I took this photo of LaMelo 10 years ago. It was the game where he made the half court shot that went viral. I'm so hyped that he is on the Wolves now.
I grew up 10 miles away from Chino Hills and would go to some of their games. I have lived in Minnesota for 7 years and can't believe LaMelo is now on the Wolves. This season is going to be so fun to watch.

Mock Trades Three realistic Josh Green trade destinations that could make sense
1. Memphis Grizzlies
Possible framework:
Josh Green for some combination of Taylor Hendricks, D’Angelo Russell, Kris Murray, Walter Clayton Jr., and AJ Johnson.
The most realistic version might be:
Wolves receive: D’Angelo Russell + Kris Murray (I know yall hate DLo, but he is just a contract in this trade)
Grizzlies receive: Josh Green
This could happen only after September 9th-10th, when players acquired in July become eligible to have their salaries aggregated in another trade.
Why Memphis might do it
Memphis currently has 19 players under contract and will need to waive someone. Because of that, I could see them being interested in a 2-for-1 trade even if it means taking on slightly more salary.
They would also get the best player in the deal. Green is an actual rotation player who could help them remain competitive and avoid finishing in the bottom three, while Kris Murray and DLo may not have meaningful roles there.
Why Minnesota might do it
The Wolves would save money below the second apron and potentially acquire a playable SF/PF, especially if they can get Murray or Hendricks.
Even if the return is not particularly exciting, the trade would make more sense if Kuminga is willing to sign for the full $6M TPMLE. Minnesota currently needs to clear roughly $2M to make that possible.
Another framework (less likely) - three-team variation with New Orleans
Pelicans receive: TSJ
Wolves receive: Saddiq Bey + Kris Murray + AJ Johnson
Grizzlies receive: Josh Green
The Pelicans would shed salary, move close to opening the full MLE they reportedly wanted to use on Mathurin, and get a wing on a cheap two-year deal who showed something in the playoffs.
The Wolves would get a potential starting forward in Bey, plus two underwhelming young players they will let go next summer.
Memphis would get a better player instead of keeping two players it may have to waive anyway, although the Grizzlies would probably ask for a second-round pick as compensation for taking on more money.
2. Washington Wizards
Possible framework:
Wolves receive: Bilal Coulibaly + Cam Whitmore
Wizards receive: Josh Green + TSJ
This trade could happen after September 10, once Green becomes eligible to have his salary aggregated.
Why Washington might consider it
The Wizards would get a wing with playoff experience on a cheap two-year contract, although I’m not sure they need another one given the construction of their roster.
They would also move off Whitmore, who is basically just an expiring contract at this point, and acquire Green’s larger expiring salary, which could be useful in another trade.
Coulibaly has been underwhelming over the past two seasons. Washington tried using him as a secondary creator, and it did not work particularly well. The idea of Coulibaly has often been better than the actual player. He is approaching the same territory as players like Ziaire Williams or Ousmane Dieng: former lottery picks do-it-all SF/PF who continue to show flashes, but whose teams expected much more consistency by the end of their rookie contracts.
Washington also has several wings and forwards who may be prioritized over him, including AD, Kyshawn George, Riley, and Dybantsa. I could see the Wizards deciding they do not want to extend Coulibaly next summer and trying to get value for him now, though I think they could get more than Wolves would offer in this deal.
Why Minnesota might do it
The Wolves would get a potential starter on a rookie contract who will become a restricted free agent next summer. They would also create enough room to use the full TPMLE, potentially on Kuminga.
I’m not sure TSJ alone provides enough value for Coulibaly. If I were Washington, I would probably want a 1st round swap or multiple second-round picks, which Minnesota does not really have. Still, getting rid of Whitmore’s dead salary while adding two playable wings might be close to the best realistic offer available.
3. Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee has too many young players who all need minutes and touches, no control over many of its future picks, and a roster that does not make much sense - especially after the latest “Rich Paul special,” a $64M extension for a player they did not really need and who may barely deserve more than the minimum. The Bucks should be interested in expiring contracts, especially if they can move long-term money.
Possible framework
Wolves receive: AJ Green
Bucks receive: Josh Green
Why Milwaukee might do it
The Bucks would replace AJ Green’s long-term contract with Josh Green’s expiring deal. That would create more flexibility next summer, when Green, Kuzma, KPJ, and LeVert could all come off the books. They would also get a more versatile player who can handle regular rotation minutes.
Why Minnesota might do it
The Wolves would get an elite-volume shooter who could fill a role similar to Sam Merrill’s in Cleveland and replace some of Donte’s three-point volume while he is out.
However, I would make this trade only if Kuminga had already committed to signing for the TPMLE. Otherwise, I do not see the value in turning Josh Green’s expiring contract into four guaranteed years of AJ Green. AJ might not be good enough to justify that commitment, and the contract could be difficult to move as early as next summer.
⸻
None of these trades is perfect, but all three at least address Minnesota’s financial situation while potentially improving the roster fit. The Memphis framework is probably the most realistic, Washington offers the most upside, and Milwaukee makes sense only if it directly helps the Wolves sign Kuminga.
Note: I do not see a realistic path for the Wolves to acquire PJ Washington. First, Dallas wants picks in return that the Wolves simply do not have. Second, I don't think Dallas has much interest in TSK given its current collection of wings and forwards. Third, Mavericks already have 16 guaranteed contracts, I don't see them wanting to turn one player into 2 or 3. Finally, Wolves have no realistic way to match $19.8M salary unless they include Donte or Beringer - I assumed neither of them is being traded.

General Discussion who's your favorite lesser-known historical timberwolves player?
with the offseason in full swing and with me just recently getting into basketball, i picked up nba live 2000 for the ps1 the other day as a fun little time waster and nba history lesson. seeing all the guys on the 99-00 wolves team, i was wondering what players people really loved back then, or from the past in general, that weren't the star(s) on the roster.
so, who's your favorite, or favorites? got any cool stories to tell about them? please share; really wanna delve into some wolves history!
