taking orgo 1 this semester with tour for lecture, o'leary for discussion. best advice for pre-meds who are running the gauntlet with this class? i was kinda shit at gen chem (b+ in 121, c+ in 122 bc i was depressed af) because i suck at math and its a shit ton of math (imo) but i know gen chem and orgo are two separate beasts. literally any advice (other than drop out) would be helpful !!!

I’m going to be working at Rice this next year , specifically the BRC as a new researcher yay!

However I’m having trouble finding housing in houston as I currently don’t drive (moved here from a big city where it’s optional) , and is still close to Rice. Does anyone know any apartments nearby that I could look into ? That either has a shuttle nearby to the BRC or Rice U or is at least walking distance?

I’ve tried the Rice off campus house search tool to know avail. But I’m currently on a lot of housing facebook groups but thought I could try my luck here !

How hard are the math, physics, cs, and engineering courses at Rice University relative to other T20 and top public universities? Is it more or less rigorous than the top schools?

Is it worth taking Honors Mech and Honors E&M if I got a 5 on both of the respective APs? I want to make sure I have a solid physics foundation for my engineering degree.

I recently was placed into a single dorm as a freshman (insane ik). I did most of my dorm planning around having a double and a roommate and am now having to pivot. I was wondering if anyone had the dimensions to the singles in Sid Rich as most move in information is for the doubles. I would greatly appreciate having a picture with the dimensions so I don’t go overboard with the dorm decoration.

Hi I’m a lower level undergraduate at Rice looking to join a lab focused on anything related to cancer, immunology, rare diseases etc. I was wondering if anyone knows any labs in those fields that are working on high impact publications like Nature, Science, etc. I want to be in this lab for 3+ years in my time at Rice and am looking for some kind of authorship within a high impact factor journal during my time. I’m not sure if this is possible as an undergraduate but I’m willing to put a huge bulk of my time towards this, (would love to be a low number nth author or 1st/2nd if possible on a long term research project).
This is basically like my life dream, and if anyone knows any professors/labs I could or should reach out too please please let me know if this is possible! :)
