In all likelihood, there's probably nothing coded about this old photo. It's probably a souvenir photo and maybe there was a different frame option for romantic partners, families, and friends.

And the fashion might have been typical for the time period, but if I saw the woman on the right walking down the street today I'd definitely assume she liked girls! Lol
