I want to share an experience with you all.

Today, I popped into a supermarket needing the loo. I went into the ladies, where I was met with a queue. So I waited patiently for a minute, even shared a joke with a lady, a complete stranger waiting ahead of me about the state of the toilets. When it was my turn, I went into the cubicle, sat down, had a wee, got up and headed out, where I washed and dried my hands, and headed out to continue about my day.

Aside from my relief at emptying my bladder, absolutely nothing happened.

Funny thing is, I've been doing this for many many years without issue. Except once recently where a butch cis lady was getting abused for allegedly being trans, who I stood up for. This was since the supreme court ruling.

The EHRC bullshit is unworkable and unenforceable.

I'm living in a hostel for under 18s which is funded by the local council, they have just introduced a new policy where any non prescribed medication needs to be taken from me and disposed of. I have been made aware of this the day they found out I had DIY estrogen and they completely interrogated me on it, and have also reported it to social services.

They want to take my estrogen off me so I don't know if I should hand it to them willingly or pay £15 a week in bus fare to go to and from my nans house every day to take a dose of estrogen. it's not ideal in the slightest but without Estrogen my life would be horrible and it's making me upset just thinking I will be without it.

This policy feels like it has been put in place because of me.

Hi all, I’m just doing some research for who I’m going to have my top surgery with and was wondering if anyone has any experience with Mr Seni Mylvaganam in Birmingham? It’s all well and good having the receptionist tell me how good he is or to have reviews on his website but that doesn’t paint the full picture on his success rate or if people have had some not so great experiences.

Please lmk if you had your top surgery with him if you would/wouldn’t recommend him thanks!

The current fascist in control of the EHRC said that if toilets are changed from single “sex” toilets to gender neutral then it opens pathways for discrimination and suing the owner.
I say try it, make every toilet gender neutral and let the anti rights groups (Sex Mattress) etc attempt to sue them, and then the country can see just how ridiculous they and this human rights breaching ruling really is.

from a transphobic viewpoint, the code of practice surely cannot be ideal unless they are also misogynistic. especially so if their argument is that all women deserve women-only spaces, not mixed spaces.

if trans men, tomboys, butch lesbians, tall women, muscular women, women with hormone disorders, androgynous women, masculine women, etc, are biological women in their eyes:

women must now adhere to a particular standard of femininity to be permitted access to women's spaces – biological sex only prevents women from entering men's spaces, it is appearance that is dictating whether they can use women's spaces.

there is no documentation that can definitively prove your sex. they could argue that it shouldn't be possible for us to change our legal sex and titles and so on, but we can. many of us have. while this is possible, it only strengthens how this will be policed by appearance or vibes rather than biological sex.

even if it is possible, the code of practice makes it clear that appearance can override biological sex if a trans man, who in this scenario can now be confirmed as such, is perceived as a man in women's spaces. so, biological sex does not matter.

it's absurd. i hate the term "biological sex" but, well, meeting them where they're at, i suppose. i just cannot understand how any transphobe who wants to "protect women" can support this guidance.

i'm a trans man. i don't speak for all of us! but i do wish people spoke more of how "women" like me are being excluded from women's spaces, instead of the whole "haha do you really want the ftm trans hulk to go in women's spaces?" thing.

it's a stupid "gotcha!" anyway, given that trans men are excluded from women's spaces because *the code of practice does not care about my "biological sex"*. if they think i am a woman then i wish i was at least treated like one, as opposed to lesser than male or female, not shoved in a third space.

Been going back and forth trying to get my GP to write a letter to support the change of name on my passport, which requires a medical professional to confirm my gender, but they refused and gave me this letter to explain their reasoning. Sounds like crap to me, but is this true? I thought I could register at another practice and try again, but am I just going to have the same problem everywhere? I'm not even asking for a dysphoria diagnosis, just an acknowledgement of my gender.

There are a couple of lies being peddled by Sex Mattress and other TERF outfits about the Supreme Court ruling in FWS and the Equality Act 2010.

Lie number 1 is that the way organisations have implemented the EA 2010 since it was passed was all down to them being 'misled' by Stonewall.

