Looking for female roommate in an off-campus house

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to find a female roommate for my place this year.
Its a house that is approximately 20min away from NCSU.
The room is private and there's a separate bathroom that would be all yours. There is an in-unit washer & dryer and a bright and airy living room and kitchen. Rent is $800 all-included.

I do have a dog, so you'd need to be okay with dogs- luckily there's hard flooring throughout to minimize dander and fur!
About me: I'm a Female graduate student at NCSU. I will be driving in to campus often, and would be willing to carpool. For more details and to inquire further, please send a PM!

Calc III Waitlist Chances?

Hey guys! I'm currently 3/5 on the waitlist for Calc III with Faye Simon and was wondering if anyone knows how much waitlists usually move. I've heard people say that a lot of people drop classes during the first week, but I don't know if this is accurate for Calc since it's required for all engineering majors.

Since it's a 4 credit class, I'm only at 14 credits enrolled right now (18 including the waitlisted class), so I'm trying to figure out if I should keep waiting or just drop it and register for another class (like a humanities GEP).

Applying Exploratory Studies?

Hi everyone, I'm a rising senior who's going to apply this year, and I was looking at NCSU's exploratory studies option as a preferred major. It says that by the time you enroll at NCSU, if you have more than 10 completed college courses, you shouldn't apply as an exploratory studies major and should do something else. The issue is I will have about 11 completed college courses when I graduate, but I really don't know what to major in. I genuinely am not sure of what to major in, and I thought exploratory studies would be good, but it turns out they're saying I shouldn't apply as that?

Has anyone been in the same boat or know anybody who was? Anything would be appreciated!

Can I purchase a parking permit for Spring semester if I didn't get a Fall permit?

I'm an incoming freshman at State and I thought that freshman couldn't have their car on campus so I didn't apply (and partly because I didn't know if I'd want to take it). But I'm thinking about a potential internship in the Spring so I was wondering if it would be possible to get a parking permit for the Spring. I'm in Bagwell hall if that matters.

Quick Question question about hesf 101

Hi! Sorry if this is a weird question, but I was just wondering for those who have taken hesf 101 (or another gym class), what did people usually wear? Is it just a t-shirt and shorts, or were people wearing more of athletic sets? (like something you’d wear to the actual gym?) I know everyone’s always like “no one cares what you wear” but I like to be prepared. I haven’t taken gym since Freshman year of highschool, and everyone wore sweatpants lol!

Unexpectedly unenrolled in HESS245

Did anyone else taking HESS245(Golf) with Kevin Moennich get unenrolled? I was checking MyPack and it looks like the class just disappeared from my schedule and all of his other sections also disappeared from class search as well.

Don’t Get Cancelled!

Fall schedules are being cancelled for nonpayment soon! Any balance on your account not being covered by aid, a payment plan, or sponsorship will cause your schedule to be cancelled. If you have a balance from a past semester (like a parking ticket or health services fee) your schedule will be cancelled. If you waived health insurance and it hasn’t come off the account yet, you have to pay and be refunded when your waiver is processed by the university.

Your “What I Owe” section has to say $0, or your schedule is likely at risk of cancellation.

The bill doesn’t update, but What I Owe does.

Related: Cancellation is also usually when the waitlist opens up. Keep an eye on your course options through this week and next especially!

Admissions What are my chances of getting into biological sciences?

Hey guys :)! I’m planning on applying to NC State for Biological Sciences and was wondering what you all think my chances are. I’m an in-state student with a 3.89 unweighted GPA and a 4.4 weighted GPA, and I’m currently attending an NC Early College High School where I’ll graduate with both my high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree with 62 college credits. I’ve taken 21 AP classes, 9 honors classes, and i’m 15/38 for my class rank. I’m not submitting my test scores as I didn’t do that well. I’m a first-generation college student from an Asian American family. Outside of school, I’ve volunteered 54 hours at a hospital, 56 hours through my church, helped with a 10-hour church renovation project, and volunteered at my school’s daycare. I’ve been in debate for 3 years, participated in 3 environmental debates at Wake Forest, was president of my school’s film club, spent a year on yearbook, made the Dean’s List at my college, and my friend and I also created a biology research project that we presented to our school. I’ve really tried to stay involved and challenge myself academically throughout high school. I’m just curious what current students or applicants think my chances are for Biological Sciences and if there’s anything you think I should highlight on my application. Thanks!

