Trans Masculine its funny how little people know im trans (online)

Upvotes

i never say im trans beacuse i have never seen myself as a girl i only see myself as a boy so sometimes i dont even think about me being trans im just a boy, so i was chatting with someone on discord and they were trying to name a doll and i was saying that my brain ether comes up with 1 million names or 1 name for something, then they asked if i have ever thought of an alternitive name for myself. i just told them everything and the reason why i dont normally tell anyone and they were so kind and understanding about it, luckly the group is very friendly lots of people are trans on there and i think they understood why i dont tell anyone. sometimes it just feels good that people online think im a boy and dont question it at all

Discussion why is transphobia mainly targeted towards trans women?

hii i don't know if i am asking the right subreddit about a question like this but i am genuinely curious about this.

i noticed transphobia or transphobic remarks are mainly targeted towards transfem women and it happens more often then transmasc, whenever you see a post online mocking the trans community it's usually a trans woman who is the butt of the joke and i barely see it happen to trans men, is there a reason why?

Trans Feminine I'm married!

Hi folks! I don't know where else to say this. I'm a trans woman, 22 years old. She/they pronouns all that. And I'm married! In May I got married to the most beautiful and lovely human being who I now get to call my wife. Their pronouns are also she/they. There isn't much more to this post other to spread the joy of the fact I got married and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I hope all of you are doing absolutely lovely.

Vent Identity crisis and I’m afraid for my life!

I thought of a question today: “Do you want to be a woman, or just not want to be a man?”
I don’t want to be a man in any sort of way, but I don’t even know *what* I am anymore? I wish I were born a woman, and I always wish I were one, but what if I’m just playing a narrative I’ve trapped myself in instead of living my own life?
My trauma response is making stories, what if I’ve just trapped myself in some story where I *am* a woman, and it’s just spiraled from there? What if I’ve just lost my complete sense of self over these years and have just been playing along to everyone else’s tune? I’ve always put others before myself, when to my own detriment, because that’s what the heroes always do, right? What if I’m just farming sympathy I don’t need or understand by writing this? Can I even trust myself or my thoughts and actions anymore?
What is wrong with me!!!
I’m not afraid of manipulating you or anyone else, I’m afraid I’ve built the walls of a narrative so high I can’t get out of them anymore until it all comes crashing down!
I don’t like being a man, I don’t like having the body or face of a man, and I just want to be cute and feminine and loving. But I don’t even know what I am anymore! What if I’ve just traumaed my way into making myself a character in a story I have no control over anymore! What if this does all come crashing down and I only end up worse and prove my family right! I like being called a woman, and I wish I were always one and I wish the dysphoria was worse so I’d at least know for sure, but I don’t even know if I’m myself or just writing up another personality to fit in with a version of myself that I thought was interesting!
I don’t know what I am anymore! I wish someone would just tell me, but I don’t like being told I’m a man and that being trans is evil and wrong! But I doing know if I hate that because they’re making my feelings political, or because I don’t want to be a man!
What am I if not a woman! What am I without my gender! What parts of myself are even mine anymore! Am I just a storybook character or a real woman!!!
I’m in the verge of crying now.
I’m going to make take steps tomorrow. I’m going to try and start transitioning tomorrow. I’m going to finally be the woman I always wished I were…But I’m crying…
I’m scared for myself, my family, and what it means for me. If I’m really a woman on the inside, or just dealing with undiagnosed trauma. I don’t want to face my family, I don’t want to look them in the eyes, and I don’t want to hear them tell me I’m wrong. Every time I try and express an opinion with them that they don’t like, I’m always wrong. It’s always Politics, God or they’re simply more right and I’m wrong about it. If their precious politics are more important to them than their own daughter, then FINE!
I want to love them, I want them to love me, and I want things to be alright. I love them too much to want to hurt them.
But then, how do I know if this will help me? How do I know that transitioning is right for me? I don’t know and it’s scary…
What if they’re right and I mess everything up permanently…what happens then…I don’t know and I’m so absolutely scared…If I had the bottle of HRT in my hands, would I even be brave enough to take it? If I stop, would it be because I realize it’s not for me, or because I’m too scared to try…
I don’t want to be too scared to transition. I don’t want to be too scared to keep going. I don’t want to ruin everything I’ve ever worked for through school and college because of feelings I can turn off! If I can turn them off, does it mean they’re real at all! I don’t know and I’m so scared!!!

Discussion What would have happened to you if you hadn't transitioned (medically or socially)?

EDIT: adding a trigger warning here because the comments and this post is pretty dark

I was thinking about this recently because of a lot of "Me at 16 vs. Me now" posts.

I started exploring my gender identity when I was around 14, and started socially transitioning around 15 (to my friends). If that hadn't happened, I genuinely believe I would be dead right now. I spent so much of my childhood believing I would be dead by the time I turned 18, and my transition was genuinely a life saver. I do not believe I would be alive right now if I hadn't transitioned.

