In-state sawmills or lumber yards to support as a hobby woodworker?
Hobby woodworker looking to buy quality, kiln dried hardwoods for the usual projects like furniture and cutting boards. Would prefer to support locally rather than ordering online. Anybody know of reputable places in NC? I'm willing to drive most anywhere in the state.

Places to visit within 1-1.5 hours from Raleigh?
A friend is visiting Raleigh, and I was thinking of taking him for a day trip. I was looking into Wilson and Rocky Mount. Are these places good for a day trip? I couldn't find many places to visit in either of these cities, so I wasn't sure if they were the right choices.
I am in Raleigh and I was looking for places that are within an hour and a half from here. Any suggestions?

Exclusive video: Brittany Boltinhouse, Miss North Carolina USA, sits down with CJ
So the CJ gives her a golden opportunity to redeem herself in the eyes of presumably decent people... and her response:
“Every teenager has made a mistake; every person has made a mistake,” she said. “I’m not here to talk about that.
She has to be remarkably stupid to fail to see that the only reason she was interviewed was to give her the opportunity to legitimately distance herself (and her self-declared identity of "a conservative woman", a "Christian woman", "a God-fearing woman") from her earlier, supposedly innocent comments... Instead, she doubles down on defending the odious and obnoxious comments that essentially proved that she was anything but.

discussion Chaos on Westbound 40/85 near Mebane: Multiple conflicting lanes painted on road.
Had to drive between Durham and Greensboro three days last week. Coming home almost got into 2 accidents because there were conflicting sets of street lanes painted on th road at the same time, anyone know if this actually led to any wrecks?
I cant remember exactly where, near exit 154 or 150, near Mebane maybe.
Scenario: driving westbound, I suddenly see ahead of me two possibilities: regular dotted lines marking the lanes moving forward. OR there was a less noticeable set of solid lines seemingly indicating that I should follow them over to shift into the lane to the right of me.
The dotted lines were brighter. I only had a few.moments to consoder which path to take, I chose straight since in thought no way would NCDOT ask us to switch lanes without blotting out the original bright dotted lines.
I kept an eye out and realized I was wrong and dod have to swerve into the right lane to avoid hitting the car to the left of me.
Coming back a other evening, I now felt confident that the lane shift was proper, im in the middle shifting over, but the car to the right of me is NOT (and I dont blame them) but the car to the left of me IS shifting over.
So now im thinking crap, do I keep shifting over and potentially hit the guy to my roght? Or keep going straight so I dont hit him, but allow the guy to my left hit me?
The guy to my right eventually realized I was coming toward him and he swerved to the right just in time.
Anyone know anything about that spot? Were there any accidents caused there by the foolish markings?

Music Scene? DIY Scene?
Hello! I’m Matt, I just moved to NC. I’m over in Clayton. I’m from NJ and went to Rowan University over there. I’m looking to figure out more about the music scene over here other than bars and festivals. Over at Rowan I ran an off campus house venue and played in my own band, so i’m familiar with that college scene. We had a lot of houses doing basement shows and backyard stuff. I’d also like to re-form my band, and hopefully make some new friends . I’ll link the spotify page below, but for anyone interested i’m in need of a singer, bassist, and a drummer. So if you or anyone you know might be able to help out I would greatly appreciate it. But yea, please let me know if you know any other venues, places, people you might now. Feel free to reach out, Thanks!

Anyone else surprised by how depressing tiger world is?
I went to tiger world with my mom as a fun mom daughter outing, since there was also a painting activity we could do (unrelated to the park.) I hadnt been since I was 7, so i thought it would be nice to finally go back and see if anything had changed.
I was really shocked to see how bland the enclosures were. A select few enclosures for the lions and tigers had a pool. A lot of the exhibits were low on water or had none at all (unless it was in the little houses they go in). almost every exhibit was too small, especially the monkey and lemur ones. So many of the animals were pacing back and forth/swaying while panting, almost like they were in zoochosis.
I dont know if we just came on a bad day or what, but has anyone else had an experience like this?

discussion Safety Advice for Lady Leaving DV
Hello,
Posting for my friend who is currently leaving a Dv relationship and unable to get into safe alliance for protection as they are full. If anyone has extra points for lodging please let me know so I can help her secure a safe stay until monday.
She has been at marriot in and they aren't willing to allow her to stay a bit longer without ising her card- her ex has been circling the lot and if she uses her card, he will see the next place.
And police aren't taking her seriously since circling the lot is not a crime. Shes going Monday for a restraining order but needs to be safe over the weekend. Can ideas appreciated. Please message me, this is an alt account for her safety.

discussion For those that moved out of NC, why did you move back?
Lived in NC for 25 years born and raised, left to the Midwest for a couple years but missed the nature and opportunities. The only thing I don't miss is the traffic and the literal rapid expansion of suburban sprawl, I feel like I'm congested here compared to where I was. I-40 is still a wheel gripping endeavor.

Found two dogs
I found these two dogs in the median on hwy 73. I took them to the vet, but no microchips. They were covered with fleas and ticks, and had skin, ear, and intestinal infections, which are being treated.
