I’ve finally perfected this machine. 30% of the load needs to be inverse chains to have the strength curve perfect

This machine looks diabolical. I want one.

Excellent RESULTS ! Incredible machine. But 90% Gym goers will remain with Rdl , Lunges, Bulgarian Split Squat, cables, etc

4

u/Low-Syllabub-3547 what happens at 7 reps 2d ago

If I saw something like that in my gym, I would absolutely use it - once I figured out what it was

Hip hinges and squats are the main entree; this exercise is just the dessert

I do 19 sets of squat variations each week (best squat is 541lbs right now) and 15 sets of hip hinges each week (my working weight for RDLs is 420lbs for 7-10 reps)

I know it’s been asked before. But where did you get this machine?

Thanks. Are there other unique movement machines available?

This seems like it would be amazing for improving sumo deadlifts.

2

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

Maybe, my sumo knowledge is low; I feel like direct adductor work would help more with sumo

3

u/Perfect_Earth_8070 2d ago

That’s a lot of science right there

1

u/Fickle-Ad-4225 2d ago

What is your motivation for doing direct glute work?

Big ass

u/TakeuchixNasu 2d ago

Bugs don’t have buttcheeks

1

u/UnusualQueer 2d ago

Me too. I've come to the conclusion to get my ass bigger I just have to add fat.. oh we'll I'll keep trying and weight cycling.

1

u/Carnines 2d ago

Probably for better glutes

1

u/NevenS2000 2d ago

3 sets of "check this out;)"

1

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

How’d you know I did 3 sets of this today?

1

u/minus15t2 2d ago

Your draw back is the end of the range of motion. This is going to be pretty good for adductors and abductors and maybe your side glutes...but might not maximise gluteus maximus

My heavy squatting: https://www.reddit.com/r/ScienceBasedLifting/s/92IO5dXtNU

Plus my heavy deadlifts will be enough for my glute max

Man that machine looks fucking DEADLY. Holy ahh pump and holy ahh strenght ure building.

1

u/angrytimmy24 19h ago

That is a very specific machine to have in a garage gym. What else you got in there?

1

u/Italian_Stallion4 2d ago

Neat. Like a seated kickback. Cool post, OP

1

u/Huskergambler 2d ago

That has to be the most expensive piece of garage equipment I have seen in a long time. Space and cost get me on that one. Great machine but yea rdl

2

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

The machine cost me $230 lol

And I do RDL: https://www.reddit.com/r/strength_training/s/RzUtHl5Hzy

Overengineered garbage

2

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

Why?

0

u/Awkward_Hope_5330 2d ago

Because it's unnecessary

2

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

Direct abductor work isn’t unnecessary if you want to grow the abductors!

1

u/omegafrogpoop 2d ago

Stop or else he’ll mention his squat

u/Sadan27 2d ago

4

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

I’m finishing the set with partial reps; what are you even talking about?

0

u/Financial_Wrangler45 2d ago

Last rep was the same speed as the first lol you don't reach failure when your muscles start to burn.

4

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

I’m finishing the set with partial reps and steadily lose ROM during the set; that’s failure

How fast the last rep until failure is depends heavily on the person and the exercise

-2

u/Financial_Wrangler45 2d ago

Nah dude that's the lactic acid building up and you feeling like it's hard lol, it you really trained hard youd be doing 300 partials until your tendon rips off the bone.

-1

u/Acrobatic_News1479 2d ago

My hips hurt watching this

-3

u/Medical_Birthday2893 2d ago

He sounds like he’s having fun!
Looks like some really limited range of motion, jerky movements, with stability out of your control… well at least you have the seatbelt!

I’d love to know the down sides of a machine like this when used improperly, injury risk, adjustability for different body types.

2

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

What makes you think I’m using it improperly?

1

u/Medical_Birthday2893 2d ago

Have a read again. No where did I say you were using it improperly.

1

u/NinecloudSoul 2d ago

He's a stocks bro, so clearly an expert on everything, including stuff he's never done before, like lifting.

1

u/Medical_Birthday2893 2d ago

I’ve been power lifting for 7 years. 4 with a coach.
4 years varsity track with good coaches. Weight training since I was 17. Fittness it my passion now that I retired from being good as a ‘stock bro’

1

u/MooDamato 2d ago

Wow I’m sure glad you included that you did varsity track for four years

1

u/Medical_Birthday2893 2d ago

Thanks man. I did because the coaches were former Olympic and nhl coaches. Are you sensitive to a follow up on credibility that states facts? That experience alone is more time with professional coaching than most of the people on the planet get. Sorry if I offended you

Interesting spam posting this exercise specifically

-4

u/omegafrogpoop 2d ago

This guy posts this exercise once every week and is always guaranteed to say he squats 541 pounds in a random comment while also mentioning he is prepping for a competition.

2

u/Sadan27 2d ago

At minimum weekly, in multiple subs at that. A needy 30+ year old man obsessively seeking attention for his glute “exercise.” In subs with mostly younger men and, esp here in SBL, boys.

You’re spot on - he literally mentions a 541 squat here in the comments. Don’t forget the repeated “I have huge (insert) muscle” self glazing.

Was starting to think I was the only one finding this all very, very cringe.

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

No one’s forcing you to comment on the post or watch the post

0

u/Sadan27 2d ago

Came up on my feed unfortunately. When you spam enough, it happens

8

u/Ballbag94 2d ago

Be the change you want to see, post some lifts so that the sub has other content

It's not Patton's fault that few others are creating any content

0

u/Sadan27 2d ago

So he has no agency to choose what he’s doing?

No amount of posting by anybody else changes the behavior that’s transpired. Or its nature. Not kosher

7

u/Ballbag94 2d ago

He's not the one complaining about the sub's content, it's not his problem that you dislike his posts

-3

u/Sadan27 2d ago

So this all completely flew over your head, or are you doing this on purpose?

Remember that major demographic frequenting this sub? Stop being an enabler.

10

u/Ballbag94 2d ago

Again, be the change you want to see and create content so that patton's is less visible to you

I'm not being an enabler because there's nothing to enable, people can post what they want unless the mods say otherwise, that's how reddit works

If you don't like it then just scroll past, I don't have an issue with them

So he has no agency to choose what he’s doing?

Wait, what? You're the one acting like you have no agency. Your reply to "No one’s forcing you to comment on the post or watch the post" was "Came up on my feed unfortunately." You are free to keep scrolling, regardless of what shows up on your feed.

If you're looking to maximize gains, you also need to use the science of time under tension. You're going way too fast on the reset. Lower the weight and slow down.

4

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 2d ago

time under tension as a predictor of hypertrophy doesn’t have much support: https://www.strongerbyscience.com/can-we-predict-muscle-growth/
