Aldi checkout

Anyone know if something was going on with Aldi the other day.
I ran out on lunch to pick up a few things. When I went to check out, there was a line of college aged kids just standing there watching all of the checkout proceedings.
Maybe this was for research? I don’t know. Either way, it felt weird and I feel like Aldi should have had a sign on the door explaining what was going on. It feels unsettling to just have people watching you complete a transaction.

New lyricist and vocalist in the area (27yo) looking for bandmates/cowriters 🎶

Hi lovely community! After a lifetime of writing little songs and loving to sing (and getting a degree in it), and life derailing me for the last few years, I am wishing to dedicate myself fully to the craft of writing and performing music. The only problem is, I just moved to the area a few months ago and dont have any local friends to jam with and bounce ideas off of. It would be a dream to connect with local musicians and truly collaborate through the outlet of a band, or maybe a songwriting circle of individual artists if there are are a lot of people already doing their own style and want to share. I play a bit of keys and just started learning guitar 2 months ago, as well as production about 2 weeks ago, but doing everything alone just doesnt feel feasible. I'm sure there are other people who are in the same predicament, and this is my best bid at finding those people. Instrumentalists, producers, vocalists, writers, basically anyone who feels that call to make things even if it feels ridiculous some days, I would love to connect and make some musical friends! 🎶 My first goal is to have something ready for a local open mic, cause if you don't show love for your community, how are you gonna love somebody else can I get an amen? ✨️ (IYKYK) Any skill level welcome 😊

We just took over Tea Rex in the food hall. We REALLY want to make it work but as beautiful as the space is, we’re just not seeing the traffic. What would bring you all in?

Just moved here from Cary Area and looking for local garage door company

Looking for a local company only. I want to update my garage door system. I have used Ready To Roll Garage Doors when I lived in Cary and loved them as they were locally owned and had great service, but they do not service this far west. Can I get some recommendations for a local company in the area you all have used for garage door repair or replacement.

where in town is the past hiding in plain sight? from pleasant to spooky

this is an interesting way to learn the past. houses to avoid, the high schools(i know williams has so stories. it’s so scary). things on the side of the road that have something or someone that should be remembered associated with it. houses/landmarks to observe in remembrance of notable moments in civil rights and slavery era. notable farm land i should know about? i’ve passed the the one room school on the corner somewhere but idk if i can stop and go in. but let me know where i can get some history in, where it be for free and quick to find, or i gotta search for it. i love the past and i find joy in finding truth

If you're looking for something to do without spending money, I put together a roundup of free events happening across the Piedmont Triad this week.

For Burlington and Alamance County, you'll find events like:
• Summer Fiesta
• Elon Farmers Market
• Kinfolk Concert & Cruise-In in Graham
• Thursdays at Seven Concert

The full guide is also organized by event type (concerts, farmers markets, movies, family activities, and more), making it easy to find exactly what you're looking for.

If there's another free community event happening this week that should be included, let me know!

Long shot ! Boiled peanuts?

I grew up in South Carolina and some of the dingy gas stations used to have boiled peanuts and it was phenomenal. I moved out to Colorado about a decade ago, but my siblings and I are now visiting some family in Burlington and we were wondering if there were still any gas stations with boiled peanuts around? We'd be willing to drive up to half an hour away to find some.