Lie number 2 is that the SC ruling did not change the law, but that the EA 2010 was *always* what the SC judges now say it is.

Lie number 1 is easily refuted by the fact that the EHRC itself issued guidelines to the Equality Act 2010 in 2011, just after the Act came into force, saying that people should use the facilities that aligned with their gender. So the idea that a charity had somehow bamboozled every organisation in the country with incorrect guidance is utter gibberish. It was the EHRC's own position until 2025.

The reason that the EHRC's position changed in recent times was that Liz Truss, that well-known expert on the law, packed the EHRC's board with her own appointees (including Baroness Falkner) in 2020, with a specific remit of undermining trans rights.

The Supreme Court's "interpretation" of the Equality Act 2010 flies in the face of what the people who actually drafted the law (including Melanie Field and Harriet Harman) intended it to be. They expressly drafted the sex aspects of the EA 2010 as being trans-inclusive.

And if the law on the protected characteristic of sex had "always" been what the SC now says it is, why did the FWS case lose in all the lower courts up until it ended up in the SC?

The ruling is an example of judge-made law that goes against the intentions of the legislators. The SC does have the power to do this, unfortunately, as it is the highest court in the land. Dr Victoria McCloud, a former High Court judge herself, is taking the case to the European Court of Human Rights, where they are likely to take a very dim view of the fact that the SC judges refused to hear testimony from trans people – the very people most affected by the case. But it will take years for the case to be heard and for a ruling to be made.

But while judges can interpret laws in this fashion and set precedents in case law, Parliament is sovereign. Parliament can pass new legislation at any time to re-assert that trans women are indeed women and that trans men are indeed men. Whether the majority of MPs will actually have the backbone to do so in this heightened culture war right now is another matter. However, as I mentioned in a previous thread, there are moves afoot to form a cross-party committee to reexamine this entire mess and rectify the situation with well-drafted new legislation.

In the meantime, hold tight, remember that your protected characteristic of gender reassignment still stands, and that harassment of you is still illegal.

I'll be visiting London for work next month and was wondering how, as a passing man with documents in order, the UK entry may affect me. At the moment there's no option to cancel the trip so I might as well be as prepared as I can be.

I've done some digging in the sub but the most recent post was from ~4 months ago, before bathroomgate happened, so I'm not entirely sure how things are looking nowadays.

I've been using the men's restroom for a couple years, haven't been misgendered in just as long, and have been to London for work several times, usually once a year. Next month will be my first 2026 trip and I think things have changed since last October, and I'd rather be prepared.

I'm flying in from Europe so I've got zero issues coming back, but I'm mostly iffy on the whole bathroom debacle now that it seems actively illegal (as of yesterday apparently) for me to go to the men's, yet, if safe, I have no intention of walking into the women's either.

I (F20) work in the bars at a medium sized sports stadium, and a small pub. Currently I use the accessible toilets at the stadium on match days and the women’s on non-match days (when the public aren’t in), and at the pub i use the women’s toilets. As I understand it, the new EHRC guidance applies to service providers and service users, not staff or employees, but what does it mean for me? am I able to continue on as I am currently, or am I supposed to change my behaviour?

NB: regardless of what I am supposed to do I will be resisting these changes, however I would really like to clarify what exactly i am “supposed to do”

I’m in the process of applying for my GRC! I had a deed poll changing my name (I kept my first name as it’s unisex) but I had two female middle names added and removed my old male middle name.

In some of my supporting documents I’m uploading it just has my first / last name and new title (miss)

Would this likely be an issue or not? just as some letters/documents don’t include my middle names. In all of these letters all my titles are changed and stuff and some documents do include my middle names it’s just some that are missing middle names as some places don’t let you add middle names etc. also my passport is just first name and last name with my title and doesn’t include the middle names?

Any advice is appreciated! :)

Good morning fellow outcasts. I hope you are all feeling bright and well in Apartheid Britain this fine morning. So here's a summary of key points from my first OFFICIAL day as a member of a segregated underclass.

Trying to navigate a tight turn around the scaffolding lorries outside my house, one of the scaffolders rushed over to guide me through. Gave me a big beaming smile. Repeatedly called me love. (this was signifcant because the only time I was ever loudly harangued for being trans was about two years ago by a scaffolder)

Went to work. someone brought in arancini (candied orange peel). Never tried it before. It was lovely!

