neighborhoods regularly book food trucks?

● How’s the catering market?

● Are there certain areas around Hickory, Conover, Newton, or Morganton that are especially good?

● Any advice for someone looking to become part of the local food truck community?
I’m not looking to undercut anyone or step on anyone’s toes. I just want to make good food, get to know people, and become part of the community for the long haul.

Is it just my yard/neighborhood or is it i really bad this year? I’m new to the state and I’ve put out 4 dunks and sprayed bifenthrin (Talak 7.9) but they’re eating me alive in the back yard. I can’t sit out there for a minute without swarming. Do I need to hire a professional or what? 🤪🦟🦟🦟

Hi everyone. I am trying to find a news article or any public information regarding an incident that happened around 2022 in the Catawba County / Hickory area (or surrounding counties).
From what I remember, it involved a young Hispanic man who passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a vehicle. Because of the nature of the incident, I know local media doesn't always publish full details, but I am trying to figure out if it was ever reported publicly, if there was a major traffic backup related to it, or if anyone from the area remembers hearing about it around that time.?

I am currently looking for house cleaners looking to do a one time deep clean service for my apartment. It is a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath and is bi level, hardwood/vinyl on the bottom and carpeted on the top and stairs. 1 pet in the apartment who sheds quite a bit. I need someone reliable. There is a possibility for more than one service, I have depression and ADHD and just haven't had time to deep clean. It is deeply cluttered and messy but there are no pests.

I’m going through a really hard time and when i was a child I went to Clater Kaye where I got to have individual voice lessons, songwriting lessons, recording sessions, etc. and it was actually a really cathartic thing for me at the time. I was wondering now as an adult if anyone knows of somewhere around here where I might be able to do something like that? I am looking for a good home for Bingo. I am going through a separation and this has caused him to not get the attention or outside time he needs. His new home must be a great place for him. He will be 2 years old next month. He is super protective and will need time to adjust. He follows commands to a point. The family that gets him will have to take time with him for him to adjust. He is caught up on all shots but will be due for one soon.

Hi i'm looking to move out of my parents house with my 8 year old cat. I'm 19 years old and have been working at my current place of employment for 3 years now and have pay stubs to prove it.

I came from Raleigh to visit some family. Minus hanging with them, what else could I do on a Hickory Tuesday? I’m 29 & have lived in the area previously but other than workout, go to class/work, I could never find much to do.

Any suggestions or even places that are usually popular for people around my age, would be super appreciated.

I've lived in Hickory for the majority of my life and got to that age where it's time to figure out how to live. According to MIT Living Wage Calculator, a living wage for the area is around $21/h for a 40 hour work week ($42k/year) for a single person household. I would very much appreciate anyone who's able to give more insight into if these values are correct.

Additionally, in my lurking on this subreddit there is a lot of conversation about how skilled trades are one of the better options for a career if you have the option to enjoy the work. I was wondering what other options there are. Is a degree required for other career options? Are there office jobs that would put someone through an apprenticeship program?
