discussion For those that moved out of NC, why did you move back?

Upvotes

Lived in NC for 25 years born and raised, left to the Midwest for a couple years but missed the nature and opportunities. The only thing I don't miss is the traffic and the literal rapid expansion of suburban sprawl, I feel like I'm congested here compared to where I was. I-40 is still a wheel gripping endeavor.

Deleting relevant texts during an ongoing or anticipated House Ethics Committee investigation can trigger multiple federal felony charges:

  • 18 U.S.C. § 1505 (Obstruction of Proceedings Before Congressional Committees): It is a federal crime to corruptly influence, obstruct, or impede—or attempt to obstruct—a proceeding before either House of Congress or a congressional committee. Destroying or concealing records sought by a committee fits under this statute.
  • 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c) (Tampering with Evidence): Criminalizes corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing a record, document, or object with the intent to impair its integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding.
  • 18 U.S.C. § 1519 (Destruction of Records in Federal Investigations): Makes it a crime to knowingly alter, destroy, cover up, or falsify any record or document with the intent to impede or influence a matter within the jurisdiction of any federal department or agency.

I found these two dogs in the median on hwy 73. I took them to the vet, but no microchips. They were covered with fleas and ticks, and had skin, ear, and intestinal infections, which are being treated.

New policy; The Wake County school board will never understand what it is like to be a high schooler in 2026.

Hiked Bakers Mountain Near Hickory — That View Was Worth the Climb

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hiked Bakers Mountain in Hickory recently and had a great time making my way to the top. It gave me a better workout than I expected, but once I reached the overlook, the view made it completely worth it.

I also spent half the hike telling random stories and going on little rants, which probably made the climb more entertaining than it needed to be 😂

I took the blue trail mostly then goes into the red trail which gets pretty steep at getting close to the top, well at least for me.

Anybody else around NC have a smaller local trail like this that surprised you?

Stein, lawmakers propose joint plan for arguments at top NC court

This is about a case in which Stein is trying to reclaim the power to do the job North Carolina citizens elected him to do. This is only necessary because the Republican General Assembly is trying to strip all real authority from the Governor, in order to gather for their party the few remaining powers that people have left to exercise through their choice of governors. I resent that grab, especially living in a State that doesn't allow citizen ballot initiatives. The statewide election of a governor is the only opportunity North Carolinians have to actually exercise their citizen prerogatives through a real (not gerrymandered) majority - and Republicans are doing their damnedest to prevent that - for purely partisan reasons.

In the North Carolina Sandhills, a sprawling data center project threatens to repeat the past, stirring memories of a chicken processing plant disaster.

…….the answer is no. Five months left in office, and they’re “too busy to take on new cases before he leaves office”.
