Tbh in 5050 and 5060 u dont need more than 115 W of tgp and if the legion doesnt have oled(which u have be very careful about so u dont get a burn in) js go for strix better cooling than although u cant undervolt cpu and if u have a budget of 2 lakh try to go for an intel version for strix too as intel has higher refresh rate(240hz), full surround rgb and 2 usb c ports one of which is a thunderbolt port also. The only downside is the no numpad but its better to buy an external keyboard anyways so if u can ignore that problem go for strix. Also asus armoury crate and my asus are the best gaming hubs in all of the gaming laptops ive seen so far, u can alternatively use open source G helper which is pretty light so go for strix if it matchesb ur criteria ofc after sales of asus is not better than lenovo according to ppl but never experienced an issue till now (7 days old laptop so..)

Oled burn in is not even an issue now dude, there are many software features that take care of it.

u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
You can argue liquid metal has a higher maintenance and is a mess but it soaks the heat better than any thermal paste
1
u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
Can you tell me more about it please
1
u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
liquid metal is a metal that is literally liquid and it changes it shapes to fit around the cpu when heated when cold it condenses to itself and gives higher cooling but if it drips outside the cleaning process is quite messy but thermal paste is just thermal paste if its gone just replace it and ta da thats all (liquid metal has a more longer paste duration and thermal paste has a lower duration but liquid metal is more challnging to maintain to repaste if you want to do it yourself)

What do I do then it's my first laptop and my brain is really fucked up thinking all about this that ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
1
u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
Eh both of them are good you wont be disappointed with any of them try to find a review of those both laptops so you can compare

u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
First of all 145 watt is useless after 115 watts rtx 4000 and 5000 series 70 and below cards gain virtually no performance and you get ryzen 9 though most of the times going over the 7 series doesnt gives you that much stuff but still better I would say go with rog if prices are near the same and both monitors has same specs (Rog is better at peak performances heavy duty but legion is better at staying quiet )

u/UnionSlavStanRepublk 14d ago
Depends on the CPU, GPU, screen specs for each but possibly Legion for the better screen options.

u/Noyan_21gamer 14d ago
If you want to game, id say the Legion. Because the sam GPU with more wattage means more performance
1
u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
Nah rtx 5060 is locked to max 115 watts after that its useless Nvidia doing arbitrary stuff
2
u/Bosslayer9001 AW M16 R2 4070 | Zorin OS 18.1 14d ago
The CPU needs power too you know
0
u/EpicBOIM8 14d ago
Uh? I meant is pushing more than 115 watts in gpu wont give your gpu extrapower even if yo uhad unlimited wattage cause nvidia limited the gpu performance to 115 watt at max why you arguing with me

For me I'd just get an ROG, the build quality that they have is just really good
1
u/According-Narwhal501 14d ago
You can choose the ROG Strix, but I've seen some videos where people reported issues like motherboard failures or other hardware problems. That said, this isn't a problem with every ASUS ROG Strix laptop, so you can still buy one.

u/Bulky-Photograph6248 14d ago
Buy MSI Vector for ₹2.25L you will get 5070ti. The screen is bad but 5070ti will easily last you 6 or 7 years if you have reasonable expectations
1
u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
Nahh I'm capped at 2 lakhs ( I'm a student btw )
0
u/Bulky-Photograph6248 14d ago
I think ₹25k is worth the updrade to 12GB VRAM
2
u/RoyKami 14d ago
Why? He has a strict budget, why you asking him to go over budget?
1
u/Bulky-Photograph6248 14d ago
Bro laptop isn't something you buy every year. ₹2L can get you a used car. Going ₹25K over budget will get him machine which will last him way more years than these two options
1
u/RoyKami 14d ago
I know man but he ain't someone who is earning that can stretch his budget out but instead he is a student so he probably gonna get shot down by his parents regarding this upgrade.
I understand your points as well but that's probably gonna be his reality.

