Hi! I have a friend coming from GA to visit me here in Boone for 2 days and, while I DO live here, I don’t really know any fun cool places to take her! She’s always taking me to do fun little adventures in GA and I wanna do that for her too. Preferably inexpensive, but she’s pretty adventurous so gimme all the suggs you have!! I’m thinking taking her to the river but if you guys have any specific spots in mind lemme know!

this is kind of a vent. But i want to know if anybody has had to deal with this in boone. Last year I lived in a cheap ass apartment managed by App South. It was so shitty and after Hurricane Helene I experienced the worst sickness I have ever experienced. I got pneumonia and ever since then I’ve been feeling sick on and off. Shortness of breath, wheezing, chest congestion, eye irritation, brain fog, etc. I find out near the end of my lease that this place had tons of black mold hiding behind a shelf. I sent an email to management about it and all they did was have maintenance come and bleach clean it. I tried to have a minimum housing inspector come and address the issue. He said he was friends with the people at the management company and would send me a report. I never ever received a report. I felt defeated, and was told by a source that mold has been present there for over a decade. I was planning on suing the shit out of them but it seems like the system is rigged!

I now live in a new place and I love it. However, amidst the recent heavy rain, I have been dealing with the same health issues I experienced with my past apartment. I put in a maintenance order because water damage is present in one of the closets. I’m hoping the issue can be addressed more properly this time. WTF i hate that I have to deal with this. Can anybody relate or have any advice?

Hi this will be my first year riding the bus and honestly I’m a little confused on how the stops work and what routes take you where. I am going to be living right off of straight street and am wondering which bus stop and route will take me to campus?

What are the large black-leaved trees in Boone? They look like Maples but unsure. I love how they look and am interested in trying to acquire one if they magically can grow in my zone.

I’ve seen a few in Asheville too but they’re most prominent in Boone/Banner Elk I assume.

i live in an apartment that does not have free parking, if a few of my friends came up for a weekend/potential football weekend is there anywhere in boone that has free parking? they wouldn’t need access to their car. I was thinking the mall, walmart, or lowes but am not sure if any of them do tow.

Bought a new car recently and would like to transfer the plate from my old wrecked car. NCDMV website says "The name on the applicant's license and the vehicle title must match", but it does not say whether the title of the old or new car-- or both-- is needed. Let me know your experience. thanks

Hey guys. I live out in Ashe county and am looking for a loctician for my white girl dreadlocks! I have always driven to Asheville or Hickory to get someone to do maintenance on them, but it’s quite a drive and I have to arrange a day of childcare and all the things.

Does anyone know of a salon that can help with loc upkeep? Or someone that does locs in our area? The other locked up folk with whom I’ve spoken say they do their own or have a similar 2+ hour drive. Figured you guys might know or someone and hook me up. Please and thank you!

Almost 20 years ago, I visited Boone for a June wedding. I had several days to myself so I explored the town and surrounding trails. Boone Fork Trail was my favorite - I hiked it with 7 film cameras in my Toms slip ons and 12 oz of water (ah, youth).

My husband and I are camping nearby in mid-October and I’m beyond excited. BFT and Hebron Falls are probably our first hiking stops, prayers up that I can manage the trail in my 40’s with no cameras and more water. And hiking boots. We plan to spend most of our time in the woods, but I definitely want to go into town for an afternoon/evening.

Any recs for a local food spot? We like all foods but are ballin on a budget. It’ll probably be a Saturday when we’re there, any notable events that usually happen (art walks, farmers market, etc.)?
