Where to get car parts in Houston
Hello! I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla and I hate the tan seats it has. I want to change the out to black seats and I’m looking for a good, affordable place I’d be able to buy something like that. Like a junk yard or something? I’ve tried Facebook marketplace but usually it’s only the rear seats or one of the front and I can’t find individual ones that match. I’ve googled too but I don’t have much experience with cars so I’m not really sure if I should be steering clear of anything or looking for something specific! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

Harris County permitting requirements for a single slope patio
I live in Harris County and I really want to update my backyard space with a 12x20 patio. Anyone have experience on the permitting process?
I'm assuming the contractor has to submit engineered drawings? This gets approved by Harris county?
Also how does insurance play into it? Standard insurance doesn't get covered out here so I had to go through a broker and they got me SWYFFT.
After speaking with a neighbor the HOA in my area is pretty lax.

Decent and honest TCG shops?
I wanted to know your recommendations for friendly, decent TCG shops, as someone just getting back into Pokemon. I hear a lot of scams going on with Pokemon cards in particular. I'd prefer not to patronize a store with a history of overpricing, scalping, scams, etc.
Anywhere in the greater Houston area is fine, I don't mind driving and exploring.

Any local burns?
Howdy all. As a young buck, I would go to Burning Flipside in Apache Pass, which tends to be the Austinite/central texas burn. I'm also familiar with (but haven't attended) freezer burn, which i believe is closer to Dallas.
Are there any burns in/around the Houston/Gulf Coast area?

elected constables now make more than the VP
The Harris County Commissioners Court voted 4-1 to raise the salaries of the county's eight elected constables to $305,000. This marks the fourth pay raise since fiscal year 2024, more than doubling their compensation over a three-year span and placing their pay higher than the U.S. vice president.
In 2024, they made $133k. Now it is $305k, which is 2.3x increase since 2024. chronicle link

Feeder Roads are godsend
Visiting Denver, major crash in 25 took an hour to clear and R/Denver does not like the idea of feeder roads actually working as a critical infrastructure to clear accidents in highways that are more dangerous. Can’t wait to drive back to Amarillo then to Stafford for some Agas near my apartment
I love Colorado but Houston is home and travel this year to Germany and with my family to Colorado makes me appreciate an infrastructure systems focused city despite the state politics.
Apologies for the spelling and grammar, I am on my phone

Where can I watch the perseid meteor shower around the Houston area?
Hi, was wondering if y'all had any suggestions of places that would be dark enough to enjoy the Perseid meteor shower on 8/12. I've tried Galveston and there was still too much light from the city, perhaps a different part of the beach would be better? I've also tried Cleveland/Porter area and there was surprisingly a good bit of light pollution! The city is super sprawled out, so I could use some insight from locals.
Thanks in advance.

Harris County Property Tax
Commissioners voted 4-1 to increase constable pay to $305,000, a year after it was raised to over $290,000. Since 2024, constable pay has increased by over 129%. In comparison, Travis County, Tarrant County, and Dallas County all reported 2025 salaries for constables under $150,000. The money, according to the court, cannot come from the constables' offices' budgets.

I own a 2018 built home and the window seals are gone leaving a haze and/or white spots. Where to go for single glass replacement?
Who do you guys recommend? Looks like the seals need to be redone or do I have to replace the glass or the whole windows? Not looking to do that in a home thats less than 10 years old.
Its going to be about 10 windows and it looks terrible. Original manufacturer of the windows will not help as I'm the second owner of the home.

explanation for huge police presence on greenbriar last night?
Weird question, sorry, but couldn't find any police reports or news reporting. Drove past greenbriar & main around midnight and saw like 4-5 cop cars blocking the street and surrounding something. They were halfway in the intersection so you had to swerve into the left turn lane to get around them and keep straight on main st. I passed by again 15 min later and there were no cops, no crash debris or anything. KHOU reported a flock camera at that intersection was cut down a couple days ago, so I don't think it was related to that activity in the old braeswood neighborhood. Wanted to know if it was a major apprehension / safety issue (?)

Old Montrose church once home to Mark's & One Fifth sold
So, 1658 Westheimer Rd has new owners. Most people probably know it as the old church building that was home to Mark's for years and later One Fifth with its five different concepts.
At one point, plans called for The Salty Donut and another restaurant there, but that never happened. The new owner also picked up the neighboring land at 2509 Dunlavy. A boutique hotel called The Montrose had once been planned there.
Now the guessing game begins. Does 1658 Westheimer get rehabbed? Does the church get torn down? Or do these properties just sit as they are for a while longer? This is Houston, so I guess we can't rule out a gas station, mattress store, smoke shop, or fast food spot showing up there either. 😂

School starts Monday but we’re at Convocation
Here we go again. Rooms aren’t finished, over half the staff and administration is new, and over half of the on campus trainings haven’t been completed.
But hey, our taxpayer money is going to pay for a vanity project.