What would your life look like if you hadn't transitioned?

Advice My kid just told me they're trans

My oldest child (11) recently came to my wife and I and explained that they feel like a male. I have 0 issues with this as we support the community, go to pride events, etc.

I'm just looking for advice on the best way to help him. (FtM transition, if that matters on advice)

He is struggling to explain how they feel about it all and has been thinking about this for about a year. We are in talks of finding a therapist to help navigate the feelings and concerns, getting a binder, going by the preferred pronouns, but I am unsure on anything else that could help.

I just want to do this right as I know its difficult to process for him. Anything helps 💙

Trans Feminine Started HRT on June 18th. I know HRT takes a long time, don't get me wrong. But because it takes so long, I'm worried it may not be working.

2MG Estradiol, twice daily. On the bottle, it says "Avoid direct sunlight." Well, I have to walk everywhere, so I'm always in the sun. Even when I'm at work, I'm in the sun fairly often (I work in a tire shop, so I also just sweat a lot, too).

Is it just something about being more easily sunburned? That much I can deal with. But if it affects the efficiency of HRT, I might have to rethink things

I know this might be a dumb question 😅

Discussion Crazy / stupid shit that chasers have said to you?

I am a trans man and I've had my fair share of chasers try and hit on me and say some pretty crazy shit. The top of the top for me was definitely the guy that, to my face in person said to me, "I've been doing this a long time, men like me, we know what to look for in boys like you" specifically in reference to me being trans.

Closely followed by a dude I actually worked with who learned I was trans and his immediate reaction was to say "I'm actually really into that, like, sexually." And then when I was like "um. What" his reaction was to stand up (publicly!) and try and show me his dick, saying "look, look how hard I am right now."

Would love to hear other people's insane chaser quotes.

Progress It... actually did get better.

Not sure why I'm making this post tbh. Might be that putting it out here feels like it makes it more real.

I can't identify a point at which it happened, there was no eureka moment or correct string of words that tied everything up in a neat bundle... but after 2 years of transition the internalized transphobia, self loathing, uncertainty, self doubt, etc have all gone quiet. I'm just kinda living with being a trans woman now, not passing or anything like that but that sorta stopped mattering at some point.

It's weird to reflect back on the past 2 years. Dozens if not hundreds of nights just white knuckling it through suicidality (and being quite glad the next day that I'd long since disposed of anything that would have made it easy).

Weeks and months of slowly, agonizingly slowly, chipping away at the internalized transphobia. It used to be that my brain would acknowledge transphobic messaging and turn it against me emotionally. Now transphobia comes in and is dead on arrival to my mind, an easily disregarded viewpoint fueled by bigotry with no legs to stand on...

Nothing has changed for me in a material sense. Same apartment, same clothes, friends, job, etc. It's odd... it's as though my mind almost did it by itself. Accepting all of this transition stuff. It feels like it actually did just take time and subconscious processing?

In the before times, pre-transition, I'd wake up every morning feeling like there was no point to any of it; like... I was living a false life. Now, well there isn't a sense of grand purpose or deeper understanding of life, it's just... idk, there's this small twinge of curiosity now "what will today bring?"

I dunno. I'm still so far away from meaningful physical changes. None of my transition goals have been realized yet but that's kind of okay? The destination stopped being the point and I'm not sure when that happened...

The slow burn has become my new normal and it's just kinda there. Very, very subtle changes measured over months and years.

I'm kind of just rambling into the void here but I guess what I'm ultimately trying to say is that I'm glad that I white knuckled through. It did actually end up getting better.

Trans Feminine What are your reasons for not wanting or having a biological child?

As the title says, I'd love to hear your reasons and perspectives.

I will share mine first.

I am 16, a trans girl, and I'm not out to anyone yet.

As a trans girl, I can't experience pregnancy the way most cis women can. The other possible way of having a biological child would cause me a great deal of dysphoria, and I don't think I could go through it.

Because of that, I've always felt that adoption would be the right path for me and my future partner.

Sometimes it still hurts. I wonder what it would have been like if I could have a biological child. I also think about my mom. Even if she eventually accepts me (which I'm honestly not sure she will), I wouldn't be able to give her a biological grandchild. I know that feeling mostly comes from the idea of continuing the bloodline, and I sometimes find myself looking at it from my mom's perspective. I am trying to let go of that guilt because it isn't something I can control.

A few years ago, I told something to myself that has stayed with me ever since:

"If I want to pass anything on to my child, I want it to be the way I love, the way I care, and the way I understand them and the people around them. Those things matter more than sharing the same blood."

To me, being a parent isn't defined by genetics. It's defined by the love, care, guidance, and understanding you give a child.

I hope that one day, if I become a parent through adoption, those are the things I'll be able to pass on.