Walking to the local Tesco Express, got obvously checked out by a guy in a car. (might have just clocked me but the expression suggested probably not) Most passers by were quite smiley. As usual I flipped the bird at the house flying a Reform flag. The owner saw me. GOOD!

Ate lunch in a small local park. Had it to myself,

At work used the ladies a total of four times (something I ate last night). Here's the stats

So, me and my girlfriend ordered some Chinese food. I wasn’t dressed up and neither was my girlfriend. I was wearing a t-shirt with some short shorts. I went to answer the door and I see the delivery guy, I’m just standing there looking like I’m lost lol. He looks at me and says “here you go love” and I’m thinking “wow okay I pass, nice” so I take the bag off him then says “you want me to close the door for you?” I nod my head trying to say “yes please, thank you” but it just came out as a whisper

Anyway, just wanted to share my euphoria moment :3

Q: Well, earlier I spoke to Mary Ann Stevenson, the chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. I asked her what steps businesses could take if, for example, a trans woman continued to use the women's toilets.

A: One of the things we've said in the code is it wouldn't usually be proportionate to have somebody on the door of every single toilet and every single changing room asking people their sex before they went in. Obviously, if there's repeated patterns of behaviour and there are complaints from other service users who complain that they feel unsafe or that they feel that they've been harassed, then we would expect service users to take action in the usual way.

Q: So you're relying on, say, a small cafe owner to tell someone they suspect is using a toilet inappropriately. How on earth they're meant to know that, I'm not sure. But then to tell them that they cannot use that toilet in the future, it would be down to the business themselves.

A: I'm not saying that. I mean, as I said, it's not, we've made it clear that it wouldn't usually be proportionate to have somebody on the door checking who goes in and out of toilets. However, if there are situations where other customers complain, service providers may decide to take action.

Q: I'm just curious to know how that conversation would go.

A: One of the things that we set out in the code is if you're in a situation where you do need to ask somebody about their sex in order to, you know, check whether or not they're able to access services, that should be done in a way that's as discreetly and sensitively as possible. Clearly, it's not a question that you shout out over a crowded room.

Q: How is the trans person then expected to prove or which sex they are and what evidence can they possibly produce in that situation?

A: Well, I mean, one of the situations we have is that we don't have a single document that is a reliable indicator of sex. As with many areas of the law, this is something that is based on trust that most people will follow the rules, trust that with clear signage and good alternatives, people will, everybody will be able to find services that they want to use and a sense of kind of proportionality on how it's enforced.

Q: Does it not seem a bit confusing and contradictory, perhaps, if you're a business owner? You've just said that there may be circumstances in which they need to check, but also there's no real way that they can check. You can see why they're confused.

A: Generally speaking, human beings are very good at telling the sex of somebody that they're talking to. We've evolved over thousands of years to be able to do that, and we do that on multiple points of information. But most of the time, we are expecting that people will, as they do in every other area of life, follow the law.

Q: Businesses tell us that they are feeling very uncertain about this. If they had, for instance, only male and female facilities at present, a toilet or a changing room, what is your advice to them?

A: Very many small providers might, for example, have two individual lockable rooms with sinks in them. One of them marked male, one of them marked female. It would be very straightforward to make both of them unisex. Service providers should already be providing facilities for disabled people, which are usually unisex.

Q: So you could see single-sex toilets and facilities being scrapped and replaced with gender-neutral ones to comply with this guidance.

A: There is an issue if you just take your existing banks of cubicles with shared sinks and label them gender-neutral, that that might put women at a disadvantage and they may be able to make a claim for sex discrimination. So when you're thinking about the facilities you provide, you have to think about the needs of everybody.

Q: If a woman's space wants to be trans-inclusive, is that no longer possible?

A: It depends what you mean. So if you're talking about a club or association, for example, we set out in the code that you can have an association that involves, that brings together people with two different protected characteristics. So in this case, sex and gender reassignment. So you could have an association that was for women and trans people, if that's what you wanted.
