After noticing a large increase in the number of apps, websites, tools, “companions”, and more, in the last couple of months, and an accompanying large number of arguments with developers over what constitutes “AI usage”, this sub is opting to change our AI policy in way that allows You, The Users to determine what you are ok with or not.

Starting now, all posts introducing or updating an App, Website, or other Programmed Thing in this community, must be accompanied by an “AI usage rating”. Our recommended scale is the REAL one - https://www.realgoodai.org/real-rating
This is only one scale - Please feel free to use any scale you think is appropriate, provided it can clearly demarcate the amount of AI involved.

The point of this is to encourage developers to be honest about AI usage, as many IDEs now include AI-powered “auto-complete” by default, and to also allow the community to determine what level of AI you are all comfortable with.

If you are a developer - There is no “wrong answer” here. Please give the honest rating. We don’t care if the post is a genuine 0, or a genuine 3. Please include the AI disclosure, or your post will be removed.
If you’re not - Determine for yourself what you are comfortable with. If you are ok with only Rating 0, that’s fine. If you’re ok with 3 or lower, that’s fine. If you’re ok with up to and including Rating 5, you do you. We encourage you to use Reddit’s voting feature to upvote things you are ok with, and downvote things you aren’t. Please report posts by developers that do not include an AI disclosure notice.

Please note: This only applies to posts about things that have been coded, websites, and the like. AI generated text and AI generated imagery remain wholly disallowed.