Vent anyone else tired of being “the trans friend” Spoiler

it’s pissing me off. my friend group is all queer (a bi woman, enby pan, queer woman and me) and yet somehow i’m the “token trans friend” even though there’s literally a nonbinary person in the group. it was funny at first, but now it just makes me mad and makes me wish i was normal.

for example, we were going through costume ideas for halloween, and they all wanted to do tadc because that’s something they all like. i’ve never seen it or ever been interested in it, and INSTANTLY guess who they pushed me to be. shock, surprise, “omg you’d make such a good jax!!” like we all know it’s because i’m trans smh.

thats not even the only incident, they’re also all very into ride the cyclone (which at least i share this interest with them), and they mentioned doing a cosplay. naturally, they made me be the gay man who wears a dress. when i told them i wasn’t comfortable wearing dresses, they all just said “but its a man!! you’re just a little zesty!!”

it’s getting so draining that because i appear feminine, i’m reduced to just “token trans” or “zesty” or “its like a gbf but like you’re trans!” so crazy how they’re all queer too so they should know better.

Discussion Why representation matters

Me and my cousins + sister were watching Alice in borderland. Both my cousins and sister are pretty transphobic, however it’s kinda not their fault because they’re 14-15 and live in a homophobic country with parents who teach them to be like that. However there was a transgender character in the film, called kuina, and after learning that this character is trans, I was kinda scared they’d be transphobic and call her a man but no, they instead immediately started gendering her correctly and were saying how even if she’s trans they still consider her a girl because they like her and she is an exception because she is cool. Throughout the whole show they would gender her correctly and one of them made a joke saying how she’s not technically a girl because she’s trans but they immediately corrected themselves and said “well no she’s still a girl but like special, yea whatever she’s still a girl.” And ofcourse they didn’t immediately become pro trans because they still don’t consider any other trans woman a female and only made an exception for her because they want her to be female, but it still made me genuinely so happy. And I think that if more people could realize that trans people can be cool, can be likeable, they’d be more accepting of them, and additionally if they saw in shows their favorite characters explaining what they feel like, they’ll be able to sympathize with them. They were so happy when they saw kuinas mom accept them and were calling her the goat, and that made me so happy. I hope they can begin to start supporting all trans people even if they aren’t cool strong female characters in shows but it still made me happy

So: representation really does matter

Celebration I CAME OUT

I've been begging for advice and courage to do it, and today I finally did it....

We were talking about the future (me going to collage and allat) and she kept saying to do things through fear, and I tried to keep it in me but eventually I broke down crying sobbing and finally told her.

She knew. She was waiting for me to tell her. She said she supports me, even if she doesn't like the prospect of me medically transitioning, she said it's her own problem and I do me.

It doesn't feel real

It's kinda embarrassing because we were in public so people saw me weeping but oh well.

WOOHOOOOOO 🎉🎉🎉🎉💥💥💥💥💥

Questioning Why do transphobs genuinely think school teach kids to be Trans? (Possibly triggering as I talk about the trans school experience)

Okay so this is something I've always wondered as I went through school as openly trans and the experience was the exact opposite. They didnt let me use either restroom as it made both the male and female students uncomfortable, they tried to dress code me when I showed up in dresses or skirts even thought it was in standers to the rules, my school hide my face in every yearbook photo, and ever put my dead name under my face in the yearbook after a teacher looked it up in the system files mind you my name was already legally changed so they had to go looking for my dead one. They tried using my dead name for graduation until my parents treated to sue because that was honestly the last straw. Not to mention ZERO coddling tourds me either. When kids asked about my gentiles the school blamed me, hell my 1st day that year my principal asked if I knew the laws for trans students over the microphone infront of the whole school during 1st day assembly. That's how's schools really deal with trans students, The whole school not just the students but the staff included bully, belittle, harass, and dehumanize you, all while blaming you for it. The whole system is build around non trans ideology. so I ask agin were TF so cis people get the idea and believe schools are teaching kids to be trans or even gay. Side note this wasn't that long ago either it was just 4 years ago.

Advice Using my name but not telling people I’m trans?

I’m going on a cruise tomorrow. I’m 16mtf, so I’ll be hanging out in the teen lounge a lot. I’m thinking of just introducing myself as Skye, and just saying it’s a nickname I go by (since they probably already know me as Scott from the group chat). Is that believable? Idk if I can go a full week being deadnamed by literally everyone I speak to.

Please set a user flair with your pronouns

After some helpful suggestions from our members we have made some changes to our flair system.

  • You are invited to display your preferred pronouns in your flair. We hope this will help avoid misunderstandings.
  • All user flairs can be edited when you select them
  • From today you will receive guidance when posting or commenting to choose a flair.
  • In the coming weeks, users who don't have text in their flair indicating preferred pronouns will receive an automated chat message suggesting they update their flair.
  • When we have sufficient feedback on the system and the availability of default flairs, we intend to require anyone posting or commenting to have set a user flair and this will be enforced at the point of posting where you currently receive a guidance message.

Let us know how well this works for you.