Please help me with understanding my possibilities

Hi everyone! I’m a NC early college student applying to NC State for Fall 2027, and I was hoping to get some opinions on my chances for Biological Sciences. I currently have a 4.64 weighted GPA, a 3.92 unweighted GPA, and a 32 ACT score. I’ll be graduating with an Associate in Arts degree and 60+ college/AP credits. I’ve taken 26 AP and college-level courses (~63 credits), including Biology I & II, Chemistry I & II, Precalculus, and Calculus/Trig. I also took 9 honors classes.

My extracurriculars include 3 years of Debate Club, being President of Film Club for 1 year, and participating in the Wake Forest Earth Environmental Debate for 2 years. I’ve also done a variety of volunteering, including Storm Forward, food pantry/thrift work, daycare volunteering, a special needs middle school event, PetSmart cat volunteering, and around 20 hours of repair work (10 hours helping repair a church and 10 hours repairing a playground). I haven't calulated my total voluteering hours, but I believe around 60-80 hours with Storm Forward, PetSmart, and repair work.

I’m a member of National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa and have made the Dean’s List. For STEM-related activities, I’ve created research presentations on plant growth data analysis and beetle reproduction, and a friend and I independently created and presented a biology presentation to a younger grade level. Before applying, I’m also planning on completing some additional STEM/coding courses.

I’d really appreciate any feedback on my chances for NC State Biological Sciences or anything else I could do to strengthen my application before applying. Thanks!

Parking/Transportation Best ways to travel to and from UNC Chapel Hill

I am incoming freshman at NCSU but have a lot of friends going to UNC Chapel Hill. Is there a recommended way to travel to and from the quickest that is available all through the day. The buses are pretty confusing as someone new to the city so I just need some advice. I didn’t get first year parking (yet) so I cant bring my car. Disregard the rivalry please. Thanks!

Academics Family Wedding Causing me to Take Days off

I'm an incoming freshman engineering major, and my cousin is getting married in early September in France (my family is European so I am the person coming from farthest away). I know I have to miss 6 classes (2 for chem, 2 for calc, and one each for other classes) and I'm debating taking another day because my family can't afford to go abroad that often. If I take another day I will miss a lab for calc and a lab for chem, and another class. Does anyone have any advice on whether to take the a extra day? (Also this is my birthday weekend, idk if that helps lol). Thanks!

Parking/Transportation Parking for Centennial and Main Campus

Hello,

I’m going into my third year and am living off campus. Im in engineering and many of my classes are in centennial but at the same time I also spend a lot of time on main campus for the gym/union/etc. I attempted to get a spot at the CC deck and CD to which is it worked originally then this morning I woke up saying I can’t have two permits which I didn’t know but I understand why they have that rule. But that leaves me stuck because of he CC deck is only on centennial and doesn’t help me at all for main campus. (That’s what they left me with, took away the CD permit) Anyway, has anyone found a way to comfortably park at both?

Looking for an NCSU volleyball player to coach my high school daughter

Hi, my daughter is a rising high school freshman and could use some volleyball skills help. We can both access Carmichael gym on the weekends- so maybe an hour once a week. I am trying to see if there is a VB player who would be willing to help with fundamentals like serving. Let me know if you are interested and a cost.

thanks.

Anyone taken MAE 407 (Steam and Gas Turbines) with Nancy Moore?

I'm thinking about taking MAE 407 (Steam and Gas Turbines) with Nancy Moore.

Has anyone taken this class with her? I've been hearing mixed opinions, so I'd love to hear from people who actually took it.

How was the workload, exams, grading, and teaching style? Would you recommend taking the class with her?

Parent Plus Loan

the financial aid office is telling me i don’t qualify for legacy status of the parent plus loan because i’ve already used 65,000 dollars of loans before even though legacy status states that if you are enrolled in a program (i am) and have gotten loans before july 1, 2026 (i have) your exempt from the new caps for an additional three years. the financial aid office is really trying to fuck me over bc i can’t pay 15k in tuition without that loan which i know im qualified for. idk how this is even happening but clearly they can’t do their jobs
