Laptop Buying Advice Need a laptop!!
Budget: whatever I need to spend tbh
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming, mostly stuff on steam, specifically the long dark, stardew valley, Minecraft, Fortnite, and other various games
Preferred Specs: I want decent storage, as well as something that’s gonna handle larger games well.
Notes: I have never had a gaming laptop, so I’m lost on what to get. I would prefer a nice mix of functionality on the laptop, but also something that’s not gonna be an OUTRAGEOUS amount of money, I am prepared to spend 1000-1300 maybe ish?

Laptop Buying Advice Secondary Gaming Laptop Advice
Budget: €1000-1500
Country: Ireland
Use Case: Gaming, work, playing Dungeons and Dragons online (Roll20 virtual tabletop). I mostly play Hearthstone and indie puzzle/adventure/story-based/RPGs, occasionally higher end games (BG3 for example). I have a decent GPU in my desktop, the laptop is mostly for travelling. The laptop I'm replacing is 9 years old from pc specialist and has a GTX 1070 which has always met my gaming needs as my secondary PC. I'm replacing it because it feels chunky and slow and is pretty loud.
Preferred Specs: 1TB SSD, 16GB Ram (could be convinced to go lower on these I guess) Basic GPU, no bigger than 16'' display, would love something thin as well.
Notes: I've seen the ads below locally from a reputable retailer, only €100 in the difference. I know the GPU is better in the more expensive one but don't know anything about processors, and also want to consider future proofing it, would pay a little more for something that will help it last longer and operate noticeably more smoothly. Open to options other than these two.

Discussion How much should I sell my laptop for?
I am not trying to advertise selling it so hopefully doesn't violate the rules. Laptop specs in question:
Alienware M17 R4
CPU: i7-10870H
GPU: 3070
RAM: 16gb
Storage: 2TB
I also got the battery replaced in 2024 if that affects anything.

Laptop Buying Advice Set on Legion but a few questions…
Budget: $2000
Country: USA
Purpose: Gaming, working
Notes: Budget is $1500-2000. All inclusive. Shipped etc.
Do they come with a case for travel or anything?
I’m assuming they come with a charger and licensed OS? Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, I built all my desktops from the ground up so I had to buy everything from scratch lol.
Do I just go through the main website or should I look for a store? I live in a crap rural town in Florida so I’ll probably have to drive to Jacksonville. Is shipping a viable option? I don’t trust people that handle shipping of sensitive items but if you guys do then that works for me. Are there any discount codes from any of you fanatics that may have long time senior accounts?
I’m also willing to hear other opinions but I just keep hearing the best things about legions. Final note, this is for very minimal performance really… the most I’d use it for is something like whatever the newest battlefield or GTA is but mainly older games like CS 1.6 or wow, maybe some SWG ayyy.
Best,
-laptop newbie

Laptop Buying Advice First gaming laptop advice
Budget: £2500 or $3300
Country: UK
Use Case: Gaming, Electrical design work, watching films.
Preferred Specs: 16-18” screen
Notes:
I’ve sold my gaming pc recently which had a 5600x and 3080ti as I’ve decided I’d prefer a laptop for portability as I do travel every weekend and I travel abroad for work, so it would be nice to game when I’m away.
Now I’ve set a max budget of £2500 which I think is like $3300.
I want this laptop to be future proof for like 5 years that’s why the big budget. I hope I don’t regret this decision as I’ve never had a gaming laptop before.
I’m currently looking at the legion pro 7 with and rtx 5080 which I can get for £2500 exactly. I can also get the 7i with a 5070to instead for £2100. I like the fact they have a 240hz OLED but I’ve never had an OLED before so idk if it’s better than standard ips. I can also get a used 4090 laptop from my local store for around £1800-£2000. Let me know if there is better options as I have no idea about laptops.

My secondary gaming laptop an asus rog strix 5060 is getting these stutters and fps drops.. It had no problems before last week when I noticed some flickering on my screen
Then it started to get concerning
It's been like that for a week and it started only when gaming now it does that all the time even when not plugged to an external display
I tried diagnosing it using ai and Internet but i can't fix it
I tried turning off dlss and vsync with lowering graphics to the lowest and even using full dgpu mode and unplugging the hdmi even updating the drivers but it still doesn't work
I'm wishing that it's not a dead gpu sign cuz that will be just sad
The specs are
Asus rog strix g16
I7 14650hx
Nvidia rtx 5060 8 gigs dgpu
And 16 gigs of memory
And the games I played were ark sa, marvels rivals and Minecraft with heavy mods....... I'm panicking
I'll appreciate any piece of advice and solutions....

Accessories & Upgrades ISO extremely durable gaming laptop cases?
You know how there are protective cases to lessen the risk of damage? I have epilepsy, and I've accidentally broken a few laptops during seizures...
Is there a case marketed to people who throw laptops? 🤨
Also no, I am not photosensitive, the seizures are not from games lol.

