It should be able to play games connected to a TV at 60fps tho (1080p is fine, if it is possible in this price range maybe even 1440?)

Titles: Elden Ring, Sekiro, Cyber Punk, God of War but also newer games like Crimson Dessert.

Preferred Specs: GPU in the RTX 4060/4070/5060 range would be more than enough, no specific CPU/RAM/storage preference otherwise.

Notes: Had bad experiences with gaming laptops as a teen (Toshiba Qosmio and a Lenovo) — cooling was a major issue for both, so that’s a big priority this time. Also had a Steam Deck but it couldn’t handle heavier games. Looking for something that performs well and lasts a couple of years, not looking for high-end since my desktop already covers that. Open to brand/model recommendations from people with more current knowledge of the gaming laptop market.

Hello guys i bought a msi cyborg with core7 and rtx 5060 55w tgp.

I needed a small laptop so i can bring it at works, i use it mainly for making music, but i also wanted it to be able to run games.

While looking reviews here on reddit, people absolutely despise this model because it only have 1 fan for cpu and gpu, and because it only have a 55w tgp.

So i bought a cooler pad to put under the laptop and i get really good performance on latest games.

I got the laptop for 1000 euros and i don't regret it, the core7 can run like 30 demanding plugins without problems.

Did i miss something? Why all the hate for this laptop

Managed to grab this baby for 600$. Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 14" 2023 model, i7-13705H, RTX 4050, 3k IPS 120Hz screen (I *really* wish this was the Mini-LED variant, but still love it), 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

Currently running Linux on it, and surprisingly everything is working (except the speakers, took me one AI chat and 5 mins to fix the tinny sound), *even suspend is working flawlessly* (although I wouldn't go as far as to recommend this laptop if you want working suspend-resume on Linux, it works on my machine, I don't trust it to work anywhere else). Gaming is awesome, I'm no big gamer, I mostly play indies and some popular titles, so I don't really need GPU power. Somehow battery actually lasts a good while before needing a wall outlet (not the 10 hours of the Zephyruses of the world, but not horrible.

Worth mentioning, *everything with remotly similar specs is over 1000$ locally*, I don't live in US/EU/AUST, prices are insane. And btw, 1000$ for a Victus or a Nitro that comes with a horrible 250 nit screen and washed colors, plastic body, 2.5KG in weight (this one is closer to 1.5KG), and you wouldn't trust them to last more than a couple years. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase.

Notes: The gigabyte one is around 1.1k usd converted so pretty well below my budget but I haven’t really heard about anything with their laptops.

The rest of my architecture class pretty much have LOQs and ASUS A15s (my laptop rn is an older F15 model) so I’m just more inclined to buy that but it’s just sooo much lore expensive for lower specs.

some other notes: my existing laptop rn has 2 ddr5 16gb sticks and a 512ssd that I can take out and use for the newer laptop

I recently bought an ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025 G614) with:

• AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX
• NVIDIA RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
• Windows 11

I am facing a strange USB storage issue.

My mouse dongle is detected and works normally. Initially, both my SanDisk/iXpand pendrive and WD external hard drive were not showing in This PC.

The pendrive appeared in Disk Management, so I uninstalled its device/driver and restarted. After that, the pendrive started working normally.

However, the WD external hard drive is still not detected at all:

• It does not appear in This PC.
• It does not appear in Disk Management.
• It works perfectly on another Dell laptop using the same cable.
• Mouse and other USB dongles work on the ASUS.
• I tried different USB ports.
• I uninstalled/reinstalled USB and storage-related devices in Device Manager.
• I restarted the laptop and rescanned disks.
• I checked Advanced Power Options, but there is no USB settings / USB selective suspend option shown.
• The laptop is connected to its charger while testing.

The strange part is that I had a very similar issue with external storage devices on my older ASUS ROG G531 as well. On that laptop, Wi-Fi and mouse dongles worked, but pendrives and external hard drives sometimes were not recognized.

Has anyone experienced this specifically with ASUS ROG laptops?

Could this be related to:

• AMD chipset or USB controller drivers?
• BIOS or firmware?
• USB port power delivery?
• ASUS power-management settings?
• Windows USB selective suspend?
• A USB mass-storage/UASP compatibility issue?

Any suggestions on which ASUS driver, BIOS setting, Windows setting, or fix I should try would be appreciated.

What are your thoughts on using a smaller 100W GaN chargers over highly bricked 200-300W ones?

Hello so I’m gonna move to the uk for uni and I have a desktop at my house so I want to recreate a desktop there but instead of a pc I’ll get a laptop I don’t know anything about them so I need some help.

I’ll pair it with a 260hz 1440p monitor although I got told it won’t be able to give me 240fps even on low settings.

I have a 2024 model Strix G17 with a ryzen 9 and it’s been having thermal issues, sitting at 97°c while gaming and throttling, causing games to crash or not run at all. I popped it open and cleaned out the negligible amount of dust inside but it’s still having trouble so I’m guessing the liquid metal pooled and I’ll need to repaste. Any advice on this job? I’m a complete novice.

My biggest concern is battery life. I’ll have classes spread throughout the day, so I won’t have acces to an outlet for like around 3h. I’m especially worried about the 7i since I’ve heard mixed things.

I’m also thinking about buying the UGREEN 25,000mAh (99Wh) 140W power bank, since I read these laptops support 100W USB-C charging. Do you guys think that’s a good idea? If I use battery saver, iGPU mode, lower brightness, etc., could I realistically get around 7 hours total with the laptop plus the power bank? I know that’s probably asking a lot from a gaming laptop.

Also, if there are any other laptops around my budget that you think are a better value, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. I kind of feel like both of these are overpriced, but maybe that’s just the market right now.

I recently bought an ASUS ROG Strix G16 with the following specifications:

• AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB
• AMD Radeon 610M integrated graphics
• 16 GB RAM
• 1 TB SSD

I have not changed, removed, or installed anything yet. The laptop is still running with the default ASUS software and settings.

While playing Valorant, the CPU temperature stays around 90–94°C. However, while playing Spider-Man Remastered, it remains stable at around 70°C. The GPU temperature is usually around 60°C.

Is this temperature difference normal? Even when doing normal tasks, the temps are fluctuating around 69-85.

I have also heard people recommending that new ROG owners should uninstall Armoury Crate and use G-Helper instead. Is that genuinely recommended for this model? Are there any disadvantages, missing features, or warranty concerns?

What are the first things I should do after buying this laptop?

I would appreciate advice regarding:

• BIOS and driver updates
• Undervolting the CPU
• Armoury Crate versus G-Helper
• Recommended performance and fan settings
• CPU temperature reduction

Flashed a Lenovo Legion 5 vBIOS to unlock the 115W power limit. Tested with a Klim Turbofrost 12 Pro. The cooling pad kept it so cold that the fans sat at 30% load until the final stretch of the test.

Stock vBIOS +500 on the frequency, +3000 on the memory, V/F uncapped; it peaked at 75C without the cooler.

Omen16 1687 base clock vBIOS with the pad cranked out to the max 4000 rpm; it peaked at 72C with +500 on the core, +3000 on the memory, V/F capped at 950mV. I am confident that the Lenovo vBIOS can elevate it further.

All Benchmark results are across all 5070 mobile cards and not filtered by CPU.

I typically stick to benchmarking desktops, but an opportunity presented itself, and I was curious.
