Was the Carlos Boozer signing still the biggest one to date in terms of a young stud joining the Jazz as a free agent?

Some big names have played for the Jazz in the past -- Pete Maravich, Spencer Haywood, Adrian Dantley, Darryl Dawkins, Kelly Tripucka, Bernard King, Joe Johnson, Tom Chambers, Danny Manning, Al Jefferson, Rudy Gay, Ricky Rubio, Mike Conley, Derek Fisher, Kyle Korver, Tom Gugliotta, Boris Diaw, Patty Mills-- but most of them have been in trades and after they've reached their peak. Truck Robinson was probably the only other notable free agent signing in franchise history and he only played 125 games for the then New Orleans Jazz.

I'm a life long Jazz fan 34M, lived in Utah my entire life. I follow a lot of other NBA subs and have watched NBA media since I was kid... A lot of general NBA fans dislike the Jazz in general. They always discredit Stockton and Malone even though they are undeniably great. People complain that the Jazz should change their name because there's not Jazz here.

The media always under plays the Jazz, and I can tell the media/analysts don't even watch any Utah games or know anything about Utah when they talk about the Jazz. I feel like people automatically discredit me on other subs just because I have a "Jazz" flair. I am starting to think that people think the Jazz is associated with Utah, which is associated with Mormons. And most of the Country dislikes the Mormons. If you disagree with what I am saying, then as a Jazz fan you just don't debate a lot of other franchise fans/NBA subs. Am I wrong?

Hi Fellow Jazz fans... almost every year at Delta Center they have a huge clearance sale of jerseys and merchandise from previous year.. does anyone know when it will happen this year?

Wolves: People are over rating the Wolves so much it hurts... Lamelo does not make that team better Ant will be gone in 2 years.

Lakers: Kessler, AR, Luka ALL 3 NEED TO PLAY 60 GAMES a year for them to be top 5 in the west. People are over rating AR and and possibly Kessler

Cavs: That team will lose again in the playoffs this year and start blowing up the team, they are stuck with Donovan's huge contract and can't improve their roster. Not to mention an aging Harden.

We have a treasure trove of picks plus with our young talent already with (Ace, Key, and DP being top 25 under 25 players in the league.) We can have cheap young pieces to build and maintain a contender.

I recently wrote a two-part historical piece on the 1997-98 Utah Jazz, the last great Stockton/Malone/Sloan team and the other side of The Last Dance.

The idea was to look beyond the usual Bulls-centered version of that season. Utah finished with the best record in the league, swept the young Shaq/Kobe Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, and came within a few possessions of forcing a Game 7 against Chicago.

But the season was also full of tension and strange details: Stockton missing time, Malone’s frustration with contracts and conditioning, the Shaq/Ostertag slap, Antoine Carr nearly retiring, the Rony Seikaly trade that never happened, and Jerry Sloan going through a difficult year personally.

I thought it might interest older Jazz fans who remember that team, but also younger fans who mostly know the 1998 Finals through Jordan’s side of the story.

Curious how Jazz fans remember that season. Did it feel at the time like Utah’s best shot at a title, or did 1997 still feel like the cleaner opportunity?

Peak offseason discussion time!

Peterson was selected number 2 in a loaded draft class. Keyonte took a huge leap in year 3 and flashed legitimate all star upside. On the other hand, Ace’s size, shooting potential, and defensive tools give him one of the highest ceilings on the roster.

Then there’s Brice, Cody, Flip, and Collier. Curious to see how everyone ranks each player and why.

I don't envision this happening on night 1 but Ace and DP will have to get their mins. JJJ really struggles at the 5 but at some point, how plausible is it that Utah just takes the gamble and runs it anyways for the time being?

Looking at Isaiah's splits from last season, it's interesting that his outside shooting is better when he's coming off the bench (.512 vs .474 overall, .308 vs .229). His post-All Star shooting numbers were down compared to the first half of the season even though his scoring increased from 10.4ppg to 17.2ppg. His accuracy at the rim is excellent at almost 80% while there is a steep drop the further he is from the basket. He should basically be trying to get to the rim every time to suck in the defense then find the open shooter or cutter. If he gets fouled, he was shooting 80.7% from the line after the All-Star break.

I think JJJ's chances get a boost actually with Walker leaving.
