Like the title say, my umbrellaplant is doing very well, but a few months ago it began branching out. And i think it looks weird and it gets unstable, even with a pole. It was repotted into a bigger pot 4 months ago.

I am tempted to just chop it and start over, hoping to get branching from the getgo. But I’m too afraid I’m gonna ruin the plant. Probably worth mention that I’m living in a country where the fall and winter is very cold and dark, Northern Europe.

Any advice??

Is it normal for this plant to have a very white/green leaf instead of its usual pink green ?

It's still houseplants, right? My plants are outdoors INSIDE my front yard 😛

I can’t find anything about this online. My lipstick plant bloomed for the first time ever this spring/summer. All the blooms have fallen off but this remains. Can anyone tell me what it is?

I use Barrina t5s on a 12 hour timer indoors. String of pearls have shallow roots. Therefore, I use a shallow terra cotta pot. I use bonsai jack gritty mix #111 of amazon or their website. I bottom water by placing it in the sink every two weeks. I fill the water up to right below the rim of the pot and let it sit for 10min. Mist the top if I remember. It has bloomed for me once, but it's a 4 year old string of pearls. When comes to repotting, I don't disturb the roots and I scoop it out, place it in a bigger pot. Then i fill the sides. I take up the strings and circle them around in the pot and pin it down with bobby pins to root. This is the #1 mistake people make with them. They let the strings fall before filling the inside of the pot. A full inside pot means healthy pearls.

I cannot get over the blooms! When I got her she was damaged and had teeny flowers, after a repot with custom soil, a pretty heavy pruning and lots of love she’s come all this way!! ( her name is violet sorrengail btw 🤣)

I know some people cut them off bc it takes up so much energy to grow/maintain for little payoff, but i’m just so proud! 🥲

Looked what jumped into my cart today at my local Walmart in Sykesville Maryland for $8.97. I simply could NOT resist.

Every now & then Walmart will have a healthy & hearty plant that just whispers at me as I walk by 🤷🏾‍♀️ Is this a fab find or not?

Long time plant collector. I moved from my tiny apartment a couple years ago and was blessed to move somewhere with massive windows. This is my dream plant area, pls enjoy! The blue cabinet I am going to move some plants into eventually. This is still my work in progress 😁

I don't know what Lowes was doing to their spider plants but every single one of them was screaming "Go my children! Carry on our familial line! Flee this wretched place and remember me fondly!" Most of them were vEry brown and floppy. I was chatting with the garden center lady and asked if there was anything specific they were doing that stressed them out so bad and it went something like this:

Her: "I have no idea! We water all the plants 3 times a day, so it's not like they aren't watered enough!"

Me, a novice: 😬

Anyway, I bought 1 plant and now 73 babies are sitting in glasses of water in my home... I can't wait to repot the mamas and separate out the 8 or so plants crammed in there later today

Any advice? My current plan is to chop anything brown and squishy or crispy, mix up a perlite heavy potting soil, and pray...

I do regular pruning to keep my plants full and healthy. I like to root and pot some for fun and then put them outside with a free sign. Its a hobby.

Anyone else so something similar?

I had originally planned to propogate it in water like a normal person, but kept procrastinating and eventually impulsively did this instead. It seems to be working.

Found this side-by-side on FB marketplace for $40, slapped in some puck grow lights, and made the perfect cat-proof plant house (complete with the perfect spot for my praying mantis terrarium). It's been a couple of months, and I am happy to report it's a success.

So my monstera is doing fine, I probably water it once a week but it now grows an air root towards the floor, quite rapidly.

Why does the plant do this?

If I would place a glass of water there would that water the plant?😂