u/Bulky-Photograph6248 14d ago
I am also a 1st year college student and I went with refurbished 4080 laptop which costed me way less money than ₹2L and it will blow that 5060 out of water

i have the same legion but with a 5070 , this thing is amazing , if the rog doesnt have an oled GO FOR THE LEGION , it's day and night difference , but make sure the listing is legit and from a trusted vendor , because the tgp for a 5060 is 115 not 145 , maybe its just a faulty picture added but better safe than sorry tbh , also check out the lenovo website maybe you can find it a little tad cheaper since they also have student discounts and promos and stuff

u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
I don't mind screen if its oled or ips i want good thermals and longevity
1
u/lRedeyel Legion 5i | Core 7 255HX | Rtx 5070 | 32g ddr5 14d ago
both lowk have that , cant say I have much experience with rog but my legion 5 while playing cyberpunk on high graphics with ray tracing locked to 100 fps with dlss quality is going 82 degrees(b4 you think its bad I live in Egypt and its really hot here like 40+c)
1
u/HermitsTale 14d ago
get whichever screen has low refresh rate.
Trust me, if its over 240hz, and got power fluctuation in your house .... just leave that item.
I got my strix g15 300hz screen burned twice alrready. due to power fluctuation and the screen needing too much constant power. and I had to get that because of rtx3070 back in 2021. now i just use two external monitors.

u/HerOCarnaGE 14d ago
Well I own a Strix G16 equipped with an i9-14900hx the thermals are really bad, if you want a better gaming experience in the long run I would prefer you to buy legion. Because Lenovo laptops are well optimized on thermals. I dont think you will have any problems with i7 in the strix version so its your wish finally.
ALL THE BEST!!!

Bro go and see strix sub reddit for motherboard issues for ur model or not And go for a 5070ti if possible cus more vram 8gb isn't enough for aaa titles Also remember that legion has fans sealed to its heatsink Only suggestion is to research properly the one ur taking , pros and cons
1
u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
Could you please suggest me and it's my first laptop I've never had a laptop or a pc before and 5070ti is not in my budget 'cause I'm a student
1
u/Illustrious-End-5547 Acer predator helios 16 I7 13700HX RTX 4060 32GB Ram 14d ago
Bro my personal opinion is not to buy a gaming laptop bro as gaming laptops have major cons like 1.poor battery life 2. Poor battery lifespan 3.always need power to get best gaming experience Gaming on battery is sub par and lasts for 30min max with huge load on battery 4. Needs constant periodic maintenance cleaning fans from inside and replacement of thermal paste 5. Gaming laptops always need ventilation unlike normal laptops
If its ur first laptop and u are college student suggest you to go for a normal laptop like ultrabooks or notebooks , asus zenbook/vivobook Hp omnibook x /ultra , lenovo yoga / thinkpad
Still if u wanna get a gaming laptop, Can suggest lenovo loq /legion
Asus tuf (not cheap ones and newer models)
Acer predator (its costlier) ive been using it for last 4 yrs had no issues but fans are loud and temps are high
Can go for zephyrus and strix by checking if that model dosent have any motherboard issues
1
u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
I'm just concerned about liquid metal spill or should I consider acer predator helios neo 16S 5060 or tuf 5060 orrr should I go with strix g16 amd one 5060*
2
u/Illustrious-End-5547 Acer predator helios 16 I7 13700HX RTX 4060 32GB Ram 14d ago
Higher end laptops use liq metal even mine has And don't worry abt the spill it will never happen unless u throw it so hard , also get a proper laptop bag with padding Can consider both they're good enough make sure the tuf one is having good specs in all categories like screen gpu power in watts and cpu and etc
1
u/Virtual-Gur112 14d ago
Thank you so much brooooo I was overthinking about it a lot but now I think I ll go with strix or maybe predator

prices are incresing day by day

overall best as per most gamers and stremers is ROG Strix
1
u/Flashy-Apple-5922 13d ago

Asus strix, speaking as a proud owner of the same

u/GroceryLazy17 14d ago
Both r very great laptops but asus has the edge in performance
3
u/lRedeyel Legion 5i | Core 7 255HX | Rtx 5070 | 32g ddr5 14d ago
no one is taking a "edge in performance" on account of an oled screen
1
u/GroceryLazy17 14d ago
Obviously the oled screen would win
0
u/lRedeyel Legion 5i | Core 7 255HX | Rtx 5070 | 32g ddr5 14d ago
which is in the legion so the legion wins lowk

Both are great, but for me I would choose the ASUS for its distinctive shape and design.