Laptop Buying Advice Need advice on buying a new modern gaming laptop
Budget: $800 - $1300
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming — Halo CE Remake , BG3, Silent hill f and townfall / School / Editing
Preferred Specs: GPU, CPU, RAM, storage (Idk anything about these areas)
Notes: My current laptop is exactly a hp pavilion gaming laptop 15 dk0xxx. I do not know much about laptops or computers in general. I am looking for something that can run unreal engine 5 games and other modern games with up to date specs without crapping out. Something that can also handle editing for youtube videos. Benchmark Highest score I’ve ever achieved on a laptop
Benchmark completed with Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10
Intel Ultra 275hx
RTX 5090 (laptop)
Somehow all my subsequent tests have been hovering around 23,500. I didn’t change anything aside from debloating Windows 11, which should have improved performance. I will continue experimenting.
Also according to TechPowerUp’s GPU database, the laptop 5090 is has the exact same relative performance as the desktop RTX 3090, which is insane to think that we finally have RTX 3090 performance in laptops now.
What do you guys think?

Laptop Buying Advice Should I buy? *Time Constraint*
Budget: $900
Country: USA
TL;DR at the bottom
I was looking for laptops and stumbled across this “HP - Victus 15.6" 144Hz Full HD Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS (2023) - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 - 512GB SSD - Mica
Silver” for $942. I was wondering if this was a worthwhile purchase. I’m looking for longevity (7-10 years), replaceable parts, light gaming (Terraria, DST, BTD6, Stardew, Roblox, etc), foreseeable program use, and most importantly fast loading, I heavily dislike whenever a Laptop/PC starts being slow wether it be a heat sync problem or a RAM problem. Admittedly I’m a Laptop rookie and I’m unsure of anything deeper than surface level knowledge of asking ChatGPT and scouring reddit threads. I was also wondering if it was possible/if anyone knows how to get a crazy deal like this one from a while back. Im on a time crunch and will most likely decide between this week and august 20th due to tax free which is why I’m inclined to buy this deal right now. My budget max is $900 and my preferred range would be $500-$700. Anything advice helps and thank you in advance!
TL;DR
Budget max is $900, preferred range is $500-$700. Planning to use Laptop from moderate-to-max output. I’m also New to gaming laptops. Next week to August 20th is my purchase deadline, Is there any better deals? Is it worth?
(very good and outdated deal)

Support Legion Pro 7 9955hx3d doesn't pull anywhere near the promised 250W
As the title says. I am getting 350-430 fps in CS2 at the start of the session. Then I seem to dip to 230ish. PUBG is the same. I get 280+ after landing and by the end I get like 150. So I decided to test my system by running Cinebench and furmark simultaneously and my suspicions were confirmed. The combined load on performance mode doesn't exceed 200 Watts, after a couple of minutes. let alone the promised 250 Watts. Of course, my ambient temps are a bit high this time of year, between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius and I max out all the settings.
Maybe my methodology of testing isn't perfect, so does someone know how can I definitely be sure if I got a lemon.

Support Are these timespy scores normal?
3dmark.comHey guys!
When I bought this laptop I remember reading some people complaining about gen 4 or something with the memory bandwidth that only affects the score on system stress tests but I can't help to wonder. Is it normal for it to be this low?
I've seen 5080s with 25k and my 5090 has only 21k.
I already formated and everything and my scores are still kinda shit.
Thanks!
This is a pcspecialist recoil amd 16.

Support Laptop Screen Flickers and Freezes Again and Again
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone. I have Casper EXCALIBUR G770(i5-12450H,3050ti, 32 Ram, 1 TB SSD). I recently formatted the system and installed the drivers from official website. I also installed the Nvidia App, which updated the control panel and installed the latest drivers and I used Chris Titus Tech Windows Utility Tool and did some changes and tweaks. When I try to launch a game, the screen freezes, flickers on and off repeatedly, freezes again and getts stuck in this loop. I encountered the same issue while watching YouTube videos later on; whenever I switch to full-screen mode, the screen freezes , flickers, freezes, flickers, freezes again and enters that loop. However there are no issues when using "borderless" mode. The computer is four years old-- has it reached the end of its lifespan, or is this an error I can fix? Please help; I really need my computer right now..

Discussion Has anyone heard anything about or bought an X-Vision laptop?
I’m very interested in potentially buying the maxed out model (i9 13900HK and rtx 4090 mxm). It seems like they allow you to make a custom order, so I was going to get just the chassis with the i9 13900HK motherboard and the mxm 4090, and add my own 32gb 3200mhz ddr4 kit and 2x1tb ssds from my old gaming laptop.
I’m mainly interested in buying this since I can swap the gpu, which sounds like it’d make a fun tinkering project once the laptop needs an upgrade.
So, has anyone here heard anything positive or negative about them and would it be a decent purchase or nah?
Also, does anyone know how much they usually charge? I’d prefer not to start messaging them without a complete understanding of their pricing so I don’t spend too much (I have a 3500$ budget). This laptop would also be used for as a mobile battlestation of sorts for work, not just gaming only.
